Scout Notes

Scout Notes – Relentless Kane Rolls On

Harry Kane emphatically breaks more records and the hearts of those Fantasy managers who risked turning their back on his talents ahead of an impending blank.

The Spurs striker made it back-to-back hat-tricks from a blisteringly productive festive schedule so far. In doing so, he shattered Alan Shearer’s Premier League record for goals in a calendar year.

Those Fantasy managers who showed patience and held on to Kane will be overjoyed, but now have another difficult decision ahead of them.

They will face a dilemma with a second consecutive 17-point to sweeten the pill, but two hat-tricks in the space of three days cannot shift the fact that Kane now has a blank to come.

More than 131,000 managers had brought him in for the 5-2 win over Southampton regardless of that blank, with 1,161,712 making him the most-captained player of Gameweek 20.

They are now part of a 41.2% Fantasy Premier League (FPL) ownership that must decide whether to stick or twist on the forward.

Chelsea’s Alvaro Morata is an obvious replacement for Gameweek 21, and he made his case with a first goal since Gameweek 15. To add to the Spaniard’s appeal, the Blues entertain Stoke City next and the Potters, already without Kurt Zouma, saw their skipper Ryan Shawcross limp off today.

But the downside of selling Kane involves cost – in both price and transfers expended.

His value is on the move. It rose to 12.9 ahead of Boxing Day and could increase again before Gameweek 21 with a number of managers either oblivious to, or simply not caring about, his blank.

Some 33,000 have already transferred him in for his non-existent Gameweek 21, so should his price rise again, those selling him could lose profit as well as the two transfers the transaction will cost – assuming, that is, that they bring Kane back for fixtures with Swansea City and West Ham. That is surely a given.

Ignoring Kane for that upcoming pair of attractive fixtures seems untenable. He will be the most-captained for Gameweek 22 and, those with the Triple Captain chip in hand will surely consider putting it in play on the back of Kane’s confidence and devastating form.

Spurs Midfield stake their claim

Kane isn’t the only member of Mauricio Pochettino’s squad who warrants consideration ahead of the double-header.

Son Heung-min is building a convincing case.

The midfielder started his sixth straight match against Southampton and produced a goal, two assists and a bonus point for a second double-digit haul of that run.

In fact, Son has managed four goals and as many assists from those six matches and although he’s currently the fourth most bought player despite the blank Gameweek 21, he’s still only owned by 3.9%.

Previously far more popular, Dele Alli (11.5%) is also enjoying a min-revival.

He followed up his brace of assists at Burnley with two more, and a goal, against the Saints, with two bonus points pushing his Gameweek tally to a season’s best 15.

Son’s 8.0 price and his considerably more consistent recent form will ensure that the South Korean is favoured, with Alli reduced to an unlikely Gameweek 22 differential.

The same will probably apply to Christian Erisken. The Dane’s assist was dwarfed by other performances, but marked a fifth return in six Gameweeks.

Elsewhere, it remains difficult to justify investment in the Spurs defence.

Pochettino’s rotation policy concerning his wing-backs is now confusing everyone but him, with Serge Aurier (0.5%) handed a second straight start – and his third in four matches – as Kieran Trippier (5.8%) joined Ben Davies on the bench.

With the points potential of Spurs’ wing-backs now difficult to predict, the side’s lack of defensive stability – they’ve kept just two clean sheets since Gameweek 12 – further dampens the appeal of recruitment for the forthcoming double.

The above article incorrectly advises against a Spurs defender for the DGW.

West Ham will park the bus.

    Swansea don't do goals.

Bad advice from the author IMO, sorry. There's a very good chance of 2 clean sheets even without the influential Toby A.

Still scored against City and Chelsea.
Lloris has been off form and I wouldn't be surprised if West Ham manage a goal because of it.

Swansea on the other hand should be a straight-forward clean sheet

Swansea City is as good an opportunity for CS points that one can have.
Only problem is, only Vert and Sanchez are likely to play both games and they both have low BAPs potential (fullbacks tend to take all the BAPs for Spurs defenders) and low goal threat

His all-round game is incredible already, can score from anywhere or assist anyone with every touch he takes. Arguably could be as good a #10 as he is a #9.

All that and he's only 24. Shearer's 260 goal record is done for, unless Real Madrid come calling.

Totally agree. And if Spurs had a Morata-like player, Kane could drop behind. His passing is so good (pass to Son for what should've been a penalty today) and his outside shots are as well. He could legitimately be as good off-striker as as striker.

Nope. This is a scenario where making a transfer based on tv can go very badly.

Rooney and KDB > Firmino and Lingard?

I know KDB hasn't played but want to avoid price rises

    Klavan nailed on at 4.3m?

Matip returned but he kept his spot. Started last 5 matches.

I have not used my WC yet. Can I double check...

I plan to trigger my first WC during GW 21.

Does that mean I have until GW 22 to use or do I need to use by 1st Jan?

It's date of trigger rather than date of GW?

You have to use it for the next gw or its gone. Activate it now

If my only alternative to Kane is Crouch (Chelsea away) for next week... Should I

    A) Get Morata for a week points over pounds (got Kane for 12.4)
    B) Lukaku
    C) Aguero
    D) Save and play Crouch

    Who's everyone captaining this week?

    Salah the standout I assume.

    Maybe Sterling.

I'm considering Hazard as a bit of a differential.

Was on Hazard (c) until I saw Salah get taken off after 65. Now going with Salah (c) and Hazard (vc).

Hazard for me. Stoke will be without Zouma and might be without ShawX also.

Tempted by Morata but probably Salah.

I'm liking Stoke's injury ravaged defence for Morata (who has already scored a hatrick against them this season)

Salah. Every game he gets at least 2-3 clear chances plus he creates his own chances out of thin air.

Aye you're right, probably trying to be too clever with Hazard. He's a differential in itself (and a bad one right now 😉 )

Hazard is playing well and will score well over the next few games but you just can't stop Salah right now l. Absolutely relentless.

Hazard or Salah unless I start drinking - then I will go Ri(C)harlison

100% not Haz, he's been too frustrating, another blank and this time as captain is too much, would probably lead to -4 transfer out also 🙂

Hazard moving closer to his role as differential every minute 😉 I love it - that is when he delivers 😉

Just need Hazard, Atsu and Richarlison to deliver next GW

He might not be worth his price tag atm, but that was said about Kane mere two weeks ago on Scoutcast which resulted in -16 hits all over the place to get rid of Kane and buying that defensive mid from Man U. The guy who delivered some points earlier this season before his injury.

I am in no rush selling Hazard, And if he goes back to 5% ownership so be it. If my chances of cracking top10K open comes down to Hazard I'll take it smilling 😉

    Pope (Speroni)
    Alonso Otamendi Kenny (Ogbonna Daniels)
    Hazard Sterling Salah Richarlison RLC
    Morata DLC (Kane)

    2FT. Which move?
    (A) Hazard and Morata to Coutinho and Firmino
    (B) Daniels to Schindler/Long and then next week do Hazard and RIcharlison to Alli and Son (then I miss out on Coutinho and Firmino and let them continue to burn me).

Not at all. It's just another important tool to get ahead of the curve. All the serious players do it.it saves you money and helps build a better team in the long run.

Evening all. WC draft take #4. Thoughts? Could do Alli instead of Cout ready for DGW

    Adrian - Pickford
    Alonso - Ota - Jones - Christensen - Kenny
    Salah - Lingard - Cout - Sterling - RLC
    Quaner - Kane - Firmino

Abit too much in defence there structurally IMO. I would keep Cout but have a plan to get more DGW players for next week.
