A third of the season is almost done, and Burnley’s defence is riding high as a source of Fantasy returns.

After a surprising debut campaign in which a recurring series of defensive heroics – particularly at Turf Moor – saw the Clarets survive in 16th place, their sophomore season has been altogether more impressive.

Sean Dyche’s side sit in seventh place – tied on points with both Liverpool and Arsenal –a nd have conceded fewer goals than all but the top three of Manchester City, Manchester United and Spurs.

Can their defence continue to perform at such a high level throughout the campaign? And who among their array of options looks best placed to prosper from this upturn in solidity?

      It's going to be difficult to change the structure of your team much without downgrading one of your big five hitters. Cresswell + Joselu - Mee + Tammy looks ok.

    Klopp could unleash the attacking quartet of Mané, Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho from the start of a Premier League game for the first time on Saturday. (James Pearce)

    It's taken till mid November to get these 4 available at the same time, not bad to be just 4 points off 2nd.

        Agree, I’m a transferring jn Sterling rather than Sane so can have 5 playing defenders with potential attacking returns (Daniels, Dann etc.)

          Especially over christmas this will be key. Yes sane has more points but sterling better PPG and sane likely to be rested as much over christmas period. If sane wasn't to play and you have a non playing def its only going to hurt you. Sterling is better option + playing defender

        Aguero also started in the match at Brighton, where he got 9 points. He didn't start against Bournemouth, and he was injured before the Chelsea game. He didn't play at all in GW10 but they probably didn't want him breaking the ManC goalscoring record away at West Brom. Going forward I doubt the Kun/Jesus rotation will have anything to do with them being at home or away - Pep will probably just pick his best team on the day.

      I think G.Jesus has started every away game in the league so far? Plus his most recent game was in London, so no travelling there. If I had to guess which of Agüero or G.Jesus will start I’d say G.Jesus but who knows. And there’s always the possibility Pep starts both! Minefield 😆

      You don’t want a non-playing asset on a WC, particularly with the unprecedented fixture pile up approaching.
