In Development – The Stats Compare Tool

The “Stats Compare Tool” is the current work in progress for the Members Area. We’re hoping to have a first iteration of this new members feature available by the end of next week, at which point we’ll turn our attentions to producing new event maps on the Match Dashboard and Player Profile.

The Compare Tool has been a long-term aim. It allows for direct comparison of two players, across over 100 statistics, with an instant representation of which player is stronger and in which areas.

The tool fully incorporates our stat maps so, right now, you can compare Average Positions for any two players and, when we’ve added further maps, this will be extended to events like Shots, Crosses, Chances Created and a touches heatmap.

Those maps, along with all the stats in a player comparison, can be fully sliced by our filters. This means you can compare two players over the “last four Gamweeks”, their “last four matches” or compare two players home or away record. You can even take a single player and run a comparison home and away, or compare his form so far in 2012/13 to his previous season’s data.

We’re also adding the ability to switch to average values so you can see minute per event stats for all the numbers shown, leveling the playing field for the comparisons.

The tool will be accessible via the Members Area menu and we’re hoping to provide shortcuts to running player comparisons in the Player stats tables and in the Player Profiles. A compare button will immediately take you to the tool for the players, or player you’re viewing or have selected.

They’ll hopefully be more news on this development, plus a movie previewing the feature, at some stage next week.

cheers, I was looking at a Sunderland/WBA keeper rotation. QPR, Wigan and Norwich looks good for a 3 team rotation, Fabio, Boyce and Whiitaker.

Terry for GW1 for me, then out for Vidic. Lescott or Kompany as well. Either combo or Villa, Reading and Saints.

The Fulham, Sunderland, Wigan combo looks good, but not with a Sunderland/WBA keeper rotation.

          I like Stoke and West Brom as prospect, but dont want Swansea which is the three team combo. So may go with;

          Hammers//Stoke

          WestBrom//Villa//Wigan//Two biggies

But Stoke in goal is a major risk with rotation. Decisions Decisions.

That also looks good, but I may go with Sunderland and WBA as rotating keepers, so may not work, might have to re-think my keepers.

In that case you might want to have a look to see if there are teams other than Swansea that rotate with Stoke and West Brom. The spreadsheet isn't comprehensive.

That is why the likes of Sunderland and QPR and Stoke are worthwhile, they are hard to beat and don't ship many at home. If I can work Huth in i will. Will use the 2 team one as a guide. Huth, Fabio and someone else may be worthwhile if I go Mingolet and Foster

Have a look at Wigan with QPR and Stoke. Wigan rotate well with QPR anyway so it should work as a three team rotation.

yeah I prefer that to Norwich. Was looking at some Saints coverage at the back, but they don't have great rotation oprions.

                    A defensive line of

                    Mingolet/Foster

Fabio, Boyce, Huth, Bad K and Terry (to become Vidic in GW2) looks pretty good to me.

Tomkins all day. Southhampton strike me as a new Norwich, apart from rotation being a major issue, they are gonna go all out on attack and so their defence will not be worth investment. Lallana on the other hand...

Agreed, it's so hard to pick 5 defenders. I definitely want Lescott/Bad K, Terry (Vidic GW2), Tomkins, Harte and possibly Ridgewell/Boyce/Fabio/Huth

Can't decide on the 5th defender as I have a good feeling about Tomkins and feel that the bonus sysytem will favour him.

Also will have Noble and probably will go for Lallana/Rodriguez as cheapies.

What is you take on defence? Is it all about rotation?

In some respects its all about rotation, but also you could find a potential goldmine who outperform all our expectations like Swansea did last season. 3 solid cheapies give you a decent chance at hitting the big time.

      Find out for yourself! 😛

Go to the home fixtures tab
Copy and paste the West Ham, QPR and Stoke columns into excel
Then type the best fixture(s) for that GW into another column
If the home fixtures are bad for all of them look at the easiest away fixture and enter that instead.

Once you've done the first 20 weeks see how it looks. I wouldn't bother gong beyond GW20 due to the Jan wildcard.

    Gink

Just took at look at how West ham rotate with QPR and Stoke, the answer is as well as Wigan, who would you rather have Tomkins or a Wigan defender. Am leaning towards a Wigan boy so I can get Noble.

I can't remember the stats exactly but I think West Ham's CS record last season was better away from home. That's the sort of thing that becomes frustrating in a home/away rotation strategy.

        not for me, GW4

        QPR - CHE

        Stoke - MCI

        Wigan - mnu

        West Ham - nor

Which of those 4 fixtures do you like. Would fancy having to play a defender in any of the first 3.

Is it just that GW that pushes you towards West Ham? I'd personally rather have a Wigan defender than a Hammer and one problematic GW doesn't change that.

Personally I might go West ham, especially if Matty Taylor gets the "correct" classification.

