The Midweek Team News

Jermain Defoe is doubtful for Sunderland’s trip to Leicester. Arsenal’s Laurent Koscielny is sidelined for a home clash with West Ham, who welcome back Michail Antonio. Fernando Llorente remains a concern as Swansea entertain Spurs, while Palace have problems at the back for their trip to St Mary’s.

Laurent Koscielny has been ruled out of Arsenal’s clash with West Ham due to the ongoing Achilles complaint that forced him off against Man City on Sunday. Aaron Ramsey and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain face late tests but could be in contention.

Michail Antonio is back for the Hammers after making a quick recovery from a hamstring injury. Aaron Cresswell will miss the next couple of matches, though Diafra Sakho has stepped up his fitness levels and has a chance of making the bench.

Marc Albrighton has recovered from illness in time for Leicester’s match with Sunderland. The Foxes need to make do without skipper Wes Morgan, though, who remains unavailable due to a back problem.

Jermain Defoe is doubtful for the Black Cats after missing training due to a knee issue picked up against Watford at the weekend.

Manolo Gabbiadini has failed to recover from a groin injury in time for Southampton’s match with Crystal Palace. Sofiane Boufal is uncertain to feature after sustaining a muscle problem during training.

Palace have mounting concerns in defence ahead of their trip to St Mary’s, with Scott Dann, James Tomkins and Patrick van Aanholt all ruled out by Sam Allardyce earlier this morning.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic returns from a three-match ban in time to face Everton. Jose Mourinho has doubts over the availability of Paul Pogba, and also conceded that he reckons Juan Mata is out “for a long time”.

Morgan Schneiderlin and Aaron Lennon remain unavailable for Everton’s trip to Old Trafford, though Ronald Koeman is hopeful that the former could be fit in time to face Leicester on Sunday.

Fernando Llorente remains “touch and go” for Swansea’s match with Spurs as he struggles to overcome an ankle problem that kept him out of the weekend goalless draw with Middlesbrough.

Harry Winks has been ruled out for Spurs with an ankle complaint, while fellow midfielder Victor Wanyama will undergo an assessment on a back problem.

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe was somewhat elusive in this morning’s briefing, hinting at “a couple of concerns” that he refused to elaborate on ahead of the trip to Liverpool.

Xherdan Shaqiri remains sidelined for Stoke’s clash against Burnley, while Peter Crouch (knee) is a concern.

Middlesbrough’s Fabio is ruled out for at least the next two matches with the concussion that forced him off at Swansea. Gaston Ramirez is set to be assessed after limping off at the Liberty with an ankle injury.

Matt Phillips remains a big doubt for West Brom’s trip to Watford – the wide man has no more than “an outside chance” of shrugging off a hamstring problem in time for tonight’s clash.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of this evening’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream for breaking news – as the day unfolds, we will issue updates from Tuesday’s press conferences and refresh our Team News tab accordingly to keep you informed.

Can anyone better this sequence of donkeys in my 3rd striker slot?

Rondon (owned for 8 games. Blanked in each) -> Llorente (owned for 3 games, carried off in 1, blanked the other and didn't start the third) -> Carroll (probable transfer in - carried off against us?)

    Dear me. How disgusting.

This is literally my choice this week due to budget constraints - Carroll or Tekkers? Just hideous. Carroll at 6.3 swings it - Tekkers can come in for 34 but I don't really mind going without for the time being. Plus big Andy tends to score against us.

DGW swung it for me, I now have 3 so no more thinking about it until 34 is upon us, my thinking is I can make transfers from here to 34 and not think about 34 in making them as im (close to) covered. No stand out option in that price, Andy stung me badly we dont work well together

Yeah I mean I haven't owned Carroll this year, so I have been thinking him. Tekkers is good, issue is I can't get Kun in for the weekend if I get him.

Got burnt before the blanks because I overplanned and screwed up the week-to-week, so I'm trying to play the weeks whilst having 34 in mind - for example, atm I'll be getting Ibra + Tekkers in for Carroll + Kun in 34, as every other transfer will be based around it!

        Just said, Carroll.

