The Stock Check – Gameweek 26 – Sunday

Harry Kane runs riot as Spurs put four past Stoke without reply at White Hart Lane. Mauricio Pochettino’s decision to roll out a 3-4-2-1 also reignites the Fantasy potential of Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli after both were subject to sales aplenty prior to Gameweek 26. Meanwhile, at Wembley it’s a tale of two strikers in the EFL Cup Final as, almost inevitably, Zlatan Ibrahimovic claims a leading role.

On the Rise

Harry Kane
The frontman turned in his most emphatic Fantasy display of the season by playing a part in all four of Spurs’ goals in a home demolition of Stoke.

With Mauricio Pochettino choosing to retain the 3-4-2-1 formation utilised against Gent in midweek, Kane banished a run of one strike in the previous four Gameweeks in style, racking up three goals and an assist.

Kane has now notched seven times in his last three home appearances ahead of next week’s visit from Everton and those who were eyeing up a swap to Sergio Aguero – should City clinch a double Gameweek 27 – may now think twice.

In saying that, Aguero would also face Stoke as well as Sunderland if City defeat Huddersfield in the FA Cup on Wednesday and the Potters’ abject defensive display looks potentially very promising for Pep Guardiola’s men.

Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli
The Dane banished a run of four straight league blanks by providing two assists for the third time in his last four home outings.

Shipped by more than 45,000 FPL managers last week, Eriksen had hinted at a return to form in midweek by grabbing a goal and assist in the stalemate with Gent and he maintained that momentum with an 11-point return against Mark Hughes’ men – impressively, that’s a fifth double-figure haul in his last seven at the Lane.

Sold by more FPL managers (66,000+) than any other player boasting a fixture in Gameweek 26, Alli was back in the goals, with Pochettino choosing to retain him in the first XI after his midweek moment of madness.

Alli’s strike – only a second in the last six Gameweeks – ensures that his battle with Eriksen for our midfield attentions continues to rage on, with the pair ranked third and fourth respectively in the FPL midfield standings.

With home encounters against Everton, Southampton, Watford and Bournemouth allied with trips to Burnley and Swansea City in the next seven rounds of fixtures, those who had considered parting company to cope with Spurs’ blank Gameweek 28 may now be reconsidering.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic
The talismanic Swede just had to have the final say in what was a compelling EFL Cup final.

His late decisive header from point blank range capped another two-goal performance and continued a bout of relentless scoring form ahead of a Gameweek 27 meeting with Bournemouth at Old Trafford.

Earmarked as a likely captain for that clash, enthusiasm has since been tempered by the revelation that City and Aguero may now have two fixtures. However, Zlatan’s performance today issued another reminder that we overlook his claims at our peril.

Certainly, the 281,000 who sold the Swede ahead of Gameweek 26 will be pondering the possibility of a recall, if not for the Cherries visit, perhaps after United’s blank in Gameweek 28.

Manolo Gabbiadini
Another two predatory strikes, a third goal ruled out – it’s fair to say that any remaining doubts surrounding the Saints striker were extinguished by Sunday’s performance.

Having fired three goals in two Premier League starts, the Italian had already caught the eye of Fantasy managers.

The huge investment and transfer numbers ahead of a Gameweek 26 blank were somewhat mystifying but, following today’s Wembley showing, there will be many more managers taking the bait.

Like Ibrahimovic, Gabbiadini will suffer a blank in Gameweek 28 and will follow that with a testing trip to Spurs. However, two home fixtures with Bournemouth and Palace from Gameweek 30 provide an obvious window for investment.

We may need to pay quite a bit more for the striker by that point: Gabbiadini has already become the top transfer target ahead of Gameweek 27, collecting more than 31,000 new owners already.

In Decline

Peter Crouch
With a potential double Gameweek 27 just around the corner, Fantasy managers were hoping for signs of form from Stoke at the Lane.

Instead, we were left with little reason for optimism after the 4-0 capitulation, with Mark Hughes’ men failing to impress at either end of the pitch.

Furthermore, Crouch’s 6.1% of FPL owners were left worrying over his pitch time after he was withdrawn before the hour-mark for the second time in three Gameweeks.

Those currently retaining Crouch will surely retain his services in the likelihood of a double, but with Saido Berahino stepping up his sharpness with more minutes off the bench as the target man’s replacement, would-be suitors may be thinking twice.

