Scout Scribbles- Balotelli to Face FA Charge

Mario Balotelli faces a four-match ban after appearing to stamp on Scott Parker. Reports suggest Peter Crouch could also be under investigation for an alleged eye-gouging incident at the weekend, Nani could be out for a fortnight, while Frank Lampard is set to miss Chelsea’s FA Cup game with QPR.

Mario Balotelli has until tomorrow evening to appeal or accept the charges of violent conduct dished out by the FA last night. Having examined footage of the incident in which Balotelli appeared to stamp on Tottenham’s Scott Parker, referee Howard Webb confirmed he would have dismissed the Italian striker. A three-match ban is the normal punishment for such a charge, but with Balotelli already seeing red at Anfield earlier in the season, he now faces a four-match ban which will begin with tomorrow night’s Carling Cup tie with Liverpool.

Should Balotelli look to appeal, he will be eligible for tomorrow’s game, although an unsuccessful appeal could extend his ban further. Given that the FA have already used footage to assess the incident and the fact that we’re dealing with Howard Webb – the FA’s most senior official – it would seem most unlikely that the charge will be overturned. City may feel more confident, however.

For Fantasy managers, Balotelli’s likely absence from three league games against (eve, FUL, avl), will raise the profile of Edin Dzeko as an option. The Bosnian has started City’s previous four games and earned an assist in Sunday’s 3-2 victory. Having begun the season in outstanding form, Dzeko clearly has the potential to offer an effective differential and provide at least a short-term alternative to the 11.1 Sergio Aguero.

Peter Crouch is another striker potentially in trouble. A report in the Daily Mirror claims that the FA have agreed to examine footage of an incident which appeared to show Crouch gouging the eyes of West Brom’s Jonas Olsson. Crouch could miss the FA Cup match with Derby on Saturday as well as league games against Manchester United and Sunderland.

There are further details emanating from Old Trafford concerning the casualties suffered in Sunday’s 2-1 win at the Emirates. On the plus side, The Times are amongst those reporting that Phil Jones’ ankle injury is not as severe as anticipated, suggesting that he has not suffered the ligament damage that Sir Alex Ferguson feared. There’s possibly a chance that Jones will be fit to face Liverpool in the FA Cup this weekend, with reports claiming he is feeling no real discomfort in the ankle.

Nani is more of a concern, however. There are several reports stating a likely two-week absence for the Portuguese winger, who was said to leave the Emirates wearing a protective boot. The Daily Mail claim that Nani has himself stating a likely absence and state that United are set to scan the injury, for fear of a cracked a metatarsal. Elsewhere, Wayne Rooney and Michael Carrick are expected to be available for the weekend Cup tie, despite suffering ankle and hamstring problems respectively.

Chelsea hope to have Frank Lampard available for the trip to Swansea next week, after scans revealed that the midfielder suffered just a small tear to his calf muscle in the 0-0 stalemate at Carrow Road. Meanwhile, Andre Villas-Boas has confirmed the reasons behind Gary Cahill’s omission from the Chelsea squad at Norwich.

Gary Cahill trained with the team for three days and there are team principles to learn first, but he had a very good week and showed all his qualities.

Cahill is in line for his Chelsea debut this weekend and could make his first league appearance for the club at the Liberty next week. He is already amongst the most popular defensive signings in the Fantasy Premier League game, attracting over 6,000 transfers so far in the Gameweek, despite his no-show on Saturday. Look out for our Scout Report on Cahill’s prospects later in the week.

Still in West London, and the Mark Hughes revolution looks set to begin with the capture of AC Milan left-back Taye Taiwo. Reports on Sky yesterday claimed that a work permit has been granted as the deal reached its conclusion. Fantasy managers will be monitoring the Loftus Road entrance for new arrivals prior to the transfer window closing, as Rangers approach a run of opponents that could see their Fantasy output increase dramatically. A move for City’s Nedum Onuoha is also mooted, although a potential deal for Chelsea’s Alex looks to be in jeopardy amidst reports that the Brazilian prefers a move to Paris St Germain.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Reading through the Sky Sports public comments and there seems to be a hell of a lot of bitter Spurs fans who believe that as well as Balotelli being banned, their winning goal should be knocked off.

Now as much as Mario is an idiot, I think the idea of taking off a goal is even more idiotic. What think you?

