The Stock Check – Gameweek 26 – Sunday

Harry Kane runs riot as Spurs put four past Stoke without reply at White Hart Lane. Mauricio Pochettino’s decision to roll out a 3-4-2-1 also reignites the Fantasy potential of Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli after both were subject to sales aplenty prior to Gameweek 26. Meanwhile, at Wembley it’s a tale of two strikers in the EFL Cup Final as, almost inevitably, Zlatan Ibrahimovic claims a leading role.

On the Rise

Harry Kane
The frontman turned in his most emphatic Fantasy display of the season by playing a part in all four of Spurs’ goals in a home demolition of Stoke.

With Mauricio Pochettino choosing to retain the 3-4-2-1 formation utilised against Gent in midweek, Kane banished a run of one strike in the previous four Gameweeks in style, racking up three goals and an assist.

Kane has now notched seven times in his last three home appearances ahead of next week’s visit from Everton and those who were eyeing up a swap to Sergio Aguero – should City clinch a double Gameweek 27 – may now think twice.

In saying that, Aguero would also face Stoke as well as Sunderland if City defeat Huddersfield in the FA Cup on Wednesday and the Potters’ abject defensive display looks potentially very promising for Pep Guardiola’s men.

Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli
The Dane banished a run of four straight league blanks by providing two assists for the third time in his last four home outings.

Shipped by more than 45,000 FPL managers last week, Eriksen had hinted at a return to form in midweek by grabbing a goal and assist in the stalemate with Gent and he maintained that momentum with an 11-point return against Mark Hughes’ men – impressively, that’s a fifth double-figure haul in his last seven at the Lane.

Sold by more FPL managers (66,000+) than any other player boasting a fixture in Gameweek 26, Alli was back in the goals, with Pochettino choosing to retain him in the first XI after his midweek moment of madness.

Alli’s strike – only a second in the last six Gameweeks – ensures that his battle with Eriksen for our midfield attentions continues to rage on, with the pair ranked third and fourth respectively in the FPL midfield standings.

With home encounters against Everton, Southampton, Watford and Bournemouth allied with trips to Burnley and Swansea City in the next seven rounds of fixtures, those who had considered parting company to cope with Spurs’ blank Gameweek 28 may now be reconsidering.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic
The talismanic Swede just had to have the final say in what was a compelling EFL Cup final.

His late decisive header from point blank range capped another two-goal performance and continued a bout of relentless scoring form ahead of a Gameweek 27 meeting with Bournemouth at Old Trafford.

Earmarked as a likely captain for that clash, enthusiasm has since been tempered by the revelation that City and Aguero may now have two fixtures. However, Zlatan’s performance today issued another reminder that we overlook his claims at our peril.

Certainly, the 281,000 who sold the Swede ahead of Gameweek 26 will be pondering the possibility of a recall, if not for the Cherries visit, perhaps after United’s blank in Gameweek 28.

Manolo Gabbiadini
Another two predatory strikes, a third goal ruled out – it’s fair to say that any remaining doubts surrounding the Saints striker were extinguished by Sunday’s performance.

Having fired three goals in two Premier League starts, the Italian had already caught the eye of Fantasy managers.

The huge investment and transfer numbers ahead of a Gameweek 26 blank were somewhat mystifying but, following today’s Wembley showing, there will be many more managers taking the bait.

Like Ibrahimovic, Gabbiadini will suffer a blank in Gameweek 28 and will follow that with a testing trip to Spurs. However, two home fixtures with Bournemouth and Palace from Gameweek 30 provide an obvious window for investment.

We may need to pay quite a bit more for the striker by that point: Gabbiadini has already become the top transfer target ahead of Gameweek 27, collecting more than 31,000 new owners already.

In Decline

Peter Crouch
With a potential double Gameweek 27 just around the corner, Fantasy managers were hoping for signs of form from Stoke at the Lane.

Instead, we were left with little reason for optimism after the 4-0 capitulation, with Mark Hughes’ men failing to impress at either end of the pitch.

Furthermore, Crouch’s 6.1% of FPL owners were left worrying over his pitch time after he was withdrawn before the hour-mark for the second time in three Gameweeks.

