The ScoutCast – Episode 212 – Forearmed

And so it begins. This is our time – the period of the season where the hours of planning and strategising lay the foundations for big hauls to come.

Blanks and double Gameweeks are looming, and we’re clearing our heads in preparation to embrace the variables and manoeuvrings they present. We’re not sure if we’re going to be able to fully exploit them, but we’re certain that, should we fail, it won’t be for a lack of planning.

Guided by your questions, it all starts here, in this latest episode of the ScoutCast, where Jonty and Andy join me to pick through the early “known unknowns” and lay down the groundwork.

Elsewhere in the episode, we overcome Jonty’s “cow on the line” incident to embark on some formation dancing; considering the shift back to 3-4-3 and, once again, entertaining the idea of a big spend in defence.

This episode of the ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Tuesday night. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

have the exact fund to do Chambers+Defoe -> Lukaku+Coleman
    for -4 hit
    A) Do it (consider chambers on injury also)
    B) Chambers->Coleman this week and Defoe->Lukaku next week
    C) Vice versa

    Exact funds for Stanislas-Carroll & Giroud-Kane.

Pull the trigger as it sets me up for blanks and gets Kane in for a great fixture?

    A. Stanislas to Erikssen
    B. Giroud to Kane
    C. Lukaku to Kane
    D. GTG

    Grant
    Baines Brunt Valencia
    Sanchez Alli Stanislas Phillips
    Ibra Lukaku Giroud

Giroud vs Watford anyway. Low risk for Wenger to bench him due to Walcott fit again, since Gru got 3 goal in the last 4 match. CMIIW..

4 goals 2 assists last 5. Stanislas has a good fixture. These kind of trade outs could easily backfire

Walcott plays in Iwobi's position. Unbelievable how people keep associating Walcott return with Giroud

Mainly because Ars best team(not best fpl) is Alexis up front with Walcott-Ozil-Iwobi/Ox behind.
It's not too hard to think Giroud is out

I agree BUT when Walcott, Giroud, Iwobi, Sanchez and Welbeck are all fit again then Wenger will have a decision to make and it may well be Welbeck and Walcott on each wing which means that Giroud will lose his place to Sanchez (hopefully).

Have exact money to do Defoe, Capoue > Lukaku, T Carroll. Worth doing for a hit?

    Rest of team

    Foster, Pickford
    Alonso, Baines, Jones, Daniels, Kingsley
    Sanchez, Alli, Phillips, Lallana
    Costa, Ibra

    Any other suggestions gratefully received.

Wanted to keep Aguero+Hazard but i will lose 0.1 on both if i dont sale.
Even if they do well(i think Aguero will)no one will bring them back before blanks so they will not go up in price.

Gamble and keep them on bench for blanks and lose value or sell ?

    Sanchez Hazard Alli Lallana Phillips
    Ibra Lukaku

    Jaku Friend Barnes Amat

The question is what to do with Hazard?

I'm kinda thinking Ibra thinks, and possibly rightly, that he's proven himself in England. That desperation and hunger he had in the Swansea game just seems to have vanished. Aguero, while being played out of position, could benefit against West Ham, who just can't handle the slick teams. That Sanchez massacre!!

      Ok- Kiwi
      Heaton Pickford
      Alonso Baines Daniels Mcauley Jones
Alli Alexis Stanislas Phillips Tom Davies
      Ibra Kane Defoe

      Can't decide-
      A) Defoe Phillips Daniels Pickford on the bench in 4-4-2?
      B) Play all defenders and bench Davies and Phillips and Defoe in 5-3-2?

However, Philips may struggle to score on Boro's defense at Boro's pitch. That was my thought process

Evil said the same- see my response above. Boro game maybe 0-0 being played at Boro so that is why I favored a Baggie Defender instead of Midfielder.
          Cheers!

      Friend.
He was always going to get his place back and Fabios benching is a sign of things to come.
Another 3 goals conceded at home may change that though but there was a change of formation so I expect a flat back 4 again.

