Dugout Discussion

Dugout Discussion – Wednesday

The extended Gameweek 34 continues with a big night that delivers three hugely anticipated matches.

There could barely be more Fantasy interest across the trio of encounters, with a scattering of key assets in action.

Firstly, Middlesbrough’s Alvaro Negredo, signed by 201,000 and backed by an improbable 155,000 (3.5%), will bid to improve on a dismal 2-point return from his first fixture when he faces Sunderland at the Riverside Stadium. A crunch encounter for both teams, there will also be keen interest in the Boro defence with Ben Gibson signed by 118,000+ ahead of Saturday’s deadline.

Crystal Palace’s Christian Benteke was undoubtedly the weekend’s star performer with a brace at Anfield to provide his 506,000+ ownership with a 12-point return. Backed by 96,000 (2.1%) with the armband, he will look to build on that return in tonight’s encounter with Spurs.

But the title-challenging visitors will boast their own cast of key figures, with Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen supported by an army of Fantasy owners. Kane is himself backed by 244,000 with the GW34 captaincy.

Finally, at the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal will host Leicester City as they bid to revive their top four ambitions having navigated to the FA Cup Final at the weekend.

The big news from north London is that Alexis Sanchez may just be restored to the central striker role, with both Danny Welbeck and Olivier Giroud benched – Theo Walcott comes in and could also be a contender for that position if Wenger retains the 3-4-2-1 system.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

          Me.

I know. I was far more confident with Benteke captain than this decision.

When the deadline passed I did feel slightly shocked that I gambled this much.

I have identified what led me down this road and believe it or not it started by decisions from 2GWs ago, frittering away AOA and not sticking to my mantra of actively avoiding bench head aches at every turn.

What's more annoying though none of my other 4 mids did anything and I know some people who benched Alli and got away with it.

Who do you think will start at LB for United tonight?

    A) Shaw
    B) Darmian
    C) Young

Shaw had his rest at weekend but you'd think Jose preferes Darmian for this fixture since he is more defensive minded of the two.

Would you be happy saving FT with this 3-5-2 for the gameweek? Have 6 million burning a hole in my pocket. All three boro players on the bench need to go.

    Pickford
    Valencia Yoshida Vertonghan
    Sanchez Alli Sterling Zaha JWP
    Kane Benteke

    Valdes Negredo Chambers Mustafi

yep. but he is also a potential DGW player. I expect him to possibly play both games in 37 and then get rested in 38.
Having said that if he gets rested against Swansea, which I also do expect, my defence looks pretty poor.

I'm not totally convinced at the moment although for team structure it would make a lot of sense. You think Saints attack is worth it for HUL liv ARS mid MUN?

If I did that who would you bench? I do have AOA still too

Immediate thought would be to bench JWP.

You could play AOA and bench Yoshida; this would also give you better cover should Valencia be rested (good chance he is imo)

If you think 15 DGW'ers in GW37 will yield more points than a more balanced team with in form players like Coutinho and King in it, and Haz/Sanhez//Kun or Kane as your TC then BB37 option, other WC35, BB36, TC37.

If you had to drop one of Alli or Eriksen on WC to make way for Hazard, which one would it be?

Leading my ML by 15 points, and most if not all of them only own Alli.

Your question just made me realise I learnt nothing from selling Alli for Sterling in Citeh's DGW (kept Eriksen) the hit in and out plus Alli points was like 20+.

And then for this recent DGW benched Eriksen, I know, gambled on Zaha and Townsend. Eriksen was my only mid with any returns.

So erm yeah either one can cause heartache.

I suspect Alli might end up outscoring Eriksen soon once he gets his mojo back, although he looks out of sorts yesterday.

    Cech - Pickford

    Hazard - Eriksen - King - * - *
    Costa - Kane - Gabbiadini

    Either. A) Sanchez + Son

I think Clichy's worth a go; Pep's seemingly random rotation just worries me but with so few games left hopefully he goes all out at least until top 4 is settled.

Clichy has started all recent games. Doubt he'll get rested

Do we think Gabriel is now nailed and Arsenal will stick to this formation?

Wenger generally likes to stick to a winning formula - so probably yes and yes (as long as they keep on getting results).

No WC, thanks 🙂 would you rather do Baines -> Monreal (-4)?

Valencia's 'supposed' DGWs are turning into SGWs.

I would prefer Valencia to Baines if he was playing every game, as Baines is producing very few FF points with Everton's weakened defence.

I have both Valencia and Baines - shipping both with wildcard.....

How's this team with AOA for -4?

Alonso and Daives good back up if Valencia or Firmino are out.

    Jakupovic
    Valencia / Stephens
    Firmino / Alli / Coutinho / Sigurdsson / Zaha
    Kane / Lukaku / Gabbiadini

    Heaton / Alonso / Davies / Maguire

    Potential punt before 36 wildcard...

    A) Benteke or Gabbiadini - 4
    B) Persist with Zaha in a 352

10 points on the bench. Kind of got away with it this week. Ant Valencia to go, 1 pointer no doubt.

    Blaaah, stuck with one decision:

    Heaton,
    Bavies, Daniels, Bertrand,
    Alli, Hazard, Firmino, Zaha, King,
    Lukaku, Aguero.

    Bench: Jakup, Origi, Holgate, Olsson.

    1FT, 1M in bank.

Origi to Gabbi obviously but WHO to BENCH???
    Kaku?

Team not looking strong enough ..

    Pickford
    Valencia Robertson Mawson
    Alli Eriksen Zaha King (c)
    Kane Lukaku Negredo
    Grant Siggy Gibson Amat

Siggy to Sane and Gibson to Daniels for -4 or any other moves.. 1 FT & 5.2 ITB

Another one week punt question -

    De Gea / Pickford
    Blind / Yoshida / PVA / Pieters / BDavies
    Sanchez / Alli / Eriksen / Coutinho / Carroll*
    Lukaku* / Tekkers / Negrado*

    1FT, 5.5 ITB

    A) Negrado > Gabbi
    B) Negrado > Jesus
    C) Carroll > Sane
    D) Sanchez > Hazard (will get back on WC)
    E) Lukaku > Aguero (play 442)
    F) Negrado > Costa
    G) Carroll > King
