The Stock Check – Gameweek 20 – Wednesday

Dele Alli scores twice for the third successive Gameweek as Spurs extinguish Chelsea’s 13-match winning streak. Christian Eriksen supplies both assists as Eden Hazard’s form on the road continues to cause concern.

On the Rise

Dele Alli
It’s seven goals in the last four Gameweeks for the Spurs midfielder after scoring twice in the 2-0 win over Chelsea – his third successive brace.

Serving up points in six of his last eight outings, Alli has soared to third in the Fantasy Premier League midfield standings and has now scored 10 goals this term – matching his tally for the 2015/16 campaign.

Number one for transfers in this Gameweek with a massive 166,000+ new owners, Spurs’ upcoming schedule suggests that Alli could keep on delivering as the bandwagon picks up pace – the north London side host West Brom and Middlesbrough and travel to Sunderland in the next four.

Christian Eriksen
While Alli claimed top billing at the Lane, Eriksen kept his tally ticking over by supplying the assists for both the starlet’s goals.

The Dane’s 11-point haul – a fifth double-figure return in eight appearances – took him to fifth amongst FPL midfielders, highlighting his points potential ahead of those aforementioned fixtures.

Indeed, with the 10.9-priced Harry Kane failing to get amongst the goals, the prospect of doubling up on Eriksen (8.6) and Alli (8.4) may prove more appealing for those looking to invest in Mauricio Pochettino’s attack.

The Spurs Defence
With their first-choice defensive regulars all fit and free from suspension, Spurs chalked up an eighth clean sheet of the season last night – second only to Chelsea’s 11.

Mauricio Pochettino’s decision to roll out a 3-4-2-1 set-up bodes well for the prospects of Kyle Walker and Danny Rose, who were both utilised as wing-backs against the Blues.

Indeed, Rose has now produced attacking or defensive returns in each of his last five appearances – an average of 5.1 points per match is second only to Chelsea’s Marcos Alonso (5.5) amongst defenders. He did, however, pick up an eigth yellow card and is now just two cautions from a two-match ban.

The return of Toby Alderweireld in recent matches also looks key. Spurs have chalked up six shutouts in 12 matches with the Belgian on board, compared to two clean sheets in eight without him.

With the schedule now in their favour, investment in Pochettino’s main men at both ends of the pitch looks likely.

In Decline

Eden Hazard
The Belgian’s struggles on the road continued last night – he’s scored just twice away from Stamford Bridge this season.

More worryingly for his 34.7% owners, Hazard’s blank means he’s found the net only twice in his previous eight league outings – a far cry from the performances that served up seven goals and three assists in the first 11 Gameweeks.

Should he fail to pick up the points away to Leicester City next time out, Hazard – who also faces Arsenal and Liverpool in the next four Gameweeks – could see the exodus pick up pace as we look for better value in the premium bracket.

Harry Kane
With Alli and Eriksen bringing in the points again, the Spurs striker left his 13% ownership disappointed by failing to score at home for the third successive fixture.

Although Kane’s 16-point haul away to Watford last time out reminded us of his goal-getting talents, at a price of 10.9, there’s no doubt his appeal is lessened by the more budget-friendly alternatives in the Spurs midfield.

Given that the battle for premium-priced forwards has intensified recently, Kane needs to step up his consistency in order to prevent further sales as we look to Sergio Aguero, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Diego Costa up front.

Willian
A run of four straight starts came to an end last night as Pedro returned from suspension to oust the Brazilian from Antonio Conte’s first XI.

Willian’s brace against Stoke City in the previous Gameweek had suggested he would retain a starting berth at White Hart Lane, offering us a viable mid-price alternative to Hazard.

Yet a 26-minute cameo appearance off the bench confirmed that his acquisition clearly still comes with a major risk, with Conte still somewhat uncertain over that role on the right of the Chelsea front three.

      I don't mean to be insulting- and I've made too many bad decisions to count - but why did you do that? Eriksen's form has been superb and Liverpool's fixtures are worse than spurs'? A hit would have had to guarantee an attacking return to even break even

        Maybe reverse it after Liverpool's easier home fixture? Spurs do have West Brom at home, which will be tight, and city away which could be anything.

        Short sightedness perhaps? This 1 GW in isolation I would have expected Lallana to easily outscore Eriksen.

          We are all prone to that I suppose - this place breeds sensationalism too. But I think there is one rule to stick by - don't take a form player out who also has good fixtures. I think sometimes there is the fun aspect too - ive brought players in on the short term just because I'm going to watch a couple of their games and they are explosive. But I think minimal transfers and consistent scorers generally win the day

    Morning everyone. Went to sleep on this dilema and still dont know what to do.

