The ScoutCast – Episode 207 – Regrets

Regrets come hand-in-hand with Fantasy Football – if you get through the season without one, you’re either extremely fortunate or you just don’t care enough. Either way, you’re unlikely to be reading this.

Most of us of come to terms with them, have learnt to ride them out and plough on regardless but, even I’ve got to admit, Alexis Sanchez’ Gameweek 14 stung a bit.

Thankfully, with Sergio Aguero harbouring his own regrets, my path to sheepishly welcome Sanchez back into the fold is signposted rather clearly.

The Sanchez wounds and the Aguero fall-out dominate this week’s ScoutCast, which also marks a debut for moderator and long-time community member AZ. He steps in with Granville tangled in political red tape to join Jonty, Andy and myself for a lengthy and lively episode.

We gripe about the volatile market, quiver in fear at the idea of the “Titan teams” and, of course, preview the weekend with a scattering of statistics, speculation and pure guesswork.

This episode of the ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Wednesday night. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

If you’re a traditional type, you can acquire the mp3 audio version via this link or the first player below, or take in the full visual experience via the second player below.

I have no L'pool cover atm. Stuck with Allen and De Roon and also have Austin. FT used (Costa). What to do:

    A) -4 Austin out, Ihea in (play Allen or Amat)
    B) -4 Austin out, Anichebe in then next week get L'pool cover or Eriksen/Alli (play Allen or Amat)
    C) -8 Austin&Allen out, Firmino&Anichebe in (next week dump one of Kosc/Holebas for Walker/Rose)

    C would give me
    Pick (Jaku)
    Kosc Alonso Holebas (Evans Amat)
Sanchez Haz Firmino Siggy (De Roon)
    Costa Kane Anichebe

Wait on Liverpool pressers and get Origi if Studge is out for a while.

Could Long be a decent replacement for Austin? -4 for him or play capoue?

I wouldnt be touching Long, rather play Capoue or look at other replacements (Nacho, Origi, Defoe, Benteke, Carroll).

Anybody looking at Andy Carroll as a replacement for Austin? Only 6.1 and after this weekend he has Burnley (H), Hull (H), Swansea (A). I know they've been brutal but there should be points in those fixtures surely?

Worth a punt. He will surely get a goal or two in those fixtures.

Yeah, my thinking. Plus he's 0.7 cheaper than Austin so a useful saving to strengthen elsewhere.

An option for Austin replacement. But very injury prone.

He has no match fitness, and I'm not sure how many minutes he'll play.

      Also, West Ham are dreadful.

It might pay off big time, but it's risky.

Hoping he gets close to a full game v Liverpool. Think he will, Liverpool are weak at crosses and so that's where West Ham could profit.

Austin injury has resolved my benching dilemma. It is Anichebe time.

    Heaton
    Alonso/Holebas/Cedric
    Walcott/Alexis/Siggy/Firmino/Hazard

Amat or McAuley as first sub? Think both will concede, but WBA guy always has goal chance.

Anyone with Austin, if you've already taken a hit will you just be benching Austin or taking a further hit to get out?

I may just play Capoue and then get rid on a free before midweek games.

Yeah, I'm thinking about him but just don't trust Pep. Stones, KDB and Aguero all burned me this season.

Will wait to see what he says in his presser.

This may have been asked already but chances of Jones holding his place in the united defence over christmas? José has been bigging him up in recent weeks, but then Bailly and Rojo started in centre of defence last night. Probably a flip of a coin between Rojo,Blind and Jones?

This Austin injury is a pain.
Already on a minus 8 and with all these games in quick succession it's difficult to go with out a third striker in place.
    Take another hit or wait?
Also anyone looking to Llorente?? I know Swansea defensively fragile but fixtures really good over nxt 7?
