Dugout Discussion – Man City vs Everton

Gameweek 2 concludes at the Etihad Stadium as title favourites Manchester City host Everton.

Fantasy managers will be fixated on the City attack, with Sergio Aguero backed by over 214,000 (4.9%) of Fantasy Premier League managers with the Gameweek captaincy. In total, 39% of Aguero’s 543,000+ owners have trusted him with the armband.

The Argentine is off the mark for the season thanks to his goal at Brighton on the opening weekend, but if you’re a believer in player records against specific clubs, this will be a testing night for Aguero.

Everton have proved his toughest Premier League opponent over the years. Aguero has scored just twice over 11 Premier League appearances and has failed to net in his last six appearances against the Merseysiders. He’s also missed two of two penalties against them.

Elsewhere, Aguero’s strike partner Gabriel Jesus is captained by more than 86,000 managers (2.1%). He goes into tonight’s encounter having scored seven goals and supplied four assists over his last eleven Premier League outings, despite blanking at the Amex Stadium last time out.

Meanwhile, Kevin De Bruyne is captained by 82,000 managers and backed by an FPL ownership of 27.1%. He also returned a blank on the south-coast and will doubtless require points here to stave off further sales. The Belgian boasts two goals and five assists in his last five league outings. Like Aguero, he missed a penalty in this fixture last season.

For Everton, Wayne Rooney heads into this match backed by 16.8% ownership although more than 92,000 have him on their bench. Over 51% of Jordan Pickford’s 485,000+ owners have also chosen to keep the keeper in reserve with City backed for goals.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

The post didn't go through somehow so repost.

Jesus simply has to go. Errisken is 1m cheaper and will outscore him. Also Firminho can possibly match him and zi don't feel confident in captaining him.

So downgrade is on the cards.

I missed last season and only heard talk here. People wanted to swap Kane for him even. Wow

    Thoughts?

Only hear about him be good only on this side. Also the argument I can't captain him with Kane and Lukaku there stands 100%

TM, is it too late to join LMS?

Also, Firmino to Chicarito more pressing than KDB to Eriksen?

      definitely not
i fancy firmino to score against arsenal

I'd definitely keep Firmino, so KDB to Eriksen, but I don't think it's particularly pressing. I prefer Eriksen (which is why I had him from the beginning), but if I had KDB I'd keep.

Does anyone have any advice for my team?
It has been pretty succesfull, but with two free transfers available and two offensive City players it might be time to do something. At least use one of my transfers.

    Foster (Elliot) = 8.5m.
    Danilo - Dawson - Bertrand (Dunk, Long) 24.5 m
    KDB - Pogba - William - Phillips (Carrol) 35.5m
    Firminio - Lukaku - Aguero 31.5m

The plan on thursday was Danilo to Trippier after this GW. Then it changed to Jones after Trippiers knock, but after RC Walker I think I will keep Danilo.

Capped Aguero both GWs so "only" 136 points with this team. Lost 8 points on trying to outsmart all the Lukaku cappers 😛

I dont think it is the time for panic and go Danilo, KDB and Aguero to Jones, Eriksen and Kane (Danilo -> Jone only to free the 0.5).
But maybe just KDB to Eriksen? It seems like KDB is playing to deep. And with Aguero as first striker it might be nice to keep him even though he was not very impressive in the box today.

    Any thoughts?

Didn't see it yet, but I knew a weird interview was coming after the way he behaved after the final whistle. He sprinted to Koeman, gave him a super weird handshake, slapping Sigurdsson on the back, hugging Rooney like his best friend and then giving handshakes to referees like a maniac. Must have taken something during half time.

12.5m Kane gets 2 points in 2 games - keep him, stats look good, goals will come, NASA approves it blah blah

He has Bournemouth next, don't think City will be 10 men down in every game unless the refs really hate them a lot. Btw didn't KDB get some 17 pointer against Bournemouth last season? Don't remember Kane doing much against Burnley last season.

Playing deeper? His heat maps are similar to last season. Could have had a couple of assists in the first half itself today but the clowns upfront couldn't finish off easy chances he set up for them.

Am resisting the temptation to WC. I don't think I know what a good squad looks like anyway at the moment, it's all a bit up in the air. Surely it's best to sit tight, ride out another week, swallow any rises/drops and hope that at least the damage isn't too great if your own players don't score well? I can see the case for taking a hit or two, but surely it's too soon for WCing?

There's no set time. I think it's about getting nailed, form (as best you can) players from form teams, riding the rises and then looking for changes. I'm a fan of an early WC personally.