Those currently retaining Crouch will surely retain his services in the likelihood of a double, but with Saido Berahino stepping up his sharpness with more minutes off the bench as the target man’s replacement, would-be suitors may be thinking twice.

Jan Vertonghen, Toby Alderweireld
Spurs will be hoping that their twelfth clean sheet of the campaign didn’t come at a cost after both defenders limped off during the second-half.

Whilst Vertonghen managed 65 minutes to claim a clean sheet, Alderweireld’s unfortunate Fantasy season continued as he limped off just three minutes after the break, earning his owners no more than a single-point return.

Optimistically, Pochettino revealed post-match that the pair were withdrawn as a precaution, boosting their chances of making next Sunday’s clash with Everton.

With Danny Rose still stuck on the sidelines, though, the defensive options are limited right now and should both Belgians fail to recover, there’s a chance that Spurs will need to revert back to a 4-2-3-1 formation, forcing us to reassess their main men once again.

    Hey all,

    1FT, 3.2m

    Heaton (Pickford)
    Pieters McAuley Coleman (Holebas Baines)
    Sigurdsson Mane Eriksen Alli (Phillips)
    Kane Lukaku Carroll

After a 9th green arrow I'm resigned to a red next week, but what should I look at? (I'll wait for the City result)

    1. Aguero in
    2. Alli out
    3. Phillips > Firmino
    4. Alli > Sterling
    5. ???

At a loss. Cheers in advance!

Alli to Sterling and Lukaku to Kun and hokey pokey Lukaku back for 28 and Sterling to Firmino too. Do 2 hits with 1 hokey pokey.

          I hate a hokey pokey.

It comes down to what I think happens in Spurs vs. Everton.

I have 6 players in that game right now 😀

              😀

In my experience they turn out badly with players not getting full gametime or other players getting injured and requiring hits.

The blank after with few people fielding a full team makes this double a little bit of a trap I'm afraid.

Risk reward. You can't take the gambler out of the idiot :). I am only going 2 city though .not 3. 8 or 9 for 28 will be fine I think. I can only afford Sane not Sterling.

      Oh I didn't see 'just'.

I don't actually think this is as big a risk as some think. A risk, but if it sets you up for 28 and still gives you a strong 27 I think it could* work.

Looking at your team it looks like
                A)Erik/Alli > Citeh Mid
                and/or
                B)Kane > Aguero

If it was me, I'd swallow hard & do both.
Erik/Alli would almost be determined by how much value lost although I'm shifting Erik for GW28.

Spurs v Everton usually end out low scoring draws - I'd use that to comfort yourself if you make the switch.

It's a tough set of fixtures but we're all in the same boat, time to be brave is my feeling.

    Big thanks to the DZ.

I only have 5 red arrows since GW5, and 9 greens in a row right now - nearly all of that is because we are able to ask and answer questions on the slow pages here. The suggestions and talking-down-from-knee-jerk-ledges are so important. It works out well being in Canada, and really my good decisions are thanks to this bit of the community.

This double and blank talk over the last bit of the season will be vital. Let's make a push to the end. Thanks all 🙂

    Who wins GW29?

    A. Aguero (C) and Alli
    B. KDB (C) and Kane + 4

Takes Aguero one more hit over weeks 27-29 to make my planned transfers. Would be getting rid of Alli regardless. Kane would be coming back in GW29

    Good morning!!!

Really unsure what to do with week!

    Jaku (Pick)
    Coleman Brunt McAuley Alonso (Cedric)
    Mané Alli Siggy (Phillips Stan)
    Kaku Ibra Kane

    1ft .3itb

So, was set on Alli/Kane --> Sterling /Kun. Now I'm not so sure. These transfer with an enabling one for a -8 is what I need to do. But then come 29, I'm not going to want them, I'm going to want Kane and Alli back. That's another 4 points gone.

Is Ibra to one to make way for Kun? I'm not sure he'll be that hungry for goals against Bournemouth and I can't see him being 100% after that game last night.

