Sky Sports Focus

Time for our weekly Sky Sports Focus article where we take a look back at the recent action before preparing you for the incoming Gameweek.

We’ll examine the recent run of Man of the Match (MoTM) awards, the bonus point beneficiaries, transfer trends and Watchlist, before moving on to the Scout team and our future plans.

Gameweek 16 Man of the Match Awards

These were the players who caught the eye of the Sky Sports reporters and earned an extra five points as a result.

Undoubtedly the star of the Double Gameweek was the Premier League’s top goal scorer, Mohammed Salah.

The Egyptian picked up the award in both of his fixtures, despite starting the second clash on the bench.

He’s now the games leading scorer by an impressive 24 points and also tops the MoTM table with six awards.

Interestingly, Salah is also now the game’s most popular player, with 47.1% ownership, having overtaken Romelu Lukaku in midweek.

Somewhat surprisingly, the next highest owned player to feature here is Wayne Rooney (7.4%) in what was a good week for differential picks.

And speaking of which, Raheem Sterling (6.9%) continues to go under the radar and is now the third highest scoring midfielder overall – at a cost of just 9.8.

Gameweek 16 Bonus Points

Let’s take a look at any player to earn 23 points or more in bonus for the season

Watchlist

Here I aim to highlight a few differential players with low ownership who I think could be good options for the coming six weeks.

Three specific price brackets will be used to cater for our available budgets.

The players will evolve with fixtures and form, and offer Fantasy managers a nudge in (hopefully) the right direction.

Notes

I used three transfers over the double, with Andreas Christensen, Davison Sanchez and Leroy Sane all coming in.

None of them set the world alight, unfortunately, but looking ahead I’m confident an upturn in points is just around the corner.

Like many, my midfield was hit by mass rotation during midweek but, luckily, captaining Harry Kane and then Kevin De Bruyne helped my team to tick along, maintaining my rank from last week.

I now only have one transfer “pencilled in” for the foreseeable future, which will be Kiko Femenia to Phil Jones upon his return from injury.

This will give me a back four made up of some the best teams’ defences in the league, but at a very kind price – a rare and strange experience for me having historically always gone for bargain options at the back.

Whether this experiment will bear fruit I’m not entirely sure, but each season is unique and we have to try and adapt, something I’m trying to correct in my play style after remaining too stubborn in recent times.

Wish me luck as I venture into the unknown.

Captain Plan

Sat 2nd – Hazard (vs NEW)
Sun 3rd – Sane (vs WHU)

Here's some interesting numbers for those considering Hazard/Morata over Kane this weekend.

    Chelsea at home: Scored 10
    Spurs away: Scored 13

    Watford at home: Conceded 15
    Newcastle away: Conceded 11

      Changes to Kane c.

Though I just don't see them as a good team atm. Any longer and Kane might even have to go.

Probably Niasse. Even if he doesnt play, hes that cheap for a striker that he's really bench fodder

    Gomez to Moreno too sideways?

    Feel Moreno is more nailed.

I have 2 FT and not sure what to do with this team.

    Pope
    Otamendi / Alonso / Daniels
    Sane / Salah / Richarlison / Pogba
    Kane / Morata / Niasse

    Elliot / RLC / Mee / Duffy 0.0 ITB

Anybody see anything so I don't waste a transfer?

i'd imagine it's been pointed out by others but mustafi has conceded just 1 goal all season, in 8 matches.

Only by a few, great point. Tightens that back three up considerably.

He's a great pick. Don't quite have space but might upgrade Ward to him soon if he keeps avoiding baps

    Pope
    Kola Daniels Duffy
Salah (v) Haz (c) Sterling Richarlison
    Kane Morata Niasse

    Elliott RLC Kiko Mbemba

Finding it difficult to resolve this defence. Not even having 2.0m itb helps.

I appreciate the need for Chelsea defence I suppose, but it comes at a cost. Currently considering...

    A. Mbemba to Christensen.
    B. Kola/Daniels to Azpi/Alonso
    C. Duffy to Moreno
    D. Play a weak defence and bank transfer

How am I looking for this gw?

    Lloris
    Walker - Daniels - Alonso - Bellerin - Maguire
    Sane - Hazard
    Kane(c) - Morata - Vardy

Bench: Elliot - Carroll - Surman - Carrick

Anything worth a minus 4 or gtg for this gw? Plan to strengthen midfield over next 2 gws.

    Courtois, Elliot
Oatamendi, Ward, Moreno, P Jones, Cedric
    Salah, Sane, Sterling, Richarlison, Carrol
    Kane, Morata, Niasse

I'd like to replace Cedric this week. Only have 1FT so can't replace Jones as well.
Once I take out Cedric I have 5.1 to spend, but would prefer to limit to 4.6. I have Tarkowski & Gomez in mind which would lead to doubling up on Burnley or Liverpool defense respectively. I'd really appreciate thoughts on this or other suggestions. Cheers 🙂

I'd like to have 5 playing defenders over next month due to rotation risks in rest of team

How do you interpret Pep’s comment about him being worried of suspension for Sané & Co? It’s a hint for rotation, but it’s Pep after all so normal logic thinking doesn’t apply

Him being 'worried' about it is normal and does not mean he's not gonna play them, Sane is one of the most rested players and pep will also want to rotate to avoid injuries and fatigue, cough cough sterling cough...

Guess it comes down to who he thinks is most essential vs Mun.