    Morning chaps,

Does anyone know of a stats table in members area where I can compare players stats using games PLAYED rather than recent gameweeks if that makes sense ?

Should probably explain..For example if I'm looking to transfer Lallana to potentially either Zaha or Snodgrass i would like to compare both players stats during minutes played, obviously while Zaha was at AFCON his last 2 gameweek stats are irrelevant.

    Cheers

In the Comparison Tool, you can just run the players you want to compare on All Matches (or any game week range you want) and either pay close attention to the stats by minutes played or check the boxes for "Show averages per appearance" under their names.

    Heaton (Jaku)
    Baines, Daniels, Brunt (Chambers*, Yoshi)
    Sanchez, Alli, Eriksen, Phillips (Stan)
    Ibra, Lukaku, Gru

1FT, 1.6 ITB, what to do?

    Chambers injury an issue.

That is one heck of a midfield.
I would move Chambers to Walker or Save and only transfer if a fall or two is imminent for Chambers. However, if you want Kane then you will have too many Spurs and not enough $. Depends on your plans.
Game week 26 would favor adding another Everton or West Brom player. Holgate would leave $itb.

Pochettino expects Kane to be available for Tuesday trip to Sunderland. Of course Spurs aren't going to risk him vs Wycombe. Will press conferences be after FA Cup ties? I really want to Captain Kane next Gameweek.

Ya there'll be another presser. I want to C him too, thinking Alli might be a safer pick no. Solid returns over the past few weeks..

I hope he doesn't get played as it means the goals can only come from two sources then instead of three, and I own one of said sources!

I have both. If Kane is ok I will sell Aguero for Kane for the two blank weeks as Aguero will be the same price to buy back in. Assuming of course Aguero does ok in the next 3 that is. If not, he will be gone permanently

Tom Carroll or Tom Davies as a 5th mid?

Davies is the more exciting pick, but Carroll is more guaranteed of starts...which is usually what you want from your fifth mid because he's only there for auto-subs.

4.2m for a startng mid. Davies looks almost playable. Carroll for 5th mid. Maybe Davies later for 4th mid for 26 and 28 blank unless you value the Everton spots got other players

Points scores by medium>>high price forwards over the last 5 games PLAYED

    Kane - 44
    Ibra - 37
    Giroud - 37
    Defoe - 30
    Carrol - 29
    Lukaku - 28
    Costa - 22
    Aguero - 12

Shocking to see Aguero rooted to the bottom here, most expensive player in the game. Was always the first name on my teamsheet. Pep has destroyed him this season..

The problem is that if Chelsea score he'll likely be involved, I have Costa/Ibra/Giroud atm and no Hazard.
Be a brave move to go without any attacker from the league leaders though ?

I've barely had him all season. Bought gw4 C 24pts then sold on gw6 WC. Got sucked in with Hazard after 19pts and only got rid 2 weeks ago. Only Alonso now. Costa has scored in 3 of last 5 played and 6pts each time

Agreed, he's by no means prolific or explosive whereas Kane certainly is. Suppose it's the brave moves that can fire you up the rankings. No point being too conservative, it is a game after all..

Can I get some views on this thinking here please?

Had 2 FTs, did Hazard > Eriksen and left with 1 FT and 1.9 in bank.

    Heaton
    Alonso - Coleman - McAuley
    Alli (c) - Eriksen - Lallana - Phillips
    Aguero - Zlatan - Giroud

    Jaku - Fletcher - Amat - Holebas

Haven't had Sanchez for a while now and I'm hiding behind the sofa every time Arsenal play. Still doing well in top 10k and I think with the blank coming up it's not worth bringing him in. Thinking to save the FT to get 2 next GW when I'll probably bring in Lukaku for Giroud.

Great team that. You've done well up to now without Sanchez so I would agree that timing not great to bring him in with blanks etc.
I'd be more concerned by no Kane, I know Kun has 3 good fixtures but if he blanks again I'd ship him for Harry.

Definitely, Lukaku and Kane (after Aguero has Swansea) are definitely next on my list. Especially as currently all 3 forwards will likely blank GW 26.
