The final countdown has begun with the new season kick-off now less than 24-hours away.

Earlier the week the ScoutCast grew gathered as the clock ticked down, with Jonty, Andy and Luke joining myself to tackle a raft of perfectly targeted questions from you – the community.

Each of us take turns to reveal our current line-ups, while the collection of queries allowed us to put each of the four positions under the microscope. On occasions, we even broke from the ScoutCast tradition to provide some definitive answers.

Pre-season gremlins struck as I dropped out in full flow on Paul Pogba, but I managed to return to steer the ship towards its final destination – the first weekend preview of the new campaign.

It’s good to be back.

          You have way too much invested in def if playing 3-4-3. Changes I would consider:

          Simpson > 4.0 filler
          Dawson > 4.5 def (Hegazi would cover brom)
          Ritchie > JWP
          Iheanacho > Firmino

    KDB - Mkhi - Zaha - Richie
    Kane - Lukaku - Firmino

    (Elliot - Carroll - Suttner - 4.0)

    I think this formation is pretty flexible.
    If a 10.5m striker explodes I can do Mkhi to 6m and Firmino to 10.5 and vice versa if a premium midfielder explodes.

        All 3 defenders have decent attacking threat.
        Ake rotates pretty well with Suttner.
        Soton fixtures are too good to be ignored.

        I think there's some value to be found in this defence till I earn some money and I can have a more expensive defence on wildcard.

    Was planning on Aguero and Lukaku with 1.0ITB to bring in Kane for one of them for GW3, but now getting cold feet about being Kaneless.

          having him would probably mean no liverpool (Salah+Firmino-> 7 + jesus) and I think it's worse.
          Firmino on pens could easily outscore him.

      I was settled on having Mounie as my third striker but now I've grown so skeptical of getting any points from him that I thought I might as well downgrade to a 4.5 and use the funds to do Zaha > Mkihtaryan and spend more in defence. Thoughts?

      Am I mad in wanting to move from Kane to Aguero or Jesus? City are probably going to smash Brighton and score loads of goals all season. Spurs have the Wembley curse, Kane never scored in August and Chelsea up second...

      Is it just the uncertainty around who will play for City that are putting people off?

        Its the fear factor of Kane that makes people keeping him. From GW5 I think Spurs will get great fixtures so you will want to bring him in anyway at that time.

        On the other hand you can get better value by bringing in a cheaper premium striker and upgrading the mid. In stead of thinking Kane or not Kane think about how you want to invest 20mil on a striker and midfielder.

        For 20mil you can get:
        Kane + Willian/Zaha +0.5
        Jesus + Eriksen/Alli/Mane
