The Big Numbers – Gameweek 27

We turn to the Opta numbers next and roll out our usual post-Gameweek members’ article looking at some of the standout players across the previous round of fixtures.

Sergio Aguero, Jamie Vardy and Eden Hazard’s run of goals arrive under analysis, while we also cast an eye over Spurs and Everton’s recent displays in attack.

Meanwhile, cut-price midfielders from Brighton and Watford are finding form as both sides prepare for a run of four home matches in the next six Gameweeks.

    Adrian
    Alonso, Jones,Fernandez

3 sounds good but not for -8
Can u do just 2 transfers and the other one later?

I can’t Alonso and Hazard are both funding Wilson > Kane.

I was all set on ditching Aguero for Kane but don’t know now.

Maybe just keep the free transfer and do it then for a -4. So u can watch the players in the fa cup, cl and for another gw and then decide

As of last night, I think I've "achieved" the most as a casual than any other casual on this site:

    Hot topic
Scoutcast mention (rough of course 😛 )
    First comment on an article

All that's left is a community article about how little I know. Probably during the off-season where people are more inclined to believe me 😆

Despite all the advice on here, I still make stupid decisions and take hits and don't particularly care about rank, just want to win my ML filled with even more casuals. Also I'm gravless and haven't got a membership despite looking into the possibility of it.

As regards to the hot topic, any long post with stats or a decent summary after the PL has finished will go green mate 😉

To be honest you may not be taking advice off here but making your own decisions..that isn't casual.

I don't give a toss about rank and I've been playing 11 years as a pretty successful mini league focused player.

I'd say a casual was someone who follows the herd and has no thought process or planning themselves.

This game doesn't work on certainty, it has luck in it and at times instincts play a role. If you watch most PL games then you wouldn't take every opinion/advice you get in here, and can make your own decisions. If you know football, maybe also played it well (whatever level), then probably you are going to do well. Of course you also need patience and proper planning.

I am struggling with the ‘get x y z player because he has a game in 31’ when you can get more points by just sticking with better players and ignoring 31

Since I bought Wlacott I have had 3 points in 2 games off him ... grr ...

I got Walcott a while back as well not because of gw31. I think he'll come good, did 6 crosses and 2 key passes last week, another week that would give a couple of assists. Lots of silliness going on re. gw 31, most players brought in will score 2 or 3 points, definitely don't let it affect transfer thinking.

early transfers when there are no games before the next PL game is a good risk to take, but not when most teams have 2 games in the mean time ?

Maybe. I just think it's over-amplified. Sure there are risks, maybe some people are more unlucky than me then. The only one that burned me this season was getting Willian in before he pulled his hamstring which was a stupid transfer anyway. I just used my sub and got him out the next week so wasn't even that bad.

didn’t you bring in Walcott for Lingard early in GW26 and then ended up with injuries/illness to Jones, Christensen & Alonso and with T Carroll not even starting off your bench ?

Maybe it woukd have been worth waiting until Saturday ? Just saying ... 🙂

Yeah that was a particularly bad week of injuries/illness, however the only one I knew about ahead of time was Christensen so I wouldn't of taken Alonso or Jones out anyway. I also didn't wanna take out Christensen because I thought at the time it was a short term injury, which it was because he's now back, after I took him out (doh!)

It's not just the chances of your players getting injured though - it's all the other extra information you get in terms of other teams playing cup games, knowing teams coming up against defences which have injuries, early team news etc. Plus, more time to think about your decisions.

Whats the deal with Mane this season? With Jesus possibly back i was thinking of downgrading Aguero and boosting the mid. Quite fancy a triple up on Liv (have Salah and Firm) but he's way down on points per game and just doesn't seem to be firing on all cylinders - plus he's getting hooked early and never does 90 mins.

Probably just talked myself out of it, but the fixtures and GW31 are very tempting.

Very surprised to see all the non-blankers at top of the watch list. Come on scouts, if they didn’t have the extra game they shouldn’t even be in contention to make the list!! Arsenal and Spurs look extra tasty in the lead up and I think people will miss a few hauls by early planning for 31. I would rather carry a stronger X1 through to the blank and then take a few extra hits to get a reasonable number out that week before wildcarding

It's not like I shouldn't Ramsey or monreal now because they have a blank in 31. And bring in players who play in 31 .

Any suggestion on what to do with this team?

    De Gea (Begovic)
    Maguire VVD Mee (Mawson Dowson)
    Sterling Salah DeBruyne Walcott (Milivojevic)
    Willson Firmino Vardy

    1FT 3.3ITB

Unfortunately I don't own Kane and its the player Im looking to bring in. I need to downgrade someone to upgrade Firmino and Vardy to Kane, but both players are inform with good fixtures so its not a must transfer. I don't have any of the big front hitters, but my team is not bad. Difficult to decide....

The leader in my league leads me with 100 pts but is without the FH chip. Therefore I need to maximize this chip as much as I can...

So far my plan is to have 8 players for GW31
WC in GW32 (having in mind 34 and 37)
    Bench boost in GW34
    FH in GW35
    TC in 37

Do you think this is a good plan? Generally is 35 giving us better chances of points with the Free hit Chip?
    Thanks.

Does it look like they are aware of GW31 in terms of the blanks? If not and it looks likely they will only have 3 or 4 players, I'd probably be tempted to FH in GW31 in your situation.

Stick with your plan. He has no FH chip so will find it hard to navigate through 31 and 35 if trying the BB & TC in 34 and 37

The free hit should be used to avoid as many transfers required in one week. Fewer games will be played in GW31 than GW37.

Not sure of the money involved there and whether that gives you more money to upgrade lingaard?

Do you think Aubameyang will do well? Arsenal have a run of good fixtures coming up.

Depends what do you mean by well. I think Kane and Firmino will do better and i wouldn't drop Vardy(if i had him) for him.

Get Milly for Lingard and play 3-4-3 with Milly A’s bench cover. He is likely not to blank GW31 as is Wilson so i would keep him too. But wait until after FA cup games as the blanks “should” be confirmed by then

    2ft 2m it

    Ddg, 3.9
    Alonso, Otamendi, Daniels, Mee, Masuaku
    Salah, Sterling, Walcott, Shakiri, Lingard
    Kane, Firmino, 4.5

Probably Otamendi to Vvd and Lingard to 8.7 (nothing I like I that price range)
    Any better ideas?

    A) Alonso & Dunk > Van Dijk & BDavies
    B) Alonso, Son & Quaner > Robertson, Carroll & Firmino (-4)

B would mean a switch from 3-5-2 to 3-4-3, I'd then have enough funds to do Dunk > BDavies the week after

Alternative chip strategy for those who have already used TC on the kane fai

-Start loading up on teams with a game in week 31

-build a team for week 35 after week 31, ignoring the dgwers of 34

    - use FH in week 34

    - have a set team for week 35

WIildcard in 36 and use BB in week 37
