The Stock Check

The Stock Check – Gameweek 10 – Saturday Part Two

City’s unbeaten run stretches to 10 games but their toils in front of goal continue, with a goalless draw at Upton Park. Sergio Aguero is handed a sub role yet again, while Andy Carroll draws yet another blank for the hosts:

On the Up

City Defence
This evening’s goalless draw maintained the champions’ recent upturn in defensive resilience. It’s three clean sheets and just one goal conceded in the last four Gameweeks now for Roberto Mancini’s men – the likes of Chelsea and United have one clean sheet apiece in the last six, by comparison.

West Ham Defence
A first clean sheet in six was just rewards for the home side’s resilient efforts. Sam Allardyce will be buoyed by his team’s ability to nullify City’s threat but with Guy Demel still sidelined and James Tomkins missing out through injury, the Hammers boss will be hoping James Collins can shake off a knock which forced him off towards the end, given their upcoming schedule.

Going Down

Sergio Aguero
With a vital Champions League game against Ajax in midweek, Aguero was benched yet again for this evening’s trip to Upton Park. Roberto Mancini started with three of his four forwards and while the Argentine was afforded some game time late on, he has now been omitted from the City first XI in three of the past four Gameweeks – despite his obvious capabilities, Aguero has simply become far too frustrating a Fantasy option right now, with his manager’s up front rotation dramatically curtailing his appeal.

Andy Carroll
His loan move to West Ham, which saw the towering centre-forward reunited with Sam Allardyce, was hailed as the perfect fit. The Hammers’ tactics seemed tailor-made for Carroll, with delivery from wide guaranteed to create chances aplenty in the air but it hasn’t quite transpired as Allardyce would have hoped. Another blank today means Carroll has just one assist in six appearances since making his way to Upton Park.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

RVP apart, I can't really see where bonuses will come from this week. Anyone see the West Ham and Wigan games? Nolan and Maloney for bonus points possibly?

GKs and back line seems fine. Only reasonable transfer would be to bring in City cover. Tevez in for Ba and Nolan out for 5.5 mid (Taraabt, Knightly, Sterling, McAnuff).

    Rooney + Ba

    or

    RVP + Crouch

And can I afford to wait until after the next two (away) fixtures to get in my man utd striker, or take a 4/8pt hit to get him in this week or next.

I'm leaning towards option one, as Ba is a great rotating captaincy option with man utd over the next few weeks, and I would never captain Crouch. Also thinking of holding off the man utd striker until the QPR game. This would allow me to play Suarez at home to Wigan before shipping

Simple one, forget the 0.3 difference; Rafael or Evans?
Rafael 2 goals and 2 assists and is one of, if not the, most attacking defenders in the league. Massively improved this season and has been getting all the praise from Fergie, but a few mess ups and he could find himself benched?
Evans is solid, has a strange goal threat but not as much as Rafael ofc. Vidic out for a while now and Rio nweding a rest probably means Smalling/Jones will fill in for Ferdinand when needed, whilst playing CL and giving Evans and Rafael the odd rest..
Who do you think will score more points?

Would be great to get some more opinions:

    Choose an option:
1 bale to fellaini for a 4 point hit
2 Walters to fellaini for a 4 point hit (Walters fixtures much better than bale, but he is Walters after all…)
    3 bringing fellaini isn’t worth a hit.

I know they've had injuries but don't have a clue as to the pecking order.

How nailed on is Williamson? If he starts today, does this become more nailed on?

I must be sure on this before getting him. A 4.3 def is a pain to transfer out.

Not sure if Pienaar is worth keeping. He looks much less of an attacking threat especially the way Mirallas is playing. And he made a big mistake in chopping the dreds off. Is it time to sell?

I had a look at your team and indeed you don't have anyone else to sell if you want Fellaini. Although it doesn't feel right to sell Pienaar before such nice fixtures, in your case, if it is a FT, Pienaar -> Fellaini looks good. Unless you thought of bringing sb else in?

I did Lowton > Cameron last night. Happy to keep Pienaar for the next 3 fixtures. I know if I get Fellaini he will pick up that 5th booking and turn the plan to shit. Noone I definitely want in place of Pienaar. Just a bit concerned with his poor returns.

I'd stick then. For what it's worth, I'm doing the same (have Pienaar and Baines).

Morning Gents, Sunday league football is called off for bad weather so what else to do but waste more hours on here to the girlfriends disappointment.

What's the word on Mata, has anything else been released which would give us a good idea on how long he's likely to be out for?

Hi guys been looking at the least destructive way to bring RVP back into Team.

How does this look Saylor, Baines, Tevez out - RVP, Clichey, Simpson IN. 8 pt hit mind.

Theres ways I can bring RVP in with just the one hit but dont really want to lose rest of team.

    Schwarzer, Begovic
    Taylor, Baines, Cuellar, Fonte, Raphael
    Kightly, Matta, Sterling, Bale, Carzola
    Suarez, Tevez, Berbatov.

    Any other stunning ideas?

Thoughts on whether to get rid of Nolan or not? I have a maximum of 7.0 to spend on a replacement...

Front 8 at the moment is...

    Bale Michu Pienaar Nolan Kebe
    RVP Tevz Ba

May be Nolan > Sterling so that you can do Pienaar > Valencia?
