Team Analysis – Assessing Ramsey’s QPR

After taking time out to assess Tim Sherwood’s impact at Villa Park, we analyse the performances of QPR under Chris Ramsey as both clubs prepare for a double Gameweek 31. In terms of results, the new man in charge has been unable to arrest his side’s decline – aside from a win at fellow strugglers Sunderland, the R’s have lost six of seven fixtures since the departure of Harry Redknapp.

Although they’ve failed to score in just one of those encounters, the Loftus Road outfit have notched more than a single goal in only one match since Ramsey was installed – that victory over the Black Cats. In terms of defensive prospects, QPR have one clean sheet (yet again courtesy of the Sunderland match) and have conceded at least twice in each of the last five matches of Ramsey’s tenure.

With trips to West Brom and Villa on the horizon, then, we delve into the data to see whether the underlying numbers can afford a little more optimism.

    What's a better move?

    A) Sanchez > silva
    B) caz > mata
    C) Sanchez > mata
    D) none of the above

Have 2FT. Have to use at least 1. Also still have my WC

    Fabianski. Hamer
    Terry. Clyne. Bertrand. PvA. Hutton
    Sanchez. Haz. Cazorla. Eriksen. Boyd
    Aguero Kane. Austin.

Next week am planning to do
Sanchez > Siggy & Austin > Costa (if fit)
Is it worth doing Sanchez> Siggy THIS GW ?

I agree with getting rid of Sanchez but why Siggy? You can have Silva, Haz, Caz, Mame et al long before Sig.

I have Silva and Hazard, Can't afford Cazorla if am willing to do Austin> Costa next week
Mane is a good shout also, but am leaning towards Sig because of the easy fixtures ahead

    Ospina - Panti
    PVA - Terry - Clyne - Dawson - Vertonghen
Hazard - Silva- Sanchez- Moses- Boyd
    Aguero - Giroud - Kane

    Got 2 FT.

I want Austin/Benteke in for this week swapping back out for Costa after. But Giroud/Kane are undroppable at the moment, so Aguero to Austin or Benteke?

Or is there another transfer that is better (carrying some dead wood.. Moses, PVA, Vertonghen.. need a keeper for the blank..) onky 0.3 ITB

Yes imo. I've not been alive long enough to give a definitive answer but the fact that they're scoring 60 goals per season in a much more competitive/difficult era should be enough imo.

Difficult to say whether it's more difficult; Maradona was kicked from pillar to post, and Pele was playing with rougher defenders as well (and without the technology and advancement in equipment).

On pure goalscoring, you'd probably put Gerd Muller in (or, as an Evertonian, Dixie Dean!)

I think the understanding of football especially on a tactics level as well as sports as a science means it has become much more difficult. I could be wrong of course and it's not something we will ever truly know but that's just my interpretation of it.

I'd tend to agree, hard to say when you aren't 100 years old! What I do know is that I feel privileged to be alive with Messi at his peak, and I'm not sure I'll ever see a player that good again.

It's hard to say, as I've only been alive since 1991, so while I can presume Maradona and Pele would be in there, I don't have the first hand evidence for it. Messi would surely be in there, best player in my life by a huge distance, but from what I know surely Pele, Maradona and Messi would be front 3.

Also know that Garrincha, Cruyff, Jairzinho, Zico, Platini, Best et al would be up there. And personally, while Ronaldo has done it more consistently and probably more effectively, I have always much much preferred Ronaldinho.

Yes to A, No to B

Pele Messi Maradona for me, all three brilliant individual players, all very much team players.
Ronaldo plays for himself making it very difficult to call him great!

      I would've though so.

I don't see BR risking with mental Balo. Maybe Borini, but I expect Sterling up top since he is not happy to play wing back which could impact his contract with Liverpool.

    Clyne / Ivan / Pva
    Haz / Sanchez / Eriksen / Silva
    Kane / Kun / Austin
    (Krul / Walters / Bruce / Wasi)

2 FT & 0.2m itb...what do you think of the following moves?
    This week (gw 31): Wasi/Pva & Walters -> Naughton & Cork
    Next week (gw 32): Sanchez & Austin -> Mane & Costa (-4)

I'm planning kind of similar moves but thinking of bringing in west brom defender (3 great fixtures) and Philips (DGW) and then leave him rot on bench till end!

Then doing the Sanchez/Austin moves to Mane/Siggy and Costa

Guys would you use a transfer for Eriksen>Fellaini this week, given their fixtures, or save for 2 FT's next week? I don't think double Spurs is needed with Kane in the team, but would like some Utd cover going forward...

Trouble is the GW33 blank when Sterling may or may not be playing, of which we find out the solution next week which kind of makes me think I should hold, but fancy Fellaini to do damage against Villa and it frees up £2.3m for the bank!

    DDG
    Bertrand Kos Naughton (PvA Was)
    Sanchez Sterling Eriksen Mane (Boyd)
    Aguero Costa Kane

    GW31 Erik>Afro??
    GW32 Was>Schlupp (gains a GW33 starter and a DGW player)
GW33 Sanchez>Haz (gets 11 out plus double Chelsea ready for DGW34 - bench Sterling Kos PvA)

    Plan?!

    Bertrand Terry Koscielny
    Cazorla Eriksen Hazard Silva
    Aguero Giroud Kane
