The ScoutCast – Episode Eighty Four – Santigold

Out of his pajamas and back in the studio, Granville and I reconvene after another dull international break to resume ScoutCast duties.

Arsenal’s new playmaker dominates, with the pair of us coveting Santi Cazorla’s charms and competing for his affections, whilst, in the back of our minds, wondering if we’re being taken in.

Robin Van Persie also gets some oxygen – don’t worry, that’s not oxygen treatment – he’s just the subject of this week’s discussion as we chew the fat on the “essential” debate that appears to rage on as the Gamweek’s roll by. The regulars all find their place amongst the merriment, as heat is turned up on the mini-league and mini-game struggle between myself and Mancunian magic man.

Grab the fools gold via this link, or stream it now via the player below…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

next GW I am bringing Bego for Federici

but where would you suggest to use my 1FT this GW ? Also ready for taking 4pts hit

I was thinking about bringing Berba or Jelavic for one of my FWs. Also about Morisson or Walters for Noble or Maloney. Or maybe get rid of Zabaleta for someone else? Or maybe sth completely else?

    Thanks for advices! 🙂

Really? When Nolan, Morrison, Michu, Pienaar provide such good value. Imo you need one or two of those players which leaves you with this cash to spend on RVP or your defence.

For me Jelly over Pienaar, dont fancy morrisson- will have one of Nolan or Michu(Currently have both. I guess we will see how it all works out. I dont like RVP cause I would probably have to own 1 of Lambert, Crouch, Pog and I think they are all crap.

Whenever I listen to the scoutcast, I always feel they're both a little too pro-RVP if I'm honest.

That being said, if you've not sold RVP you've probably missed the boat, I reckon. Nice fixture this week (if he does play!) and then only two weeks until Man United have a cracking run of fixtures.

          Kos is a better sweeper
          Mert is a better anticipator

It really does depend on the opposition

Playing Mert against Jelavic would be pointless as he will be outrun, whereas Kos can match him for speed. Horses for courses.

He has been their best CB yes. Vermaelen being the captain means he's still the only nailed on one though. I fancy Mert to start this week, but couldn't possibly say after that. Think Wenger will continue to rotate him and Kos based on the opposition.

Maloney is very cheap and rotates as such with Sterling for the next 11 weeks:

RDG, WHM, NEW, WBA, WIG, RDG, x, SOT, QPR, AVL, FUL

x is a bad week, admittedly (MUN/ tot)

I realise he doesn't have the upside of some other options, but he does free up cash.

    My defence is a mess:
    Vorm / Etherington
Demel (injured), Jenkinson (Sagna might play), Baines (Woo hoo), Rangel (to get rid), Boyce (done f’all)

So plan this week is 2FT’s
Tevez > Jelavic to save cash
    Rangel > Riise

    Good plan?

So on the logic that City will score goals you need to own one of their players? Even though Tevez and Aguero will get rotated and not be involved with every goal? Whilst other strikers other high involvement with team goals for other teams that are quite attacking?

Pick the players not the teams.

Id rather have a person involved in 25% of 30 goals than a player involved in 50% of 10 goals.

I understand your point that some players are not worth it, but with all our experience we will surely find a way. Like right now if Silva is out longer- Nasri is the natural option. I currently have Tevez and happy with that too. I think cover is needed for certain set of fixtures and you need to plan for it.

May have to do the unthinkable and part with Berba in GW11. Got RvP, Jelly and Berba up top atm, and it’s ok for the next few but GW11 RvP’s fixtures turn awesome so he stays.

Jelly – SUN, rdg, NOR, ARS, mci, tot

Berba – ars, SUN, sto, che, TOT, new

Ba – WHM, SWA, sot, sto, WIG, ful

Will have to move Jelly on after Norwich I think

Other option is get Barfa and hope Berba remains fixture proof

Joint first at the end then. Works for me.

Who's the better option over the next 6-8 weeks between Rafael & Evans? Slightly concerned with Rafael being a bigger rotation risk, probably the better attacking threat though (although Jevans has been known to bag the odd goal and bonus)

Definitely Rafa, but I may be slightly bias.

Very odd goal, 2 I think in his united career

Both are equally at risk now Smalling is back. Smalling could be drafted in at rb to rest Rafa. But he could also be drafted in at cb to replace Rio who is old and injury prone, or Evans, who has been playing with a slight knock

      @Granville

Only issue with Nasri is it basically prevents me getting Ba.

I still can't look past Walters given Stoke's fixtures after this week, as I'm not considering Crouch.

Ba is the only man I'd consider breaking up the RvP, Berba, Jelavic unit for.

If you have aguero but not Rvp, would you play begovich away to Manu or foster at home to mci?

            Clean sheet odds:
            Stoke 17/2

Foster. WBA v City last season was 0-0 and it not that unusual for City to fire blanks away from home. How often do Utd fail to score at Old Trafford?

I'm pretty sure that your choice of striker won't influence the amount of goals put past your respective keepers.

Should I consider Nasri if it leaves me 0.1 short of getting Sagna in for Hangeland, with no idea of where to find that 0.1?

I'd leave Sagna alone until he's played a game or two.

      Dear Arsene,

Kindly confirm that Gibbs is out for 2-4 weeks. There's a tubby Brazilian, who when he's not auditioning for Fast and Furious 15, has played for you in the past and I'd love to take a punt.

      All the best,

      Scroobius
