Dugout Discussion – Everton vs Swansea City

The curtain falls on Gameweek 18 under the lights of Goodison Park, as a rejuvenated Everton take on an ailing Swansea City.

In Fantasy terms, the focus is quite definitely on the home side and, in particular, their two strikers.

Against the odds, Wayne Rooney is currently revived as a Fantasy option. Perhaps benefitting from the malaise suffered by the premium-priced forward options, Rooney’s 7.5 price tag has attracted over 271,000 new owners ahead of Saturday’s deadline.

Rooney goes into tonight’s contest on the back of five goals and an assist from his last four Gameweeks – all from a No 10 role behind lone striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

The 20-year-old is also a factor in tonight’s match. Backed by over 80,000 new owners and now in 560,000 squads, Calvert-Lewin will bid to further his CV as our third striker “enabler”. He boasts three assists and a goal from his last five Gameweek starts.

But with three clean sheets from their last four Gameweeks, the Toffees defence also demands attention.

In particular, both goalkeeper Jordan Pickford and right-back Jonjoe Kenny will be auditioning for further transfer attention tonight. They were signed by 21,000+ and 62000+ ahead of Swansea’s visit in anticipation of yet another shut-out.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Best move here? Tempted by B but could wait on Morata for another week and maybe get Rooney instead.

    A. Tarkowski + Niasse -> Mariappa + DCL (to have atleast a playing bench)

    B. Tarkowski + Niasse -> 4.3 Def + Depoitre (sane reasons as above)

    Great Scout Cast tonight with Jay challenging the scout team and leading the way with being aggressive! No wonder he is the best in the business. It has got me thinking..... Kane or no Kane.....?????

    - Kane and Spurs no form
    - Tough-ish fixtures followed by a blank
    - Not going to captain Kane
    - DeBruyne and City with the form
    - DeBruyne great captain shout
    - Bought Morata for 10.0 so still a bargain
    - Morata to Kane for DGW maybe

    Kane -> DCL
    RLC -> DeBruyne
    (-4)

    Gives this team.....

    Hennessey
    Christensen / Jones / Mee
    KDB (C) / Hazard (vc) / Salah / Sterling / Richalison
    Morata / Austin

    Speroni / DCL / Kiko / Kenny

      Certainly Jay has convinced you to think about dropping Kane finally.

      Your new team looks pretty good. And lets face it, 5th mid at 4.5 was originally meant for 1st sub. Kane's price forced us to use RLC in several games when a better option could have made the difference.

    West Ham will contest Manuel Lanzini FA charge for simulation

    West Ham had until 6pm on Tuesday to decide whether to accept a two-match ban but Sky sources understand that they will appeal the FA's decision.

    If contested, the matter will be resolved by the Independent Regulatory Commission.

    Sky Sports News understands the Independent Regulatory Commission would review and decide before West Ham's Carabao Cup quarter-final match against Arsenal at the Emirates on Tuesday.

    Ok this type of hit would normally seem stupid ... but

    Niasse is dead wood now and will price drop this week.
    Hud fixtures ok . I will take 2 points off the bench if needed
    Also every .1 right now is critical to future plans.

    So Niasse to Quaner for a hit ?

    Best option to ship out Vardy for?

    I'm thinking Vardy --> Rooney
    or
    Vardy --> DCL

    Thoughts appreciated!

      Depends upon the team structure.

      I'd say Rooney but DCL+Cash is also not bad considering what you do with those 2 millions

    I want to do Niasse to DCL but my 3 defenders have very tough fixtures: Mee(TOT), Kenny(CHE), Francis(mci) and have Duffy who is suspended. Unfortunately I have only one FT

    What should i do?
    A) Francis to Ogbonna
    B) Duffy to Ogbonna
    C) Niasse to DCL
    D) A/B + C for -4

    Plus point is I have 0.8m itb and can take a rise or two

      will be close I think, leaning towards A as KDB a much more nailed on option than Sane/silva imo

    Anyone have Gross and Richarlison? If you had to lose one this week to go to a Power 5, who would have to go? The other will probably go next week for Pogba.

    A) Gross (WAT)
    B) Richarlison (bri)

    Transfers can be funny sometimes. Tarkowski rises in prices when he is facing violent conduct charge by FA and potential 3 Match Ban..

    Morning all, is it really critical to have a differential to climb up the overall rankings at the top?

    I note that almost everyone has, say, 80% similarities in their teams and it's hard to climb without having a great differential (low ownership with high possibilities of returns).

    If not, the only probable way is to really nail your captain picks, week in and out.

    Thoughts?

      Always been about nailing captains. There's enough variance in that 20% that you can consistently climb the ranks with a 'template' team.

      Everyone except Salah is a differential to some extent, since there are more managers who don't own them than managers who do. Think of it as getting the best possible group of mini differentials, because it only takes a few players here and there, a captain choice, benching order, chip use, and luck, for two teams that look similar to get very different points.

      E.g. Hazard, easily labelled template because so many people around here have him, but still only 15% ownership. When he scores you're making ground on 85% of FPL. Sterling 21% etc.

      I think the best (only?) way is to pick the players you think will work. Simple as that. Don't put someone in because they're a differential. Likewise, don't just go with the crowd. Like at the start of the season everyone's team seemed to have Suttner in it. And then Tom Carroll, and then someone else. And 3 weeks ago everyone put Hazard in. Now everyone's dropping Kane and going for a 5 man midfield. Filter this stuff out maybe.