But if the wing backs get classed as defenders then I will be in a pickle. I reckon that the hammers will be a tougher defensive force under long ball Sam, but that said Wigan were working the 3-5-2 excellently at the end of the season so could be a viable option.

I am going with Lallana so wont be getting Noble either way.

just looked, none of those teams have great rotation with West Ham. Best options are Walters (if he's classed as a mid again) Etherington. N'Zog, Fellaini or McAnuff. Rotation with Llalana is not perfect but it's not too bad.

It's so hard to pick their midfielder - Nolan scored more and has more experience, however Noble is younger and is on mostly all of their set-pieces and penos. Noble probably edges Nolan for me. Thoughts guys? Ta

issue with any Villa mid is they are managed by Paul Lambert. We know how he likes his midfield rotation.

Thing is, in a game between two very strong baseline players it'll become all about who has the most finesse on the shots which is Federer. If either of them was a more net based player that'd shake it up a bit but both prefer the baseline rallies.

Just to echo what everyone without fail is thinking, properly excited about FPL being set to launch this week.

On the utterly pointless side, definitely targeting as low an ID as possible. Don't think #1 is even possible (I'm sure the people who write the website will set themselves up an account) but wonder how long I can get. What's the lowest ID you've managed to get? Can you remember how long it takes to fill out the registration form? Could be a bloody mad rush.

It's weird you are happy that Utd lost the league to City considering they are taking all your players. Actually forget weird it full on mental. RvP this summer, Wilshere next summer. It'll be like clockwork.

Well he does if he is keeping him on and loaning out his considerably more able brother is what I reckon. Raf was poor in those games and quite at fault but Rio and Evra have been shaky at times too, at least Raf has time to develop.

Laying is about insuring that no money is lost with either outcome. If Murray wins then SuperDunny will still make money just not as much, however the risk is a lot lower.

Yup. I can just lay to get my stake back (about 25quid) or lay them off so i get a level return whoever wins. I should at least get my stake back really but part of me wants to let it ride and hope to collect about 170 if Murray somehow does it!

Preferably both 😀 but it's really just for fun.

There are always inplay possibilities of course. If Murray gets off to the kind of start he did against Tsonga then hedging will be a lot more comfortable!

                  ''Majority''

No one had a good game against Bilbao, no point using that as a metric.

Not sure why you're saying well played, I didn't claim he was good in that but he was very solid defensively in the MAJORITY of his games.

I'm not sure why i'm debating this with you anyway, as since your Michael Collins routine on twitter i've absolutely no interest in your opinion.

Undoubtably you'll consider this 'winning' the debate as i can't be arsed to highlight every match rafael made a howler, but let me leave you with this: If he had defended to an acceptable standard against Everton, Utd would have won the league. You can stick your MAJORITY right up your hole.

I don't consider it winning the debate, it was never in question that Rafael has imp-roved significantly defensively.

''since your Michael Collins routine'' At least you had an interest once, never rated yours. Countless fails to date.

Run along now and suck up to all the cool United fans on twitter as usual.

Switching as in Raf in Vals position and Val in defence or Val back and Raf out? Because if we're really planning on letting Val go defensive we would have been better keeping Fabio, he seems more comfortable in the middle.

I agree that Rafa is very attacking for a defender and have often said that both him and Fabio should be played as mids. Still, Valencia wasn't bad in defence but would he be happy with that + would Rafa be reliable enough to be a regular there?

Well Rafa did go on a decent run of attacking returns I think last season. He also is alright at defending so would be reliable to track back. BTW there is no indication this will ever happen just me thinking aloud

I was on placement there with a pharmaceutical company myself as part of my University course. Loved it, going out in Old Town. Got to see a few Stevenage games too, Stevenage and Crawley Town are my second teams.

I support Man Utd first of all. But Crawley are the nearest league team to my family home and Stevenage was a fun year for me, so both teams are close to me.

              United always comes first though.

            Nice one!

Did you stop off at the proverbial in old town? You have a curry at the taj?

Stevenage is quality so much to do! I support Stevenage Boro, shame about Lairdy, Henry and so many more leaving... could struggle in League one next year

I always watched football with my flatmate in Proverbial or the White Lion. I only went out for meal with work near Hitchin. Walked past Taj from train station to my flat every day, but never ate there. Normally on nights out we would go Cinnabar or the spoons opposite it for pre drinks.

If they went up, I think they would have struggled so much. I think a league 1 team, doing well in league 1 but not quite making it up (like MK Dons) seems to be where Stevenage have found their niche. I went to about 3game over my year there, their first game in League 1 vs Exeter and a cup tie against Peterborough.

Ey lads, any idea on who Caulkers replacement would be? Monk most probably? And if Vertonghen does seal the Spurs deal, would his price be around 5-5.5 or more?
