Introducing – Yahoo Daily Fantasy Football

Fantasy Football Scout are delighted to announce Yahoo Daily Fantasy Football as our brand new partner game for the 2017/18 season.

While this may be a new game to many of you, Yahoo is, of course, a hugely well-known and trusted name. They were also one of the first to pioneer an online Fantasy Football game, with their season-long game one of the most engaging around.

Now Yahoo have returned with a daily Fantasy sports offering that we will be covering throughout the season.

That also means we will be able to present you with some fantastic offers, including a huge free-to-play half-season tournament with over £40,000 in prizes and perhaps even the chance to win £1 million. No, really. More on that later this week.

Yahoo are also providing a superb introductory offer for our visitors whereby, if you deposit £5, you’ll get a free £50 credited to your account. See the foot of this article for details on how to sign up and get started.

What is Yahoo Daily Fantasy Football?

If you’ve played any daily Fantasy Football or “DFS” games before, you will be instantly familiar with the concept of the Yahoo game.

You have £200 million to build a team of 11 players that you can enter in a variety of contests that are either free to play or have an entry fee with cash prizes on offer.

Each player has a value assigned which changes week-to-week based on their performance and popularity in the previous Gameweek.

The scoring system is more detailed than both Fantasy Premier League and Sky Sports – but that’s a good thing. Based on Opta data, the scoring brings a wider range of players into the mix, including those often-neglected defensive midfielders.

We will have an in-depth article, examining the nuances of the scoring system, very soon.

Yahoo’s contests allow you to tinker with your line-ups right up until kick-off, so you can monitor teamsheets and use the “late swap” feature to swoop for bargains and remove absent players.

Week to week, we will be bringing you our Yahoo Focus articles to help steer the nucleus of your XI for the weekend contests.

Why Should I play?

While so much of the Yahoo game is familiar and easy to grasp, it’s very different in a number of key ways – not least because it is very friendly for new players.

The game operates a “Fair Play” policy, with many of their contests allowing just a single-team entry, while others allow only up to ten teams per user. This levels the playing field and increases the chances that new players can compete for prizes.

There are also “no veterans” or “rookie only” contests which allow you to play and learn the game before taking on experienced managers in bigger contests. However, if you become a seasoned player, you can, of course, take part in contests that allow 50+ teams.

As mentioned, the scoring system is also finely balanced and perfectly suited to our visitors.

We are all familiar with Opta data and, if you’ve got yourself a Fantasy Football scout membership, you already have access to statistics and tools to help you select teams in the Yahoo game. We’re even building custom tables and will be implementing player prices into those tables in the coming weeks.

The Yahoo game is also fully localised for a UK audience. That may sound like a small thing but, with other daily games talking in dollars and asking you to build “rosters”, it’s nonetheless a welcome touch.

The other main reason to play is that the game has a huge range of contests for all players. There are free-to-play games, contests with entry fees as small as 25p right up to £1,000 for the high rollers.

You can register now and compete in the Gameweek 1 £10k contest that offers a £2k top prize for a £5 entry fee.

How Do I Start?

Yahoo’s Gameweek 1 contests are up and running so you can register an account and get started immediately.

As mentioned, if you register and deposit £5 or more, Yahoo will also give you a £50 bonus to be used in-game.

  • Register here
  • Deposit £5 or more and use the code FANTASY50 to claim your £50 credit
  • Choose a contest and start selecting your first Yahoo squad.

Later this week we will bring you news of the huge Fantasy Football Scout Yahoo Cup contest, which is free to play and with £50k in prizes.

Look out for details of that and further articles on the Yahoo Daily Fantasy Football game to come before August 11.

You must be over 18 years of age, resident in the UK, and of legal capacity to register with Yahoo Daily Sports and open an Account. If you sign up, please always play responsibly.

I do not get the fascination with BOU ds given their price and fixtures.
Not so keen on Mili van willi either.

Good front 3 although I am very tempted to go without Kane to begin until he hits his straps.

    Pascal Gross at 5.5

I'm quite sure he is nailed on and on set pieces.