Kun on the weekend I'd avoid, too, cos I'll be bringing him in for Vardy and captaining with this enabler.

      I can do better.

      Gray - 16 pts for 4 games, Benteke - 17 pts in 6, Austin - 19 in 4, Iheanacho - 1 in 2, Origi - 9 in 4, Stanislas/Barnes - 18 in 5, most of those for a hit.

It's all gone downhill since Austin's injury. It's gotten to the point where if I played Fletcher every week I would have gotten more points now.

Oh man, Austingate - on that weekend, Austin was rising on the Saturday night but playing Sunday, wouldn't have been able to afford so I swapped him in. Of course he then goes and injures himself, so I had to take a -8 to remove him without playing a game for me!

    Did:

    Costa to Ibrahimovic
    Mkhitaryan to Walcott

    Vardy (C)

Left Bertrand, Siggy out of the starting eleven. Think Palace will score and I believe my beloved Spurs can keep a clean sheet over there.

Hopefully I took the right decisions. I need a good score at last!

Thank you for reply. He is indeed and he will be a golden asset logically in dgws but against Palace, hmmm don't know. Palace lately are a very hard nut to crack and also can find a goal from somewhere. We might see a 0-1 there

Usually he is and I like the player a lot but I watched Swansea vs Middleborough and although he was on every dead ball he did not have a target man to pass the ball to. Swansea looked toothless offensively without Lllorente and he might be out again but even with him on Spurs have the ability to shut the shop

Haven't checked odds but I fancy John Rahm to do well. Out of the big players I only like DJ and Spieth. I'm writing off Rory, Day, Bubba, Mickleson and Stenson, can't see any of them doing well. A first time major winner might be a good bet but not sure if the odds will be any good.

That's the follow up question. Didn't want to make it too daunting for y'all to answer. 😉

        Bench one from these...
        King
        Siggy
        Lukaku

Play all and save the transfer.

Aguero is finding form and has Hull next. Zaha can be unpredicatable.

It's that unpredictability that is hard to pass up. Kun is a lot of money that is only getting a goal a game maybe. Not a great track record against the weakest sides from memory either.

Fair enough. Perhaps look at it this way... if you were asked to put a £50 bet down on who you think will score the most points between now and the end of the season of the two, who would you put the money on? *

          * Obvs I've made an assumption that you're likely to keep the player until the season end

    What to do with Defoe?

    a) play him
    b) bench and play Holebas or Evans
    c) Ship him to someone, who?

      I'm in this boat...

My options are Benteke, Origi or Andy Carroll. Leaning towards Carroll for fixtures.

Any views as to when the remaining dgws could be?

Aside from those in the ticker, would the remaining teams with doubles likely fall in the same gw?

    Start one

    A) Baines (man u)

    B) Maguire (MID)

      Maguire.

I'm currently going with Maguire, just given how dire Boro's scoring record is. Everton looking a bit shaky and depleted too. Not that Baines is a terrible option given Utd seem like they'll be fielding a weakened attack.

Sitting with 0FT and £1.8M ITB, anything worth a hit for tonight? Trying to save some cash for Kane/ Ibra, not sure whether to do the latter now or wait…

    Jaku
    Alonso Walker McAuley

    Costa Lukaku

    Heaton T Carrol Holgate FMori

        Oh yeah...Llorente

  26. Geordienufc1

In my position, would you make any moves?

    Foster
    Alonso | Walker | Maguire
    Sanchez (C) | Eriksen | Alli | Siggy
    Lukaku | Llorente* | Defoe*

    Pickford; Baines, Capoue, Francis

    1.5mil itb, 0 FT:

Options include getting rid of Llorente or Defoe for a player like Origi. Difficult to know which of those two I'd rather keep, but assuming neither will play tomorrow I feel justified in taking a hit to remove one of them.

    Any thoughts?

    A) Mane to Alli
    B) Mane + Lukaku --> Sanchez + Origi for -4

    Thoughts on both?

Am I right to be bricking it with no sanchez

Could do siggy sanchez for -4.

This GW – Origi, Carroll, Vardy
Next GW – Origi, Carroll, Lukaku
