Sky Sports Fantasy Game – Bonus Points Analysis

As mentioned previously, our Fantasy football coverage will also include a weekly article on the Sky Sports game as we look to broaden our analysis of the various games available to Fantasy managers this season. Having already assessed the Rules, the Player List and broken down last season’s Man of the Match awards, the next article analyses the introduction of the new bonus points system, which awards players who make 60+ completed passes and/or 4+ successful tackles in any given Gameweek.

Unlike the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, Sky Sports use Opta data for analysing player performance – making it a perfect accompaniment for our Members section data. For that purpose, we’ve created custom tables in the Members Area which highlights the main protagonists from 2011/12, indicating the respective haul each player would have accrued in bonus points alone were the rule in place last season. These statistics are not available in the Sky Sports game, or anywhere else, giving our members a real edge when it comes to selecting their initial squads.

With two points for 60+ passes and another two points for 4+ tackles, it’s clear that the new bonus system will have a definite impact in how we approach the task of setting up our teams for the season ahead. Bearing in mind that the Points Scoring system allocates five points for a goal or a Man of the Match award and three points for an assist, identifying those players who are capable of producing the bonus points looks almost as vital.

Unsurprisingly, given the bonus criteria, nine of the top ten are midfielders, while Swansea’s passing game under Brendan Rodgers sees as many as three of their players also feature in the upper echelons, with one hovering just outside…

Cant see Beasejour moving. And the 60+ passes was due to the position, have you noticed how they knock the ball between each other at the back a lot whilst working some space to clear it.

Well before Arsenal really got into him i new he was a good player but didnt really pay much attention to him. But now we have bought him and the way people talk about him shows that he is a very good signing. He also scored for Spain last night.

It's not really, either you are one of those who play it in the international break or one of those who hold off for a DGW. I always play it eary, so why wait a week when i could potentially capitalize now? Everyone on here is saying how they hate this DGW becasue they don't want any Chelsea after. It kind of makes sense to do it.

Is it possible to check how many chances man utd created for wellbeck/Hernandez compared with how many arsenal created for RVP. So people are assuming that because he is now at man united, RVP will score a load more. But I wouldn't be surprised if arsenal created as many if not more chances than united.

I'm coming round to the idea that Rooney might still be a decent option. Rooney set up loads of chances that wellbeck tripped over, they would all be assists with RVP! If he keeps pens and free kicks I might still get him.

V similar to my team. I'd get rid of Kagawa tbh, too much danger for my liking. No one really knows how united are gonna get up, and if you're set on getting roo in, then a united mid isnt necessary; roo and van p will be hogging the goals. I reckon we'll only see 10-15 non-striker goals out of united this season. In terms of who to get in his place.... that's another matter.

Anyone else gambling with Lescott? I fear rotation for him.

Yeah that Savic is really coming on nicely. I fear for Lescott...

I think Lescott's safe unless they sign Agger

People seem to prefer Zab. At least for a few weeks. Costs .5 less too.

    Please RMT...

    Federici, (Jaaskelainen)

Cole A, Hangeland, Lescott, (Nelsen, Barnett)

Nolan, Robson-Kanu, Santi Cazorla, Yaya Toure (N'Zogbia)

    Rooney, Tevez, Torres

HRK for the first week and will stay on bench unless he better one of Zog or Nolan
Nolan is a place holder for Park, Taraabt etc
guess 4 DGW players..cover for most teams with not too much indulgence in any except City, who I expect to have a block buster opening at SOTs...

Hi all, Would appreciate any feedback on my current lineup. Giving me headaches =\

    deGea – Cerny (4.0dud)

    Clichy – ACole – Koscielny – Santon – Barnett

    VDV – Mata (c) – Kagawa – Walters – Puncheon

    Tevez – Ba – Podolski

    My main points of concern:

    VDV OR Siggudrson
    Mata OR Hazard
Kagawa OR Young/Valencia/Nani (this may necessitate freeing up 0.5 from somewhere)

Will probably trade Kos for Sagna when he comes back into the squad. Clichy will probably make way for Richards when he comes back. The other drawback is that I have no spare funds at this stage.
