Sky Sports Fantasy Game – Bonus Points Analysis

As mentioned previously, our Fantasy football coverage will also include a weekly article on the Sky Sports game as we look to broaden our analysis of the various games available to Fantasy managers this season. Having already assessed the Rules, the Player List and broken down last season’s Man of the Match awards, the next article analyses the introduction of the new bonus points system, which awards players who make 60+ completed passes and/or 4+ successful tackles in any given Gameweek.

Unlike the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, Sky Sports use Opta data for analysing player performance – making it a perfect accompaniment for our Members section data. For that purpose, we’ve created custom tables in the Members Area which highlights the main protagonists from 2011/12, indicating the respective haul each player would have accrued in bonus points alone were the rule in place last season. These statistics are not available in the Sky Sports game, or anywhere else, giving our members a real edge when it comes to selecting their initial squads.

With two points for 60+ passes and another two points for 4+ tackles, it’s clear that the new bonus system will have a definite impact in how we approach the task of setting up our teams for the season ahead. Bearing in mind that the Points Scoring system allocates five points for a goal or a Man of the Match award and three points for an assist, identifying those players who are capable of producing the bonus points looks almost as vital.

Unsurprisingly, given the bonus criteria, nine of the top ten are midfielders, while Swansea’s passing game under Brendan Rodgers sees as many as three of their players also feature in the upper echelons, with one hovering just outside…

Is Pogrebnyak a definite starter? Like his price and a double gameweek. Seems more people are going for Graham though...

What do people think of this team:

    Friedel Federici
    Zabaleta Cole. Fabio Cuellar Hughes
    Taarabt Yaya Bale Pienaar Maloney
    Torres Aguero Pogrebnyak

2.5 in the bank to get Torres out for Wazza and then Cole out for Vidic GW3

I would do 4.5 DEF to 4M and get Lescott over Zab for longer term.

Others things will be needed to sorted by then in your team.

I see what you mean though, could always get cash for Lescott later.

Use that .5 to upgrade Puncheon. You'll use pretty much all of your 15 players this season. Your whole team needs to be strong.

United want to win the league and more. They saw that Rooney couldn't be in every game...

So £24mil to have a chance at doing the treble is actually worth it. Just because I have a different opinion to a lot of the sheep here doesn't mean I have a tiny IQ. And actually I think Rooney is better than Van Persie. Rooney is more consistent and Van Persie gets all this acclaim just because of one good season in 7. No one is saying Van Persie is crap but he's29 and injury-prone. He won't get more than 2300 mins.

                I'm not being silly. 2300 mins = 25 games.

Who else did Arsenal have up front last year? No one. Look at United. They have Hernandez and Welbeck. If United opt for a lone striker with Kagawa in the hole then it even limits his time more. I'm being realistic, as it stands RVP won't get more than 2300 mins for United, no one is disputing he wont get over 20 goals in this time but at least acknowledge that there are other strikers that limit his game time.

Looks good, I'd try to find the 0.5m for DDG, not sold on Kagawa now RVP has arrived, lots of competition from Cleverley, Giggs, Scholes....
Kags, Friedel, Taarabt out for DDG, Ramires, Nzog maybe...

        DDG is a rotation risk.

Hi, please rate my team! Not sure about ramires but I think Lampard is a good buy as he's scored more than 10 goals every season in the last 6 or 7 years and is cheap for 9.0!

    De Gea

    Clichy Jones Hangeland

Ramires Lampard Yaya Toure Van Der Vaart

    Torres Graham Tevez

    Thanks!

Have Lescott but may downgrade to Zab, Zab will be more attacking and .5 cheaper but Lescott is a big goal threat.. what do we think?

Personally think you should do lescott-> Zab and then Friedel -> DDG

    Federici,
    Harte, Lescott, Cole A,
    Sinclair, Lampard (C), Bale, Noble,
    Torres (VC), Graham, Tevez

Subs: Vorm, Demel, Jones, Maloney and £2Mil to play with

    RMT please!

    Friedel Federici

    Terry Lescott Cuellar Clyne McCartney

    Lampard Toure Pienaar Noble Maloney

    Aguero Torres Graham

    3M in the bank

Transfers in the next couple gameweeks:

    Lampard >>> Bale
    Torres >>> Rooney/Van Persie

I could switch Terry and Lescott for A.Cole and Zabaleta, so i could switch in Van Persie.

    What do you guys think?

I think Lampard will have a cracker of the seaso. Gone from one of the holy trinity to an extra because of what? Age? Position? He looked amazing last night regardless of the fact it was a friendly or not. Plus hes got pens, corners & free kicks.

    Hes in my team foooshooooww!!

Last 2 seasons have been relatively poor.

6 - 8m valued mids will outscore him this season.

For the first 3 weeks - double Arsenal defence? Do I dare?
It's probably insanity but Koscielny and Chezny are so cheap.
