Dugout Discussion – Leicester vs West Brom

Gameweek 8 concludes at the King Power Stadium with Leicester City hosting West Bromwich Albion.

The Fantasy Football community will be torn heading into this encounter, with allegiances split between the home attack and the Baggies backline.

Jamie Vardy is undoubtedly the star turn on show. Owned by 16.3% of managers, the five-goal striker was brought in by 294,000 ahead of Gameweek 8, the third most popular transfer target. He has goals in his last two in front of his own supporters, but is yet to score against West Brom at home in three attempts.

Elsewhere for the Foxes, Harry Maguire boasts an ownership of 7.4%, attracting just over 40,000 new managers prior to Saturday’s deadline. The centre-back has a goal and an assist from his three home appearances so far.

Ahmed Hegazi remains the most popular asset in the West Brom camp. Still part of 1.3 million squads, he’s been benched by 353,000 (26.9%) ahead of tonight’s clash.

Meanwhile, Ben Foster was due to be backed by an ownership of just over 800,000 but will play no part in tonight’s match having been ruled out with a knee problem. Over 347,000 of his managers named Foster in their starting XI and now turn to their reserve keeper.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Who should I sell first

Foster (2nd GK Elliott) or Chicarito

Both can stay for next GW. Chicarito might be good now when Carroll is suspended?

Im bored of Cedric so you must be super bored of double SOT defence. Still hard to advise to get off with fixtures.

Same with Alli to Erik, seems a good move but hate advsing it as who knows nest week!

Its those two issues to ponder for me

I would save wait a week check the situation with Kun and Morata. Replace either one or both of Kane and Lukaku. Then .1 for a defence upgrade won't be a problem 🙂

It really seems sensible to me to go Kane and Jesus to
Morata and Kun when back as my next moves. And importantly leaves me 1.4 IT. For keeper and bench upgrades any reason not to? Or other suggestions please.

    Elliot

    Alonso Davies Jones Cedric

    Eriksen Sane Sterling

    Kane Jesus Vardy

    Pereira Mbemba Tarrol A. King

Yeah I am fairly committed to the Kane To Morata move.
Yes Jesus > Kun may not be needed and requires monitoring starting with this weeks CL. All the better if not then I got 2.4 mil for upgrades.

Don't think it could ever be classed as sensible to take out such a free scoring explosive penalty taking striker from one of the top 3 teams in the league who like to attack.

Yeah fair enough. It is a bit knee jerk. He did give decent captain returns the two weeks before.
But a lot of cash to be spared for elsewhere.
And I would be happy to rotate Morata and Jesus / Kun for their decent medium term fixtures.

Wait for foster injury update. An inevitable transfer if bad so take your medicine if necessary. Same boat and I will have Elliot against Palace so I don't really want to make the move now. The risk is high owned Foster could drop.

    6 years, 6 months ago

With so many pressing transfers wanted, for those who have Foster and it turns out to be bad. Is it wise to take a hit before a possible price drop. It is an inevitable transfer, so one might as well take the poison?

    1. Holmes
      • 10 Years
      6 years, 6 months ago

    2. Lazaretti

I would not take hit as long as you have playing keeper (Elliot) to cover.

      1. Eze Really?
        • 9 Years
        6 years, 6 months ago

A hit and a free tfr are of same value. i am losing points on keepers and I won't want Elliot every week. My argument is it is a tfr waiting to happen. So waht is the difference between now and next week?

          • Fantasy Football Scout Member
          • 7 Years

How are hits and frees of the same value? A hit to replace Foster won't pay back. You might as well wait till next week. Elliot has a good fixture too.

          1. Eze Really?
            • 9 Years
            6 years, 6 months ago

Look at the bigger picture. I am not dumb enough not to see the arithmetic. Point I am making is that free is used to change your side and it therefore has value. Nobody wants to use their free on a keeper.

        2. Lazaretti
          • 6 Years
          6 years, 6 months ago

Well I might be missing the point but if you do it next week then you can do it for free. If you have some other issues and you want to make another transfer also for some other player then doesn't matter when you take that hit.

          1. Eze Really?
            • 9 Years
            6 years, 6 months ago

My fault I think not making myself clear. 4 pts to a free is 4 points but an FT has value. There is always a reason to use one. Not on low price players is how we all tend to think.

            1. Lazaretti
              • 6 Years
              6 years, 6 months ago

That's true. But if you do not have any pressing issues then you can just ship out Foster and wait til next week to do something else. There might be many players who want to get rid of Foster and takes a hit to do so. Then you have 4point edge over those players.

I have players which are not certain starters for long term Yoshida, Bavies, Delph, DCL and now Foster injured. I still don't want to take any hits to just to ship uncertain player out bcs they still might do well. Better to monitor the situation. Then there is also GW10 captain issue. I have Hazard but would like to get some Liverpool player also...

              1. Eze Really?
                • 9 Years
                6 years, 6 months ago

Well put. Someone understands me! My long term objective is De Gea and Jones as season keepers. I can afford it now but it seems heavy for 2 out of 3 poor GW's. That is why I am harping on about Foster. Cheers.

                  • 6 Years
                  6 years, 6 months ago

I am thinking the same I have Jones and tempted to get DDG. Just not sure about it. Past seasons I have gone with premium keeper and it hasn't really payed off, so not sure about it.