So anyway (I'm bored and just writing down my thoughts).

    a) do I drop Kane or Ibra for Kun?
    b) forget about Kun and just go Sterling?
    c) ignore City, stick to my plan and save free this week. Then do Cedric Stan and Ibra to Mawson T.Carroll and Barnes for gw28 for a -4. This will allow me to do Phillips and Brunt to Sanchez and Walker for GW29 and still have funds for Lukaku to Ibra for the United doubles.
    (waiting for results of course)

    Thanks

When you bring Sterling/Sane as enabler its fine, that makes sense. When King/Fraser are used as enabler, that looks like a waste of pts 😮

        Easy win for first option?

        A) Costa(whm), Ibra(BOU)
        Alli(EVE)
        Fernandez(BUR, hul)

        B) Aguero(sun, STK)

        So something like this:

GW28: Save FT and field 9

GW29: Aguero and Snodgrass to Gabiaddini and Sanchez for -4pts

0.1 short of Jesus + Eriksen > Kun + Sane so which do you prefer?

    A) Jesus, Lukaku, Eriksen > Kun, Llorente, Sterling (-8) - Get Llorente for GW27+28
    Kun > Lukaku GW28
    B) Jesus, Eriksen, Mane > Kun, Sterling, Sane. (-8) 3DGW players.

Oh, Antonio ban. Forgot about that. I'm shopping for a 6.4m mid myself. Asked earlier in this same page. Want set pieces from my cheap mid. Antonio will miss the Chelsea game right? Don't expect much from Snodgrass there. Was looking at Grosicki from Hull. Nailed on, on corners, one of their playmakers, no blanks and Hull have cracking fixtures. Just not sure how many goals they'll score.

Anyone else doubt that Mark is actually going to be as aggressive getting DGW assets as he has indicated in his article? I think he will only do Costa to Aguero next week (regardless of DGW or not)

Sterling may get a go seeing he mentioned him in the FPL Show.

Aye, just can't see him taking a hit for him and then taking another hit to get him out.

I think him indicating that he was going to be aggressive for the
DGW is simply mind games directed towards you in particular. Don't fall for it.

Better pick the right ones. You will need 2 attacking returns to cover up the hits.

I have Kane, Lukaku and Rondon. So easy choice for me - Kane out.

      B or C. Not A.

      I`m considering two options:

      Alli, Kane--->Sterling, Aguero
      Alli, Lukaku --> Snodgrass, Aguero

      Lukaku ➡ Aguero (C)
then Ibra ➡ Lukaku for GW28

will get Ibra back for his DGW

Who've you got the least value in? That one. Hokey-cokey Aguero in and back out again.

Thinking about Alli & Costa to Sterling & Aguero (C potentially TC) if man city has a DGW - thoughts?

Own all 3 and almost certain a hokey cokey with Aguero and Lukaku has the most potential points.

Ibra & Kane have far superior fixtures this week.

Wow, thanks for the response and sorry I got called away and couldn't join in yesterday!

The trouble with the hokey-cokey is it would leave me short of numbers for 28 but if Aguero goes crazy, I suppose it doesn't really matter.

I should've also mentioned that he's getting the TC if he does come in. Stoke love conceding against the top sides and Sunderland are Sunderland.

Curious to know Bampot if your analysis factored in any hits?

Medium/long term, I definitely want Kane for the upcoming run of fixtures

I'm looking at three -4s in a row over the next three weeks for the same two spots in my team while the other 13 remain.

      -------------Jakupovic-----------
      ----Alonso Brunt Pieters---
      Mane *Alli* Siggy Antonio
      -------Ibra *Costa* Lukaku--
      --------------------------------------------
      Pickford Philips Coleman Daniels

27 Alli Costa > Sterling Aguero
28 Sterling Aguero > Firmino Carrol
29 Firmino Carroll > Sanchez Gabi

Will give me XI in 28 and Sanchez and Gab back immediately after blanks ready for any surprise doubles. Also leaves cash for Lukaku to Kane in 30.

Reckon it's worth 3 consecutive hits?

Yeah could do. Hopefully he'd have scored a monster score in 27 and have no worry about price drops pre 28. Caroll could be any forward that week but there's not a lot on offer
