Maybe I underestimated Granville. Maybe his throwaway comment made at 10.32 on a weary Wednesday evening wasn’t throwaway at all. Maybe Granville is a Fantasy football mind games genius.

Regardless of whether his plan was pre-meditated and devious, it certainly worked as you’ll find out in this, episode ninety of the ScoutCast.

Aside from my sidekick’s scheming, we give dear old Leighton another rinse following his twanged hamstring, tackle the template midfield yet again, check on the market movements in “all aboard” and, of course, look forward to the weekend action. We also start spending points on the ScoutCast team: it’s the slippery slope. Where’s Granville’s genius when you need it?

    It'll get lost on the last thread, but Joe Allen guys? Talk to me?

    Lucas is back, Allen will be playing further up the pitch influencing the attacking side of things more.

    Allen's price has gone down (which is enticing for me) due to him playing the holding role, and for a few weeks now has had a tough time of things. Admittedly, his form has been poor, but he is not a holding midfielder.

    Lucas' return changes a lot. Joe Allen further forward, Raheem Sterling cutting in from the left, and maybe even Gerrard will be the main beneficiary's from Lucas' return.....

      4 goals 4 assists from the position i'm assuming you're talking about last season. not bad going for his price. thing is, someone that cheap will probably generally be on bench and you'll probably miss out on those occasional points. will be interesting to see though. i do think lucas coming back will make a big difference to pool

      If you want a cheapie in midfield go for Puncheon, leave Pool for now unless you get Suarez or Enrique.

      i'd like to hear a west brom fan's opinion but surely reid will come back in for jones, he's a much much better player. and he seems to be ok too, just being eased back so as not to risk him

        I disagree, Jones looks a good player. Reid is old and struggling with injuries constantly. But like anyone, I have no idea what Clarke is planning.

      Short term not such a bad idea. If you don't have Bale then only get one Arsenal. Silva/Mata/Hazard are not that appealing atm so worth considering.

      I'm getting Giroud so I'll have Cazorla, Giroud and Gibbs and I do not think it's too much Arsenal given the fixtures long as you have an exit strategy when they worsen.

      Yeh Cazorla and Walcott only got good returns together once, against 10 man Spurs, seems Caz may leave most of the attacking to Walcott when they are on together. Small sample size though so could be wrong.

      'Arry will improve the defence in search of results

      Davies is the safest of these picks at this very moment but not the best for fixtures. Then again...he is very benchable so that's not a big issue maybe.

        Defence should be better, Harry paired Diakite and Mbia in midfield to protect the defence and did in his first game what Hughes couldn't do in a year - keep a clean sheet away from home!

    Just watching last nights MOTD, I could only laugh at Downing's defending for Spurs' first. Doesn't watch his man, stops, Lennon walks by him and taps it in. Downing looks completely shocked that Lennon scored 😆

        well it's done now, no going back

        You have to stick to your gut, and my gut tells me that Long and Fellaini is better than Morrison and another forward. Especially if Morrison gets pushed deep again

        Even coming off the bench Long is still a threat and i think given he was rested yesterday he's nailed on to start this weekend IMO.

        I may regret it, but that is life.. I took plenty of advice on board, but like i said, my gut tells me it's the right thing.

      Whittaker's place is under threat by the return of Martin I'd imagine. It'd be nice to say Whittaker is nailed on because of his performances and maybe he won't be dropped but it's a risky punt at the minute when Martin (who is quite popular anyway) is back and ready to play.

      Whittaker/Martin Bassong Turner/Bennett/Barnett Garrido

      Garrido and Bassong are the only ones absolutely nailed on. With Turner presumably preferred when fit.

      It might be difficult for Martin to get back in because of Whittaker's form. But you can see why it's a gamble getting Whittaker.
