The ScoutCast – Episode 228 – Countdown

The final countdown has begun with the new season kick-off now less than 24-hours away.

Earlier the week the ScoutCast grew gathered as the clock ticked down, with Jonty, Andy and Luke joining myself to tackle a raft of perfectly targeted questions from you – the community.

Each of us take turns to reveal our current line-ups, while the collection of queries allowed us to put each of the four positions under the microscope. On occasions, we even broke from the ScoutCast tradition to provide some definitive answers.

Pre-season gremlins struck as I dropped out in full flow on Paul Pogba, but I managed to return to steer the ship towards its final destination – the first weekend preview of the new campaign.

It’s good to be back.

        I'm in Seattle, United States. Just wanted to confirm my selections before nodding off. Thanks for the review, will definitely take that into consideration. Would switching Bertie instead be a good option, or is Ake/Daniels at 5.0 and keeping Bertie a better value?

        Thanks much. There was another suggestion above for changing my defensive selections, so I'll definitely take a closer look at those players. I'm thinking I'll need ManUtd clean sheet cover, I even considered bringing in Matic. He had 1G 8A last season and already has an assist in the UEFA Super Cup. At 5.0 I think he could be a steal, but a bit too much of a risk for me to actually commit.

      Which £5.5m defender to go with (Foster, Elliott) Stephens, Mee, Dann & Suttner:

      A) Bertrand (doubling up on Saints)
      B) Danilo
      C) Dawson (freeing up £0.5m, but doubling up on WBA)
      D) ???

      Thinking it's only likely to be a short term fix until Trippier returns

      No City is a worry, but I feel KDB is a touch over-priced and until we know who is nailed on up front, I'm loathed to get Aguero or Jesus whilst there are rotation concerns.

      That being said, thoughts on this team? Will play 4-3-3 most weeks, and the 4 at the back offer a decent attacking threat.

          I tend to agree in general but I think 5 at the back is inefficient because of no defender rotation.

          So, a 4-3-3 for me. But I wanted to pick Batshuayi and the noises coming out of Cobham suggest that Morata will start tomorrow. Which kind of screws that plan. 😕

        I wouldn't get Chicarito in just yet. Poor fixtures, away, etc. Maybe start cheaper with Mounie then upgrade Cedric to Bertrand and Stones to Kompany. I'd do Pog to Mikhi as well
