Dugout Discussion – West Ham vs Liverpool

Liverpool’s top four ambitions come under scrutiny in Sunday’s next encounter, as Jurgen Klopp’s charges make their way to the London Stadium to face a buoyant West Ham United.

Boosted by last Friday’s 1-0 victory over London rivals Spurs, Slaven Bilic’s side will provide a stern test of Liverpool’s credentials; the Hammers have kept three successive clean sheets heading into this match.

The Reds will surely look to Philippe Coutinho for inspiration.

The Brazilian is comfortably the top owned asset on show in this afternoon kick-off, with the midfielder still part of 18.8% of squads.

He has suffered from significant recent sales, however: more than 221,000 managers have moved Coutinho out of their squads over the previous two Gameweeks. A modest 14-point return over his last four Gameweeks, featuring just a single goal, proved damaging.

Coutinho’s profit from this match is likely to have the main impact on our Gameweeks, then, with only minor interest elsewhere.

Roberto Firmino – part of 10.5% of squads – misses out, while Daniel Sturridge earns a rare start, his first since Gameweek 20.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Chelsea are currently on 28 Premier League wins for the season, a further two would see Chelsea become the first team in Premier League history to reach 30 wins.
Tottenham Hotspur claimed 31 victories in their title success in 1960/61, while Liverpool won 30 games in 1978/79 under Bob Paisley, though Chelsea would be the first team to do it in the 38-game format if they win their remaining two games against Watford and Sunderland.
Incidentally, it's Chelsea who hold the current Premier League record for most wins. Under Jose Mourinho, the Blues won 29 games in both campaigns when they won the title two years on the trot in 2004/05 and 2005/06 respectively.
