Injuries

Rooney’s Extended Layoff Boosts The Hernandez Option

Alex Ferguson has brought us the first dose of significant injury news of the day, suggesting that Wayne Rooney’s ankle injury will keep him sidelined for longer than the expected three week period.

The United boss revealed in today’s press conference that the striker was now likely to miss the derby clash with City on November 10. He offered a pretty vague prognosis, stating that Rooney is simply “injured and resting” ahead of the weekend meeting with Spurs but made it clear that he “could” be missing for a longer period than the intial three-week assessment. When asked on the three week absence Ferguson replied “I think it may be longer.”

This latest information is of course of interest as it boosts the Fantasy potential of Javier Hernandez. The Mexican looks nailed on for starts in Rooney’s absence given his current form and would now seem set to earn starts against Spurs, Wolves and City and possibly Aston Villa three days later. A run of four Gameweeks would certainly increase his appeal as a mid-price option up front given that he can be recruited for just 7.0 in the Fantasy Premier League Game.

With many Fantasy Managers facing up to shifting the injured Carlos Tevez from their squads, it seems that Hernandez suddenly offers improved prospects as a cheap alternative.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

bosingwa or ivanovic??bos for me a much better player as good on the right as cashley on the left ,with them 2 bombing forward bburn will rarely be in chelsea half ,and if they are essien and mikel will cover ,go on bosingwa..

Really? Id say carroll hes got less competition for places, when zamora and johnson are both fit dembele might get moved wide lessening his chances of scoring.

Carroll has too much going on in court. Plus Dembele is a better differential.

Isn't Dembele Fulham's free kick specialist? I remember at least one goal he has scored from a free kick.

    Robinson (Gomes)
    Coleman, Samba, Shawcross, Cole (Toure)
Nani, Malouda, vDV, Petrov (De Jong)
    Tevez, Bent (Carroll)

    Worth a 4 point hit?
    Tevez > Varney or Campbell
    Petrov > Fabregas

Also, which 3 defenders should i start? Thinking 3-4-3 formation. Which keeper?

my team has gone from looking quite strong with bosingwa and malouda, to pretty unsure that either will start and albrighton is on a red. that'll leave me with having to play elmo/konch/williamson/foley in defence... i have a strong XI but have had shit luck the last few weeks.

Seriously, if Bale is rested away at Utd, I'll be pissed off at Harry. I reckon we actually have a decent chance of a result up there. Been ages... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VsExRNxhAeI

If 'arry can come up with a team talk that is slightly more tactically insightful than his standard -

      "kick it in na goal...

& dont kick it in our goal"

then I think Spurs have every chance of a decent result this weekend, (sad as I am to say it)

    My team is currently:
    Al Habsi
    Coleman, Elmohamady, Jose Enrique
    Nzogbia, Adam, Malouda, Fabregas, Nani
    Chamakh, Drogba
    (Robinson, Carrol, Konchesky, Alcaraz)

    Does that look about right?
Im really struggelig about deciding who to play from Nzogbia and Carrol. Also considering playing konchesky instead of Elmohamady. I dont see Sunderland getting a clean sheet this weekend. Im also not sure of who to play of Robinson and Al-habsi. Robinson will def get some save points, but al-habsi are more likely to keep a clean sheet.
    What do you guys think?

need advice, am seriously tempted by hernandez this week, this is the only way i can get him in:
    malouda and harewood OUT
n'zogbia and hernandez IN 4 point hit
is this worth the hit, or really the question should be is hernandez worth it????????

Personally I would go Jussi as Bolton are playing very well at home at the mo.
I would also play 3-4-3 with N'Zogbia in the team either inplace of Salcido or Simpson.

lovely news on alex. interestingly from the footage of today's little training session alex lined up alongside terry with bosingwa rb. hmmmmmmm. but josh maceachran was also in that side so probably not worth looking into too much

    Hey guys A or B

    A. 4 point hit

Chamakh for tevez and Fabs for Gerrard

    or

    B. 8 point hit

    Tevez for hernandez
    Konchesky for A.Cole
    Gerrard for Fabs?

    Cheers

Should have waited until today. Now that Rooney is out longer I kind of wish I'd gone for Chico instead of Chamakh.

Then again I'll probably want to get Tevez back asap anyway

Im saying the choice to pick Chamachk or Chico is no different from yesterday.

Chico will still have to score. Just cos Rooney is out abit longer doesnt suddenly mean he will.

Its pointless saying I should have picked A over B based on nothing,
