It’s the news we’ve been waiting for. Reports have come through that indicate Rafael Van der Vaart is available for Spurs’ home clash with Bolton tomorrow.
While we still await official confirmation from the club, BBC reporter Mike Sewell broke the news on his twitter stream in the last few minutes, to the delight of Fantasy managers. Sewell, at Harry Redknapp’s press conference this morning, has confirmed the Dutchman has overcome his ongoing hamstring trouble and comes into the squad for the Trotters game.
The doubts surrounding Van der Vaart’s hamstring have already seen him transferred out of nearly 56,000 teams this gameweek, easily the most of any player. Those who decided to “get rid” will be hoping he has an off-day at the Lane, while those who have patiently held will be savouring the thought of the Dutchman tormenting an off-form Bolton team as Spurs go for their tenth win in eleven.
With Jermain Defoe having played from the start in Wednesday’s Europa League clash with PAOK, the odds are on Van der Vaart making the first XI tomorrow- he may well get his obligatory 60+ minutes but time and again this season, he’s shown he is more than capable of producing the points with relatively limited game time and will be another strong option for the armband ahead of tomorrow’s game at the Lane.
We’ll bring you more on this as we get it.