    A. Haz + Capoue ~> Alli + Phillips/Stanislas (-4)
    B. Capoue ~> Stanislas

    0.5 ITB. I have Eriksen. Forwards Ibra Costa Rondon.

    Defense in bad form, but good fixtures so will need to sort that out soon, so I will need cash.

      I'd try and keep Hazard - he'll average out at 6PPG for the season and it's hard to find someone who does that consistently. If you can raise a bit more cash first with another transfer (ie. downgrade one of your other bench players) to do Capoue to Phillips straight, I'd try that.

    I just took a -4pt hit to to Hazard to Alli.

    In the short term it may not come off. But that 0.4m in price changes could be valuable towards the end of the season and when I come to use my WC.

    Hi guys, need advice. Used WC, happy with most of it, just wanted to get Baines in for Pieters

    Foster Mannone

    Pieters (Baines) Mcauley Valencia Ake Amat

    Sanchez Alli Redmond? De Roon Phillips

    Costa Ibra Giroud

    Thinking swapping either;
    A- Sanchez for Hazard (0.6 ITB upgrade Redmond?)
    B- Giroud for Defoe
    C- Giroud for Negredo (1.3 ITB to upgrade)

    Thanks in advance

    Need some thoughts on moves for the next 2 weeks… horrible start to the season but have just got back on track, going from 960k to 210k in the last 7 weeks. Looking to break into top 100k in 2-3 weeks and then make moves from there. Slow and steady, right? 🙂

    So thinking of Alonso --> Ake to allow for Benteke --> Costa/Kane/Lukaku. Reasoning behind taking out Alonso is that Ake will fill that 4th defensive spot and allow me to rotate him with Daniels and Brunt where necessary. TV around 105m.

    Rest of my team as follows:

    Heaton (Pickford)

    Alonso—Baines—Daniels—Brunt (Amat)

    Sanchez—Hazard—Eriksen—Phillips (Allen)

    Ibrahimovic—Defoe (Benteke)

        Thanks - yeah two Bou defenders is my concern too, but I'd likely play both of them most home games, and then choose between the two when away, as they both could get attacking points.

    Looks like Origi's run is over and with Coutinho back soon he'll struggle for gametime.

    Don't want to take a hit, so Deeney, Negredo or Wilson?

    Wilson is the most exciting option imo, but it doesn't seem like he's nailed on this season which is a surprise.

    Had such a horrible season so far, but the last three game weeks have been really positive, and this was on the back of four hits (I usually never take hits).

    The moves that have been made lately were:

    Firmino --> Lallana
    Costa --> Zlatan
    Alderweireld --> Valencia
    Hazard --> Sánchez
    Redmond --> Phillips
    Walcott --> Alli
    Cédric --> Aké
    Holebas --> Brunt

    Lallana, Zlatan, Phillips, Alli and Brunt made an impact immediately after coming in. Especially Phillips and Alli felt really good. I feel a bit unlucky on the Hazard to Sánchez move as Sánchez should really have had a lot more points against WBA and Palace.

    726.959 OR in GW 17 and now 227.305 OR in GW20. Hopefully this run will not stop too fast!

    Also good news for Brunt that Nyom is staying. More likely to be playing on the wing!

        Thanks. My motivation has been so low after basically red hours for 10 GWs before these three.

        Never been outside of top 60k in all my seasons of FPL, but was feeling so down this season. Nothing was really working.

        Thought I would share for others feeling the same way. It can turn quickly!

    WC team:

    Heaton
    Ake Baines Pieters
    Sterling Sanchez Lallana Phillips
    Costa Kane Ibrahimovic

    Foster Chambers Amat Mutch

    Is Gray nailed again now?
    If so how does this sound?
    Amat, Mutch, Kane >> Dawson, Alli, Gray

    Ok, need 0.7 to be able to do hazard and benteke to alli and Costa.
    Would you do:
    A) holebas to 3.9 non playing def
    B) Alonso to Daniels
    C) foster to jakupovic

      slim pickings.
      if you're considering that then why not just go 3-5-2?

    A strange calm has come over me

    I'm going to stop caring about Benteke's drops and hold for the near future

    Is Wilson nailed on for Bournemouth? I know Stan is popular but need to upgrade my 3rd striker (Anichebe) and those fixtures look good.

        I am using it but there comes a time when one of my mids fixtures is tough, and I need a decent option at 3rd striker