Hopefully putting the tin lid on the usual British tabloid transfer window gossip, Mario Götze of Borussia Dortmund will be out for 6-8 weeks due to "overexertion and stress of the pubic joint". Oo-er, missus.

For the Champions League fantasy crew, Daniel van Buyten of Bayern Munich is also facing a long absence due to a metatarsal fracture suffered in the defeat against Gladbach on Friday.

Bayern often rely on van Buyten's experience in big matches and their defensive cover was already thin. Boateng and Badstuber are all that remains at centre-back, as Breno has gone a bit mental and may not play again for the club:

      Vorm (Given)

      Clark Evans BAE (Enrique/Simpson)

I'm looking at Welbeck as a possible replacement for Fletcher. depending on Injuries I could do the following over a 4 gw period:
          Mata - Dempsey
          Rooney - Aguero
          Valencia - Silva
          Fletcher - Welbeck
As it stands I would have 1.3m left over too so wouldn't need to worry about price rises/drops.
I'm sure all those plans will change once the next bandwagon comes along!

a great set of attackers there!

I would def have all of them... though I feel Aguero is a little on the expensive side.

For me, Valencia is a keeper - playing best for Utd in his career imo

Keeping. For now... tough to say really. I always said I'd keep him for the season because Liverpool's defence has been stingy throughout thus far. They might be going through a rough patch now but hopefully once their attack picks up pace again (with the return of Suarez), defence will strengthen up as well.

Hey everyone, quick RMT? Happy to return the favour:

      Vorm (CHE)

Baines (MCI), Kelly (WBA), Raylor (bla)

Bale (WIG), Sess (NOR), McClean (NOR), Dempsey (WBA)

RVP (bol), Aguero (eve), Helguson (ast)

Subs: Sorensen (mun), Enrique (wol), Dyer (CHE), Simpson (bla)

      - Vorm: If Swansea can somehow hold off Chelsea, Vorm may be in line for some bonus and save points. If Norwich could manage...
      - Baines: No more free subs left so can't take him out. Hoping for some luck from a set piece. HIGHly doubt a clean sheet.
      - Captain choice - who's the best choice between Aguero, RVP, Demsey & Bale?

Any suggestions would be fantastic! Thanks!

      Mignolet

      J Evans / Senderos / Richards (Santon / Shotton)

      Silva / Sess(C) / Bale / Valencia / Dempsey

      Fletch / RVP (Studge)

I reckon I have the line up right, just difficult deciding who to captain? On Sess at the moment. What d'ya think guys?

Nice line-up. Not sure about Fletcher against 'pool but you can never tell after the debacle against Bolton.

I would captain Dempsey, Bale or RVP actually. RVP would be the safest bet and he should definitely score against Bolton... unless Bolton's reaching some form of consistency.

Current GK are Vorm & Ruddy, do I change to -

      A. Lindegaard & Mignolet with 5.0 to spend on defender
      B. Lindegaard & Krul with 4.3 to spend on defender
      C. Mignolet & Krul with 4.4 to spend on defender

Defence will be Richards, Enrique, Evans, Santon & ?

C - IMO. I think they rotate quite well too. Then you would have the cash for either Senderos / Shotton in defence.

I got Huth in for this game and i believe he got an assist as well. I planned to get him in next week and after remembering this, i HAVE to do it!

Wow no yellow card either, that makes 2+3+6+6-1+3bps= 19 points.

Sick, I know who my captain is GW24 😉

WC defence, I have Richards, Huth & Kelly. Which other 2 would you get:

      A) Vermaelen & Caulker
      B) Cahill & Kaboul
      C) Cahill & Enrique
      D) Cahill & Koscielny
      E) Evans & Cahill +1.1

Other suggestions welcome, i have 10.8 to spend.

I like A, both definetly gonna play. Most weeks you could play Verm, Richards & Huth and then you have 2 cheapies who u can play depending on fixtures if you wanna go 4 at the back.

Yeah, there is always the injury concern with Vermaelen this season. All depends on whether Cahill is in the team for the Swansea game, with Essien coming back, i fancy Chelsea to tighten up.

True, but he is a points machine when fit. I suppose when the CL kicks off again Cahill might play in the PL games and Luiz in the CL games, id personally wait and see for a while tho. I think Luiz will play more often than people think.

          +1

Neither are 100% reliable but are a good indication.

I find that "Risers" are pretty accurate on fiso. "Fallers" are hit and miss when the players is yellow or red flagged.
