Dugout Discussion – Newcastle vs Liverpool

Next up, Newcastle United and Liverpool bring the curtain down on Gameweek 7 in the 4.30pm kick-off at St James’ Park.

The big news is that Roberto Firmino drops to the visitors’ bench for the first time this season.

With just one goal in his last five league outings, the Brazilian was second only to Sergio Aguero for transfers out last week, with over 266,000 parting company.

Today’s news looks likely to signal further sales, barring a virtuoso outing off the bench.

Firmino was the sixth top captain option for the Gameweek and the most popular from today’s late match. Over 128,000 backed him with the armband, with Mo Salah (115,000) next in line.

Interest in Philippe Coutinho is on the rise, though – he was subject to more than 186,000 transfers in after following up a 13-point haul at Leicester with a midweek Champions League strike at Spartak Moscow.

And lest we forget Sadio Mane – the only player to score in each of the first three matches prior to his early dismissal at Man City in Gameweek 4.

For Newcastle, Matt Ritchie’s creativity could profit against a defence that’s shipped 10 goals in their three away matches.

The Magpies’ midfielder has assisted three of Newcastle’s last four home goals, earning 17 points in the last two in front of his own supporters.

Up against the Reds’ prolific attack, there’s no surprise to see than Rob Elliot is the most benched player for the Gameweek, named as a sub by more than 1.1m owners.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

I would argue for a wildcard based on you having no City or Chelsea. Both have great runs, and I'd feel inclined to aggressively jump on their players, even if that includes the gamble of removing other decent options..

71 points on my wildcard, highest Gameweek rank of the season and up nearly 700k places to 750k.

Chicharito is such a funny one. Still owned by 19% of teams, despite people selling him in the thousands. He's still got 3 decent fixtures ahead of him.

Interested to hear who those of you with him are selling him for? Are you downgrading or upgrading too?

Absolutely central to West Ham's attack, so he's straight in the team when fit. Will be straight onto some corners and all close-range freekicks. Class player - mini-Coutinho so can turn it on very quickly.

Perfect fixtures to perform and 2 weeks now to get up to speed and help support a West Ham team who are badly underperforming IMO. Antonio has time to recuperate too. Think they are actually a force going forwards, and think Lanzini can help them re-find that.

      I would if you're playing a 6m or under mid/forward. Chances are 2 points or 9 points. He's a bap beast.

Probably playing him in a 4-3-3, rather than Carroll.

I know it's hardly brag worthy but after my worse start in years it's nice before the break

I had planned to wc this break with the turn in fixtures, but .....

A - not sure I can sell kane or kaku, and team just looks so unbalanced with another big hitter.

B - do I want to drop eriksen, salah or Silva?

C - Davies and jones just seem too good value to lose.

D - not sure who I want from Chelsea anyway.

The remaining cheap crap like foster, Abraham and gross aren't doing great, but limited options in price bracket.

Summary: confused into inaction. Doing nowt.
