The ScoutCast – Episode Eighty Eight – The Manchurian

Granville may well be exotic but he’s not Manchurian, despite what the spellcheck told me a few weeks back. He’s also a happy man. Winning on all fronts, he’s dishing out “one helluva beating” to yours truly right now.

Reveling in his position of power, the Hungarian Mancunian brings me to task on my jerky knee transfers, with the regular ScoutCast favourites scattered around that particular discussion.

Get your ears around our foreign tongues via this link or stream the nonsense through the player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

              Two seasons:
Hot : Daily highs over 100 (37.7) from mid-June to mid-October. Usually hit a couple of stretches where we hit over 110 (43.3) for several days to a week in a row. Dry as a bone during that time with humidities in 10-20% range. Occasional late afternoon thunderstorms in Aug-Sept.

Beautiful : The rest of the year. Daytimes always hit at least 70's (21.1) and overnights typically not below 40 (4.4). Once a year it might dip below freezing at night and damage the citrus trees and some of the other shrubs.

If you can stand the heat, there's nothing like it.

California more humid, more shore-effect weather. Higher prices (ridiculously so if you want to live in San Diego or San Francisco). More crowded.

Texas more red-necks and actually get snow in Dallas, hurricanes and humidity on the gulf cities is ridiculous.

New Mexico's largest city is Albuquerque, which is pretty nice, but still too small to get big-city amenities like Phoenix does (5 million or so in metropolitan area)

Nevada has nothing civilized outside of Las Vegas, and I lived there for a while, so I'm not sure I'd call it civilized. Great place for a weekend, but would never want to raise a family there. Weather is similar though. Just a touch cooler through the summer.

So, no, similar, but not really the same.

Sounds almost exactly like Australia. There's only humidity in the tropics and at the coast, the rest is bone dry 🙂

Almost all the Aussie cities are on the coast though. Melbourne has low humidity but it does get very cold in winter.

Cazorla, so that I can have all the points he scores to myself. I'm selfish that way.

No, but seriously, I think he is probably the one to move, much as I don't want to have to do it myself.

Staylor, Newcastle a wee bit banged up and Michu is playing up front. Demel no t match fit yet, had ~30 mins last week.

And the clincher, Newcastle last CS was Sep 23rd. (not counting Club Brugge in Europa)

Have been getting caned by Fellaini in my mini-league, opted for Pienaar instead over price about 6 weeks back and boy am I rueing that choice....
The rest of them have managed to hit a god awful run of form all at the same time.....
    Any suggestions this week guys.....

    Mignolet (Hart)

Sagna, Baines, Hughes (Davies & Caulker)

    Carzola, Hazard, Macanuff, Sterling (Pienaar)

    Ba, Berbatov & Tevez

1.3m in the bank and 1 FT this week and am thinking should maybe just leave alone....make 2 next week?
Other options are Hart out for Krul even though I wouldn't play him this week which frees up the cash for Silva in, Pienaar out.....?Then who do I bench, Stirling or Macanuff....?

Love Silva & Valencia so good options.
Walcott just seems so inconsistent with injuries he worries me...was thinking more Giroud for Arsenal cover if I get rid of Caz?
Have pretty much made my mind up to ship out Pienaar just don't know whether to wait as they have Norwich at home next week....
Macanuff, Sterling or Pienaar to bench this week if I keep it the same....?

Agree with this. Plus you have a lot of cash tied up in your benched (at home to AVL???) keeper who's been not very productive this year, playing behind a shaky looking defence and who's starting to look a bit shaky himself. I'd ship him out for someone like Begovic or Krul and use that extra cash somewhere else.

asked earlier that cazorla or bale to david silva.. most of them said cazorla..only 1 or 2 said bale... should i really ship out one of them or should i save the transfer this week???

honestly have no idea.. as both of them are quality players.

Interesting that you guys (Granville & Mark) think Van Persie is more important than Tevez... based on what?

History shows Tevez is elite. Silva is the differential though, you were right about that.

Team is coming together now. Time to cut a few of the highly owned templaters for some healthy differentials with fixtures and form to push up the ranks (hopefully). I'm switching from 4 rotating attackers to 3 good value and suarez. Too early for silly risks imo so its still fairly safe. Biggest risk is probably ignoring afro in favour of walcott but i think theo will outdo him even in the next 2 games. Afro, michu, hazard, tevez and ba are the ones that could hurt me with their potential for explosive returns and massive ownerships. Would appreciate to hear thoughts on this. I'm on an archaeic phone so i gotta hit post then i'll post the team 🙂

    Yet another benching dillema

Last week's decision to play Lambert turned out to be good, so here I am seeking advice:

    Who would you bench?

    Lambert (qpr)
    Oscar (wba)
    Pienaar (rdg)
    Michu (new)

All have away matches, I'm currently benching Michu, but the fact that he might be playing 'in the hole' again makes me indecisive.

    Cheers! 😀

So I am in a 10 team draft league that uses the points of FPL to score.
    2 gk's, 5 def's 5 mid's 4 fwd's.
Having a dilemma with my team, not sure how to fit Rafael in to my team this week, or if I even should.

    Provisional Lineup:
    De Gea
    Maicon Reid Riise
    Silva Cazorla Michu Ramirez
    Dzeko Ba Giroud

    Fletcher Rafael Young Caulker Friedel
    Advice welcomed, thanks guys!!

Do we reckon Santi will drop in price come Saturday? Like many on here, I'm hovering over a Santi -> Silva free transfer this week, and I'm trying to justify it to myself in as many ways as possible! 🙂

I'm not sure you should rush to do that. Silva is a good pick. Very consistent but it's not clear yet which of those two will be more successful. I'd roll over the trade and reasses next week for 2 reasons. London derby should have a few goals in it. Silva rarely gets explosive double figure scores so he's unlikely to hurt you much if at all this week. I fancy a santi special this week