                  1. Eze Really?
                    • 9 Years
                    6 years, 6 months ago

If Foster not injured I would probably hang fire. The value per transfer has been discussed and that was the reason for my post. There is another argument the FT is the most valuable because it is the first and usually the most pressing one.

If you'll play the replacement this week, yes.

I remember reading a community article where a FT was found to be worth around 3 points, and 0.1M was around 0.25 points. Someone may have the link, which will probably then show that I remember it wrong.

    Good morning. 🙂

    Team for this gw -

    Elliot
    Alonso - Kolasinac - Davies - Jones
    Salah - Sterling - RLC
    Aguero - Kane - Vardy

    3.9 - Carroll - King - Hunemeier

Plan for next 2 gws Vardy + Bavies + Kolasinac ➡ Morata + Walker + Daniels for -4.

    Thoughts?

    Morning mates!

I see following options for my team:
    A) 4-3-3 with up to 6.0 def
    B) 3-4-3 with up to 6.0 mid

I could also downgrade Foster if his injury is bad and get additional 0.5 to spend.

Definitely A for me. The top teams look so much more solid this year, and the gap is widening.

Come end of the season, the teams with the most CS are likely to be Utd, City, Chelsea, Spurs and all of them have defensive options below 6M. There might be the occassional rotation, but should be well worth it.

In mid, you have atleast two 4.5M options playing attacking mid for their teams so they should be sufficient backup on the bench.

Just cant see the rationale for a 4-man midfield, unless 3 upfront ceases to be a good option. Dont see that happening

      Godin - Juanfran - Marquinhos - TAA - Zagadou
      Coutinho - Talisca - Promes - Marlos - Petretta

Decent. Id take Fabri for my 2nd goalie at 4.5 so you can play him first day.

Lacks a decent captain choice the first day (I've gone for Auba).

Also look at Correa from Sevilla, hot form, good fixtures, cheap.

        Obviously monitor Zagadou.

A looks weird as I have Sterling and Sane already and I only play 3 mids. So all playing mids would be City.

    A. Silva Kane
    B. Eriksen Kun

Even though it means no Jesus or Kun.
This is the only way I can currently fund Kane + triple City attack.

i own A. but got to admit B is slightly the better option considering Kane's wembley woes

For the next few weeks, probably A. It's a lot of eggs in one basket, but that's one mofuing hen. Depends on how you like playing the game.

Which of the pairs have higher goal involvement?
And will you be willing to captain Kun inspite of rotation risks every week?

You hit the nail on the head. For me the biggest conundrum in FPL right now is whether to have Kun or Jesus and even when that decision is made there is the fear of rotation if giving either the armband.

And the flip side going with Kane and that cash outlay and I just can't see me captaining him at home.

I doubt this question will go away unless there's a big injury. For me, stick with the one (Jesus/Kun) you have or avoid, and keep Kane for captaincy. His home stats are still strong.

Just tinkering around I tried 1. But going without Jesus or Kun annoys me.
Plus other teams can provide mids, there are not that many premium strikers so I would like to have the ones that are available namely -
Kane Morata and Kun / Jesus

yea but kane, lukaku and abraham can do the job up front 🙂

Of Kun and Jesus rotation becomes a reality then 1 looks great as all 3 have more chance of playing.
Then again I don't think we will get anything as consistent as that. Maybe Kun and Jesus playing together sometimes but not always.

I'm waiting to see him play 2-3 games without getting injured, and then straight in. He'll have the highest goal involvement in that side and is a bonus machine.

His link up with Chica showed flashes of something - definitely one to watch. Also on numerous set pieces - and with noble missing games - maybe pens.

Morning everyone, anybody watched yesterday's game? How did Chadli do apart from the goal? Have him in a draft league but will consider getting him in FPL his value could be incredible if he gets the minutes.

I have both Cedric and Mbemba who are going to drop before next GW. I also have 0.1ITB.
    Would you take a -4 and do Cedric+Mbemba >> Jones + 3.9 before I'm priced out and save 0.2?

    1. Eze Really?
      • 9 Years

I have Cedric Mbemba and Foster. All could drop. Jones will rise so it is my train of thought too. Cedric may have some points in him though so I am keeping him.

I think only Cedric might drop. Remember starts Friday so only 3 more night for possible drops.
      Jones probably will rise.
Good medium to long term move. Maybe short term too.

    Chopper-Mountain to Sterling.
    Kolasinac to Holgate(or cheaper).

For a hit? That'll left me with 0.0 itb.

Francis instead of Holgate and that's a good move

      Holgate a big rotation risk.

Have Holgate and cant wait to get rid. Wait for today's game, if Sterling starts tonight can see him getting benched vs Burnley. If not, find another way to get him if you want him. Choupo has nice fixtures and wouldnt drop him atm.

I think this is the season of the "essential" one minute it's Sterling the next it's Kane as a permacaptain then it's Aguero then Morata. Gonna be like this all season

    Morning lads!

Had Abraham on my WC last week, only to go Vardy instead... now considering making the switch + taking a hit so I can have both Silva, Sterling and Eriksen in midfield.

    Worth it?

How was Vardy's match? Stats doesn't suggest much
