The Weekend Team News

West Ham’s want-away Dimitri Payet is excluded from the squad to face Palace. Theo Walcott and Hector Bellerin look set to miss out as Arsenal travel to Swansea, while Chris Brunt will be assessed ahead of West Brom’s visit to Spurs.

Slaven Bilic has conceded that Dimitri Payet won’t be considered for selection after asking to leave West Ham in the winter transfer window. Michail Antonio is currently suffering from a virus but the Hammers boss remains hopeful he will return to training today ahead of a home match with Crystal Palace. James Collins is back in contention after recovering from a calf complaint.

Reports suggest that Hector Bellerin and Theo Walcott remain sidelined through ankle and calf problems respectively for Arsenal’s trip to Swansea, with the latter also expected to miss next week’s clash against Burnley. Mesut Ozil is back in contention, though, after recovering from illness.

Heurelho Gomes, Jose Holebas and Juan Camilo Zuniga are all available for Watford’s clash with Middlesbrough. Walter Mazzarri is hopeful on returns for Valon Behrami and Stefano Okaka, though Daryl Janmaat remains a big doubt and Isaac Success is still sidelined through injury.

Victor Valdes and Viktor Fischer are set to return for Middlesbrough’s clash with Watford, though Antonio Barragan and Gaston Ramirez are set to miss out.

Swansea’s Neil Taylor is ruled out for around three weeks with a fractured cheekbone sustained in training. New signing Luciano Narsingh is unavailable to face Arsenal due to a minor calf complaint.

Steven Davis will be assessed ahead of Southampton’s trip to Burnley, though Jordy Clasie has been passed fit after being withdrawn late on during the midweek cup win over Liverpool.

Erik Lamela remains sidelined for Spurs’ home match with West Brom due to an ongoing ankle complaint.

Jamie Vardy and Andy King have both recovered from illness and are available for Leicester’s clash with Chelsea. Leonardo Ulloa is almost certain to miss out due to a thigh problem, while Claudio Ranieri has confirmed that new signing Wilfred Ndidi could be in line for his league debut.

Stoke are without Jon Walters for the trip to Sunderland, with the Irishman set to undergo knee surgery. Bojan is a major doubt due to a hip problem as rumours of a move to Middlesbrough gather pace.

Chris Brunt will be assessed ahead of West Brom’s trip to Spurs after missing the FA Cup clash against Derby due to illness. Jonny Evans remains sidelined through injury, whilst the Baggies are still waiting for clearance on Allan Nyom, who has returned to the club after opting not to play for Cameroon in the Africa Cup of Nations.

Sam Allardyce is optimistic that Christian Benteke will recover from a shoulder problem in time for Palace’s trip to West Ham. James McArthur is expected to be available after returning to full training.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream for breaking news – as the day unfolds, we will issue updates from Friday’s press conferences and refresh our Team News tab accordingly to keep you informed.

Giroud is the most calculated punt in Fpl right now hands down
People are moving for Redmond etc..comparing punts like that, Giroud is the only one truly worth punting on for me

What are peoples' thoughts on this Scoutpicks team for this week vs. the Scouts - obviously need to maximise the differentials from the scouts so only Rose, Sanchez, Defoe (and maybe Snod / Stan / Costa) same as scouts.

    Lloris
    Rose, Walker, Friend
    Ozil, Snod, Stanislas, Sanchez
    Kane, Defoe, Costa

Thinking the scout may line up like this

    Heaton
    Rose, PVA, Daniels
    Alli, Snod, Eriksen, Sanchez
    Giroud, Defoe, Ibra

      Reckon a 4-4-2 or a 3-5-2 is worth the punt over a 3-4-3 .
Since Kane play WBA , with Alli in such good form, hard to predict an already tight game.
      Probably worth a look into

I think Stanislas might make the Scout team instead of Snodgrass. The rest seems on point. I think you might be putting too many eggs in the same Spurs/Arsenal shaped basket.

Payet - Depends on what he was promised - if West Ham told him West Ham would be playing Europa League, move to a new stadium and be pushing for the CL then I think West Ham have been poor.

You can't knock him in the early part of the season. He was creating chances and what did West Ham do? Sign Zaza. It is poor from West Ham - they would be better off buying players from the Championship compared to the rubbish they have brought.

Loic Remy could play some part after he came through 45 minute unscathed at the Macron Stadium, and Christian Benteke has recovered from a shoulder complaint.

    Alonso, Holebas, Jones, (Ake) (Love)

Alonso/Ake - one will go but which one needs more info, so wait a GW
Holebas is vs MID this week so might get me 6
Jones - rotation risk but with other defensive issues happy to hold
Love - 1 point last minute on the pitch special but he's only 4.0m so enables rest of team.

So it would be Holebas I took a hit for and most likely for Chambers (save the money) or Daniels vs Hull so possible instant payback.

    OR
    Don't take a hit for a defender

Don't take a hit. Jones is nailed for the next 3-4 I reckon. Re Alonso/Ake, you're right to wait and assess, I'm in the same boat. Holebas good fixture this week.

Payet's agent Mark McKay is same as Lamine Kone's. He's horrendous. No coincidence that Payet now has an apparent 'back problem'. McKay pulled exactly the same thing for Kone before Sunderland-Middlebrough game when he was trying to force through the Everton move.

£125k a week and £1m 'loyalty' bonus and refuses to play for them. Appalling.

The problem there is you're comparing his wages to the average wage. For a very talented professional footballer, that is less than what he could get somewhere else. It's simple supply and demand, I never get how people go so berserk.

His job is to get the best deal for his players...not do favours for insanely rich premier league clubs.

Oh come on, I'm not having that at all. I get it's to get the best deal but there's proper ways to go about things!!!

But why? Why should he show any loyalty? It's not the best way to go about it, but it's a means to an end. It's distasteful but it is what it is.

he has a back problem of carrying the entire westham team on his shoulders last season

his tenure at westham maybe short but they probably wont get a more talented player in the future

Got 0FT and 2.8M ITB. Worth doing Rondon>Giroud as I got Phillips? Looks like he'll start with Walcott out. Could alternatively switch to the 343 by taking Lallana out as he has much tougher games than Rondon. Any thoughts would be appreciated 🙂

    Heaton
    Holebas Cedric Alonso
Eriksen (v) Sanchez (C) Phillips Lallana Hazard
    Rondon Ibrahimovic

    Bench: Pickford, Jones, Evans, Campbell

I upgraded Rondon to Giroud after transfering him in last week. Did if for a FT, would not take a hit with WBA's fixtures. I think Philips covers your WBA points well, and Giroud is in good form and has great fixtures. With Walcott out he will surely start.

If you think he is worth -4, go for it. He might, but you do have Sanchez so there's that.