Does anyone know if he has a chance at penalties. Think he could be a intriguing differential.

Honestly the whole Liverpool coverage is making me go nuts.

Salah or Mane seem ATM the best options but honestly Firmino makes my squad way more balanced.

May go the Firmino route as I think he gets points off the start and then reevaluate at the international break where there is always a chance of WC like always

Yup I'm doing this. Firm is going to be heavily involved in every attack (obviously), but he's gonna be the one playing the balls in behind to salah and mane more than the 3 deeper CM's I think.

Predicting a heap of assists for him.

Currently my team looks like this:

    Foster - Fabianski
Opted for two medium priced goalies who rotates well.

    Trippier - Cedric - Daniels - Rangel - Hunemeier.
Going for a 3-4-3 and the backline is a bit weak.

    KDB - Pogba - Willian - JWP - Carroll
Will monitor if JWP can nail down a role as an AMF, if so I believe it's great value for 5.5. Carroll as a 5th MF is a no-brain er IMO.

    Kane - Lukaku - Firminho

Quite like it apart from defence as you will struggle to have even three playing in GW1. Maybe Tekkers for Firmino which frees up 0.5m to get a fourth playing defender.

This is a good way of presenting your RMT and you are to be congratulated.

Gks: check. I like Fosski too. Great rot with amazing fixtures.

The D: I like the price bracket but I would have at least one elite defender in there i.e. Alonso or possibly ARS/CTY.

Minefield: yes good choices although Pogba has never been heavy enough for ff till now.

Forwards: no CTY worries me as they look abundant with goals and I prefer to see Jesus there. Perhaps at the expense of Kane till we know what shape TOT are in.

      Rating: 5/10.

        Thanks for your inputs gentlemen.

I do agree that defense might be a bit too weak, and risky going with two 4.0 defenders who are not nailed. Also the lack of premium defenders is a worry, though I think Trippier is in the premium defender category.

Ideally I would go for Rooney/chicarito as a third striker, but difficult fixtures in the start for them.
Regarding Jesus, I'm not convinced he is nailed. If he is, he's a nobrainer. But how will Pep fit both him and Aguero? Until I see a few games, I'm staying away from both.

I've gone without Alonso all this time but an opening home game against Burnley with him pressing high up really looks good. Clean sheet and assist/goal good chances IMO.

Yes and then CHS fixtures get harder. I'm really concerned by the lack of cs towards the end of last season because this is the primary criteria for selecting any defender.

For me he is too expensive with the opening fixtures.

He's cheaper then the likes of Pogba and co yet will score more points than them based on last season's evidence.

Not bad but bit of a lack of flexibility in midfield. What will you do if two pricey mids become must-haves, say Alli and Mane? Your price structure in midfield makes it a bit difficult without multiple transfers.

Anyone else think Mikhi is nice value at 8.0 and nice low ownership. He's been solid all preseason.

Real potential there. Have him currently in my team. Think the focus on Kaku there lessened ownership nicely.

Start of last season he was in most RMT's feel he will fair far better his 2nd go around. And early imo.

He's having a really strong pre-season. Definitely worth the gamble if you don't have any other risks in your attack.

    How's this looking?

    Foster (Elliot)
    Trippier Pied Mee (Francis Hunemeier)
    KDB Alli Willian Zaha (T.Carroll)
    Kane Lukaku Austin

Decent. Might have an issue in defence though as not all are nailed. Pied might only play one game. Like the mids and strikers.

    Foster
    Cedric, Alonso, Trippier,
    Zaha, Coutinho, De Bruyne, Eriksen
    Austin, Lukaku, Chicarito

    Elliott, Fonte, Carroll, Hünemeier

Decent but not keen on lack of Spurs attack. Granted though they might start slow, in which case you'll probably do well.

Chadli actually a decent pick early on. Would help if he was though.

    Morning all

A nice easy one to start with

    A) Kane + Pogba or Mhiki
    B) Aguero + Salah

    Have KDB but no Alli/Eriksen

Kane and Poggers for me, just. Mainly due to security of starts.