Jan Vertonghen, Toby Alderweireld
Spurs will be hoping that their twelfth clean sheet of the campaign didn’t come at a cost after both defenders limped off during the second-half.

Whilst Vertonghen managed 65 minutes to claim a clean sheet, Alderweireld’s unfortunate Fantasy season continued as he limped off just three minutes after the break, earning his owners no more than a single-point return.

Optimistically, Pochettino revealed post-match that the pair were withdrawn as a precaution, boosting their chances of making next Sunday’s clash with Everton.

With Danny Rose still stuck on the sidelines, though, the defensive options are limited right now and should both Belgians fail to recover, there’s a chance that Spurs will need to revert back to a 4-2-3-1 formation, forcing us to reassess their main men once again.

Hi all. Front eight and have 1FT and 5.9 ITB

    Alli, Firmino, Coutinho, Phillips, Stanislas
    Ibra, Lukaku, Anichebe

    So
    A) Lukaku -> Aguero (c)
    B) Stanislas / Phillips-> Sterling
    C) Stanislas / Phillips-> Siggy
    D) A + B (-4)
    E) A + C (-4)
    F) A + B + C (-8)

    Hello All,

Trailing ML leader by 45pts - reduced by whatever Firmino gets me against LEI (i.e I'll be trailing by 43). However, he has already used his WC, is set up rather poorly for GW28 as only has 6 starters at the moment - (Robles, Coleman, McAuley, Keane, Mane, Lukaku) and his only City player at the moment is Jesus.

My current team is below with * noting the 10 players I would currently be starting in GW28

    Heaton/Jaku*
Alonso, Baines*, Brunt*, Funes Mori*, Pieters
    Mane*, Firmino*, Siggy*, Phillips*, King*
    Ibra, Lukaku*, Costa

I have 1 FT and 3.1m ITB and I am considering one of the below for -8 (I have exact cash for either ATM)

    A) Costa/Phillps/Baines to Kun/Sterling/Mawson. (The Baines to Mawson part is required to fund the other moves)

    B) Costa/Phillps/King to Kun/Sterling/Carroll (again, King to Carroll is done purely to fund the other moves.)

Either of the above would leave me with 9 decent players for GW28 (well except Carroll) plus 1 FT to add another if I want (and I am not sure I want more than 9)

would appreciate advice on which of the above I should pick, or should I just do lukaku or Costa to Kun !

    Thanks

Fitting in Aguero for the Double Game Week

For those who currently have a front line of Ibra - Kane - Lukaku who will you drop?

    A) Ibra - BOU followed by gw28 blank, mid, WBA
    B) Lukaku - tot, WBA (no blank), HUL, liv
    C) EVE followed by gw28 blank, SOT, bur

The initial plan was to drop Spur assets (Alli, Eriksen, Kane) for City assets (Sterling, Sane, Aguero). After yesterday's performance has that plan changed ?

    Last year comes to mind....

Can't drop Ibra with Bournemouth (H) and his form...if I get Kun it'll have to be for Kane, but I don't know if I can get rid of him tbh.

        problematic isn't it ?
Aguero's point ceiling in 2 game weeks vs sun and STO is much higher than Kane's vs EVE
yet we all have emotional attachment to a player who rightly so is on form.

Do we think Kane will outscore Aguero on this gameweek? Simple answer is no yet it's just so hard to get rid

Depends on whether you would want Kane after 29...... I consider the Kane-Aguero-Kane hokey pokey to be worth 8 points.... if you will be TCíng its a no brainer but i also feel that Kane +8 could outscore Aguero.....

Took me minus 8 to get this
    Total games GW27 and GW28 (27)
    9 playing GW28
    I will have 0.2 ITB

I will have to take -4 to get Sterling to Mane and Kun to Carroll (if fit) GW 28

This week's hot topic should be.
        Provided Ciity beat Huddersfield:
What forwards to have over the next 2 weeks.

Kaku 2 games although hard GW27. can you afford to move him out and back in (8pts)
Kane 1 good GW after a hattie.
Ibra 1 great GW and losing a few bob moving him for Kun.
Costa 1 away game against a side who can let in goals at home.
If you have a low price forward and want Kun do you screw up your side to get Kun to replace him.

Its pretty close. Let your ML opponents decide for you? If chasing, make moves that gives you differentials. If leading, cancel your rivals out. Eg if your rival has Costa - Kane - Carrol, and you are in the lead, then sell Ibra.

