Dugout Discussion – West Ham vs Liverpool

Liverpool’s top four ambitions come under scrutiny in Sunday’s next encounter, as Jurgen Klopp’s charges make their way to the London Stadium to face a buoyant West Ham United.

Boosted by last Friday’s 1-0 victory over London rivals Spurs, Slaven Bilic’s side will provide a stern test of Liverpool’s credentials; the Hammers have kept three successive clean sheets heading into this match.

The Reds will surely look to Philippe Coutinho for inspiration.

The Brazilian is comfortably the top owned asset on show in this afternoon kick-off, with the midfielder still part of 18.8% of squads.

He has suffered from significant recent sales, however: more than 221,000 managers have moved Coutinho out of their squads over the previous two Gameweeks. A modest 14-point return over his last four Gameweeks, featuring just a single goal, proved damaging.

Coutinho’s profit from this match is likely to have the main impact on our Gameweeks, then, with only minor interest elsewhere.

Roberto Firmino – part of 10.5% of squads – misses out, while Daniel Sturridge earns a rare start, his first since Gameweek 20.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Is this the day Liverpool mark their return to the pinnacle of football? Outsiders to lifting the CL trophy next season?

Early thoughts on how to finish the season?

    Would love two punts.

    2ft, 0itb.

    Cech
    Alonso / Monreal / Yoshida
    Sanchez / Hazard / Alli / Sane / King
    Kane / Jesus

    Pickford / Stephens / Holgate / Anichebe

Only if Haz stars vs Watford. If rested, he should play vs SUN. Otherwise agree with this.

Do people think the big DGW us the right week to bench boost?

2 seasons running I've used it on that week and twice now I've had disappointment.

3 no shows yesterday and that was after a -8 to get Walcott Stones and Valencia out (each had a dgw but was imo too risky of not playing)

Then regardless, I get no shows from another 3 (Gabbiadini Gibbs Ward Prowse) and the weeks not over yet.

Almost every other week all 15 play, but at season end DGW time, everyone rotates. So is it even worth using BB on a big DGW?

And its not that hard to plan for 11 DGW players in such a week.

Thinking next season I might BB earlier on as it seems to go to waste on a week like this

I think the early dgws are the best time to use it. Too many pointless games result in rotation

      1. Sánchez
        • 11 Years
        7 years, 1 day ago

This is my thinking on why its a waste. Likes of my triple Southampton who have nothing to play for. Tripled up in advance of dgw x2 but really let down. Same with man utd europa rotation. Too many either with other priorities or on the beach attitudes or being rested etc

Agree, used mine in GW35 and picked up 20 pts from Pickford, Zaha, Stephens and Calum Chambers. Was ridiculed prior to that but spoke to about rotation and the nailed on status at the time of all four of those players who ALL had home games. Happy in retrospect, but of course an element of luck that Puel rotated so many SOU assets and the highly owned budget keepers like Jakupovic and Pickford failed in the same week.

i think its just hard luck..
i wc eed in gw36 in preparation for bb in gw37..
and had 25 points in bench on gw36... and around 10 this gw,,,!!

It depends on a lot of things, especially on whether the DGW teams have something to play for. There would still have been some rotation for rest but nowhere near as much.

For me personally, I seriously considered BB last week, and it would've worked - 25 points on my bench compared to almost nothing this week. If the teams in the big DGW next year have nothing to play for, I'll change my strategy.
