The Watchlist – Morten Gamst Pedersen

Three wins in their last four league games means Blackburn Rovers once-stuttering season is now firmly back on track, with Morten Gamst Pedersen, in particular, being pivotal to their recent resurgence. The Norwegian has scored four in four for Sam Allardyce’s men, including a brace against Aston Villa on Sunday, and all of this after getting punched in the heart by Joey Barton.

Pedersen’s recent outstanding form has allowed him to sneak up the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) standings somewhat un-noticed. Priced at £5.7m, he costs the same as Charlie Adam and has, like the Blackpool playmaker, also scored 65 FPL points, yet Adam has been selected by a whopping 18.1% of Fantasy Managers in comparison to Pedersen’s meagre ownership of 1.7%. The Norwegian’s credentials as a real “differential” is shown by the fact that his FPL points total also tops the far more popular (and equally-priced) Fantasy selections such as Matthew Etherington, Charles N’Zogbia and Chris Brunt.

Outwith a difficult trip to Old Trafford this upcoming weekend, fixtures are certainly on Blackburn’s side right now; from Gameweek 16 their next five games (WOL, bol, WHM, STK, wba) are all definitely winnable. A good run of form before the New Year would push Rovers up from mid-table mediocrity and perhaps persuade the club’s new Indian owners to splash the cash in the January transfer window, which would surely be the perfect Christmas present for Big Sam.

Pedersen is bound to be a vital participant in this potentially significant run and is in irresistible form, picking up 9 FPL bonus points in his last 4 games. The player himself has identified the spurt in form to a change of position that has seen him come in from the left-flank to a more central role.

“I’m playing in a different position now, more central rather than out wide as I played five years ago…It’s going well for me and that’s five goals in five games if you include the international match last Wednesday. It’s hard to say what has happened, but I worked hard to turn things round. Now I’m really looking forward to that next game at United”

Pedersen goes to United having scored a brace in a Rovers victory back in 2005. While a repeat performance may be too much to ask, Pedersen is undboutedly on a high and continued returns after the United game look a strong possibility.

look ti this way: Is it worth to buy Coleman this week and next week to sell him for Kolarov or this week directly to buy Kolarov?

Anything can happen till next GW IMO.

Aghh! Can’ decide between Nasri or Bale for replacing Fabs! Who do you think will score more this weekend? Bale vs Liverpool (h) or Nasri vs Aston Villa (a)?

    Thanks

I don't agree with that at all.

As I said yesterday one game in particular, at West Ham, was called off last season and there was no snow to be seen by the time they kicked off.

Thats because they had had prolonged, dangerous ice all around the ground on the lead up to the game and temparatures of -5. Not the case this time. Also, they ran out of salt everywhere as the whole county had issues, again not the case this time.

I could be wrong but i dont think i will be.

In the case of the West Ham game that's just not true, it wasn't even icy.

The first game to be called off was in an earlier spell, at Wigan, and wasn't after a long cold spell but a sudden snow fall.

Not saying that there will be games called off but I think there's a significant risk.

Thinking about it, I may hold off on transfers this week.

My team: foster (krul), dann, konch, vidic, coleman (jara), nani, dempsey, bale (fabs, routledge), elmander, drogs, carroll.

Is this a decent enough team for this week? Gives me 2 free next week to get rid of fabs and spread the cash around, possibly getting in rooney or torres for elmander. Will try and get fabs back in on wildcard in Jan

Will Fabs be protected or will he drop in value?

Ha! I was hoping Darren Fletcher's injury would mean John O'Bese would play in midfield this weekend and now the Team News page says he should do. Result.

After having the lump hanging around my team for weeks, losing value and getting no points, this is payback time. He better get a clean sheet and deflect a couple of jammy goals in off his face.

Alright guys, this is my brothers team and he asked me to ask you wise old beans for a bit advice!
    Carson Sorenson
Vidic Elmohamady L Young Dann Crainey
    Malouda Nani Nasri VDV Ferguson
    Varney Chamakh Drogba

The only league he is in is a head to head so I recommened to him to not take any big point hits, however his team sort of needs it!

    Cheers in advance

If he is only bothered about his head to head and not his overall position then his best tactic would be to make his changes all in one week to sort his team out and almost write off that week. That way he is set up going forward to clean up in the future.

don't people fancy a chance for Chelsea to put few goals past Newcastle who without their first choice centre back?

i'm gonna lose another 0.1 tonight if people keep selling Drogba.

    who is the replacement? Rooney?

i think i will keep a faith with Drog for another week..
