The Big Numbers – Gameweek 22

Our first members article of the week arrives this afternoon as we take our usual delve into the previous Gameweek’s data.

We start by assessing Olivier Giroud’s impact on the goal threat of Alexis Sanchez, at a time where Chelsea’s midfield big-hitter is failing to impress. Elsewhere, Liverpool’s resurgent Brazilian, Sergio Aguero’s recent barren streak and West Ham’s new-found source of creativity all come under analysis ahead of Gameweek 23.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Thoughts what to do with 2 FT on this lot? My defence is set. I am maxed out on Everton players.

    Hazard Sanchez Phillips Alli Stanislas
    Lukaku Ibra Crouchy

Hard to say without seeing full team. If nothing in bank may as well stick as Crouch only one I would have some concern with and you will. E benching him anyway

        .1 ITB
        Boruc Butland
        Brunt Rose Baines Holgate Chambers

I looked at dumping hazard and crouch, I like the swap to mirallas and giroud, too many everton though. Could swap to Eriksen/Llorente I suppose. I also don't mind giving Hazard (gasp) another chance.

Think I would go Hazard to Eriksen and bench Crouch and have 2 free transfers next week. I have both Alli Eriksen

I'm set on losing Hazard after his (c) no show last time out.

Option a)is in preparation for gw28, but I'm tempted by b)......

    Sanchez - Alli - Eriksen - Phillips - (Hazard)

    Ibrahimovic - Defoe - (Negredo)

    a) Antonio + Lukaku

    b) T.Carroll + Kane

    Any input appreciated....

Tempted to lose him this week, want .4 to fund another move and he's the one I'd not be that upset about losing.

What's everyone doing with their Chelsea defenders?

Liverpool, Arsenal, Burnley away, not the best fixtures, Swansea and West Ham are nicer but then there's a potential blank in 28.

Exactly my position. Don't want to swap him with those 3 fixtures and if he does fire he will create a fever of buying which would entail lots of hits to incorporate him in many teams.

Will give him those 3 games and see.

No knee jerking until after efl semis and fa cup matches at weekend and fa cup draw early next week. A lot of information and guidance to gw26 and gw28 is available before next week's midweek fixtures. Definitely holding my 2 transfers until at least Monday night regardless of rises and falls. What is your strategy ????

      Sterling - OUT
Maybe Zaha and one more expensive defender? Those wingbacks are really hitting it at the moment.

I would switch Fletcher aswell to maybe Davies/Carroll, more likely to get attacking points I think.

    Heaton Pickford
    Alonso Brunt Baines Holebas Amat
    Sanchez Alli Lallana Phillips DeRoon
    Costa Defoe Ibra
    1 FT, 1.9 itb

    A) Holebas --> Walker/Rose will have a benching headache every week in defense.
    B) Lallana --> Eriksen

Think it is negative for us fpl-managers. Could lose penalties and corners now, and I think his involment will be less than with Hull sadly..

I would assume he'd be straight in, it's a big chunk of money to be spending. I think Gray is likely to benefit from chance creation.

Does anyone really trust Barkley or Mirallas to bring home decent points tallies.

I owned Mirallas in the opening weeks and he was a bigger disappointment than Second Coming.

    GTG?

    Heaton (Foster)
    Gibson, McAuley, Baines (Alonso, Mee)
    Sanchez(C), Alli, Philips, Stanislas (Antonio)
    Kane, Ibra, Crouch

    I doubt Alonso the most.

Are you playing Phillips for CS points?
Gibson doing well = Phillips 3 pointer so you are hedging a bit.
Pool are terrible so Alonso scoring would be a disaster.

Actually, I give Liverpool an edge in that game and I can imagine fast goal and a lot of scoring. Or clean Chelsea win. Also I can't decide in Mid v WBA. A lot of hesitating actually!

Meh. Change the BPS scoring maybe or don't make it live. The problem is some stats like losing the ball are calculated later.

The OPTA feed doesn't include losing the ball so they get deducted later. Certain players lose a ball a bit depending on if they like to dribble like Sanchez.

I know but the fact FPL Tweeted that they would give an explanation specifically about Sanchez losing his Baps seem to indicate they would give us something more than just a link to the rules

Why Tweet something in the first place

the problem is that they announce them at the end of the game and then change them. If they are going to change them post match dont give them out beforehand

    Would allow

    Heaton (Pickford)
    Alonso Walker Brunt (Yoshida Holgate)
Sanchez Alli Coutinho Carroll or Davies (rotating)
    Costa Zlatan Kane

This is why it's too far ahead to plan for it, people could be bringing in West Ham/Bournemouth players then realise it's not as bad as they thought after the next round.

Most PL teams are sure to play weaker teams this weekend as there's league games 2 days after, I'm sure there will be a shock or two.

    Heaton(Lei)
    Baines(@Stoke) Mcauley(@Boro) Alonso(@Pool) Daniels(Pal) Jones(Hull)
    Alexis(Wat) Alli(@Sun) Stanislas(Pal)
    Ibra(Hull) Kane(@Sun)
    BENCH: Tom Davies(@Stoke) Phillips(@Boro) Defoe(Tot) Pick(injured)

    Do I :
    A. Play Davies instead of Daniels?
    B. Play Phillips instead of Alonso?