Likely to be low scoring game, I would back Kane to score since he is on penalties

  18. Winston.

Who to sell in order to get Aguero ?

    A. Kane
    B. Costa

Kane is more explosive, but Costa has slightly better fixtures in the coming gw's....

    Thanks.

I have both and Lukaku. I'm biased to Spurs so want to keep Kane, but it's a tough choice.

Annoyingly I'm going with Lukaku and then get him back for GW28, could be a waste of a transfer but I'd fancy both Kane and Costa to score GW27 where I can see Lukaku being shut out the game.

Thinking exact same. Front 3 are Luk, Kane and Costa

        GW27: Luk + Alli -> Aguero + Sterling (-4)
        GW28: Aguero + Sterling -> Luk + Siggy (-4)

        Pretty settled on it

Tonight will determine if my Sanchez + Ibra > Firmino Kane transfer this week was really worth it - took the risk because I'm chasing big time. Need some points for Firmino for some peace of mind and buffer for GW27.

No Ibra or Sanchez for 27. And Kane was already earmarked as a one week punt before shifting to Aguero in 28. All in or nothing at all I guess!

Question is, after Kane's performance....is the Aguero move a sensible one? Or better off getting Sterling in only?

Lol.. I am chasing the leader in my ml, did ibra, sanch> kaku, mane.
Then find out the leader did the same moves.
      Wht was ur opponent's moves?

sorry for late reply. was called out to a meeting. ML leader did Mane in, I already had Mane so knew he was trying to block my moves.

He kept Ibra though and doesn't have Kane so that was a good move for me.

again not a big fan of city players. but sterling seems to getting his groove back on. then again...pep likes to ...troll

im holding ibra for gw27 but seeing he got kicked around in that cup final i wont be surprised if he could be a doubt.

if city gets that DGW i would like to bring sterling in but it might cost me a -4.
but who to sacrifice...Sanchez with good scoring form in away matches (liverpool) or Ibra with a good good against new whipping boys bour. but both will blank 28.

I think Aguero is sensible regardless of the result on Wednesday. He will play twice between now and GW29 against decent opposition.

This is why I think United will struggle to finish top 4. Best chance of CL is winning the EL.

I currently sit 2nd in my ML. The leader has gone from 17pts to 70pts infront of me after a string of successive captain choices. Is there anyway back for me?

He's used his wildcard, which I still have to play. It seems every time I get close he pulls away. Anyone in a similar position?

Exact same. I am still confident

The fact my ML leader has used his wildcard and got rid of most of the big hitters puts me one step ahead.

It's annoying as soon as I closed the gap to 17pts he wildcarded and effectively copied my team but has just picked the right captain. This game is frustrating

      Exct same position.
50 point gap now. Every time i make some ground, he advances with some better captain choices. Like my ibra(c) vs his sanchez(c) gw25,, my kaku(c) vs his kane(c) this gw.
      So frustrating

Tell me about it, I had Lukaku VC for his 4 goal haul and Kane VC for his haul yesterday, where as my ML leader both had captain. I don't think I've ever been as bad as picking a captain as this year! Currently on 1399pts.

    Heaton,
    Alonso, Coleman, Baines, Evans,
    Mane, Alli, Siggy,
    Benteke, Lukaku, Ibra

Jaku, Phillips, Fletcher, Amat. 1FT and £4.4m ITB.

0.1m short of Alli and Benteke to Sane and Kun and I'm 70 points behind my rival, so I'm willing to take a gamble...

    A) Alli and Benteke to Yaya and Kun (-4)
    B) Phillips, Alli and Benteke to Markovic, Sane and Kun (-8)
    C) Heaton, Alli and Benteke to Grant, Sane and Kun (-8)

    Thoughts guys?

I dnt really like taking hits unless player is injured.
A is good if u really need that hit. only after the city game.

Agreed, me too normally but it seems as though that is the only way I can bring in Kun for Benteke. Quite risky either way..

Aguero seems a good option regardless of whether there is a double GW?

If City lose then he plays GW27 and GW28 against decent opposition anyway. Just need to make sure that he does not play on Wednesday and get injured.

Costa out Ibra in worth a hit?

Would leave me with a killer front three of Kun - Kane - Ibra.

But Costa could score vs WHM right?
