The Stock Check

The Stock Check – Gameweek 10 – Saturday Part Two

City’s unbeaten run stretches to 10 games but their toils in front of goal continue, with a goalless draw at Upton Park. Sergio Aguero is handed a sub role yet again, while Andy Carroll draws yet another blank for the hosts:

On the Up

City Defence
This evening’s goalless draw maintained the champions’ recent upturn in defensive resilience. It’s three clean sheets and just one goal conceded in the last four Gameweeks now for Roberto Mancini’s men – the likes of Chelsea and United have one clean sheet apiece in the last six, by comparison.

West Ham Defence
A first clean sheet in six was just rewards for the home side’s resilient efforts. Sam Allardyce will be buoyed by his team’s ability to nullify City’s threat but with Guy Demel still sidelined and James Tomkins missing out through injury, the Hammers boss will be hoping James Collins can shake off a knock which forced him off towards the end, given their upcoming schedule.

Going Down

Sergio Aguero
With a vital Champions League game against Ajax in midweek, Aguero was benched yet again for this evening’s trip to Upton Park. Roberto Mancini started with three of his four forwards and while the Argentine was afforded some game time late on, he has now been omitted from the City first XI in three of the past four Gameweeks – despite his obvious capabilities, Aguero has simply become far too frustrating a Fantasy option right now, with his manager’s up front rotation dramatically curtailing his appeal.

Andy Carroll
His loan move to West Ham, which saw the towering centre-forward reunited with Sam Allardyce, was hailed as the perfect fit. The Hammers’ tactics seemed tailor-made for Carroll, with delivery from wide guaranteed to create chances aplenty in the air but it hasn’t quite transpired as Allardyce would have hoped. Another blank today means Carroll has just one assist in six appearances since making his way to Upton Park.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

I took him out this week for Nelsen and benched Nelsen ha, although ensured allowing for injuries that I would of had 11 players play, and offers good rotation for coming weeks. If injuries are of no concern and you still have good rotation without, I see no reason to get rid.

I really need Rafael for their good fixtures. My others defender are Baines,Williams, Demel, Hughes, Nelsen.

Reluctant to do Williams>Rafael since Swansea more solid at the back right now.

7M for the 3rd highest scorers in the league and an average of 6.8 PPG. Can't see anybody else worth considering bar Tevez.

I think you're referring to Berbatov. I agree, PPG is very impressive and yes bar Tevez he is a great striker option. I liken him to Fulhams new Dempsey except as a striker who is much cheaper and on penalty kicks.

Should I do any more transfers?:

    For a 4pt hit:

    (E) Not worth a hit

      E. Suarez looks decent for points away from home vs better teams and Aguero will start this one I think. I'd do Aguero > Ba after this week for free depending on CL results midweek. If City are still in contention I can't see Aguero starting vs Villa (H) before they play Madrid.

DZ could do with some help here.

    Begovic McCarthy
    Baines Rafael Sagna Gorkss Clyne
    Michu Santi Mata Pienaar Sterling
    RVP Berb Tevez

0.5 in the bank. Only one i want in is Ba. Should i
    a) Straight swap with Tevez who has TOT and AVL
    b) Swap with Berb for a hit (Ba has WHM and SWA, Berb has ars SUN)
    c) Stick to this strike force and forget Ba since i cant have em all

If b, who should i downgrade? Looks like someone from the midfield might have to make way. Was thinking Santi>Theo last week but not sure now.

All 3 are viable options I think, tough one.
Tevez looks good for points over the next few, but it's hard to see how Mancini rates him. They have 2 potentially important CL games, before TOT and after AVL so there is always a chance he is rested for one of them. I know he's not been preferred for the CL but he's still their most in form striker (not saying much) and if Mancini has sense he will play him in the big games.
Berbatov has tough fixtures but looks great value. The main problem is who to downgrade though, I can't see too many options involving ditching your midfield being worth it.
I'd lean towards C to be honest, there's nowt wrong with your current strikeforce and I you have to leave one out, so it may aswell be the one you don't have.

      not madness.....

i am getting rid of Bale this week myself.

In your situation, use the funds to strenghen defence. Jevans/Rafael/Sagna

i have owned him twice.....made the same mistake as you in GW3. However i just think TOT are out of sorts and have poor fixtures in the next 2.

imo Fellaini & Rafael will out score Bale and any of his defenders. in the next 3 gw

I have McAnuff and Ba today as well. I went McA ahead of Sterling so hoping Sterling does feck all if Ba starts and if he doesn't I want a hatrick 🙂

Thoughts on hazard and demel to Fellaini and Rafael.

    Current squad is:

    Begovic foster

    Baines caulker demel cuellar Cameron

    Hazard mata bale sterling kightly

    Rvp berba ba

With 0 in the bank. It would be for a hit but I can see Rafael rising this week.

How many of you are sticking with Pienaar? Like a lot of you, I've considered getting Ramirez/Lallana. It'd be for a hit, which makes me want to save it for another time. Only player I'd take a hit for for next week is Ba.

I'm rather stuck with my team at the moment, a lot of deadwood and so many transfers needed.

    Begovic, Foster
    Baines, Riise, Saylor, Clyne, Nelsen
Hazard, Cazorla, Michu, Pienaar, Puncheon (lol)
    RVP, Ba, Berbatov

This week I'n thinking of bringing in two Reading players, Gorkks for Riise (what a shocking kneejerk that was) and McAnuff for Puncheon. Need to get rid of Saylor too - swap him for a nailed on Newcastle defender or are there better options? What do I do with Pienaar? The rest I'm pretty happy with
