Preview Movie – Rate My Team – Part Two

Our second preview movie of the Rate My Team tool, arriving soon in the members area, gets to the juicy bit. In this movie you’ll see how Rate My Team can help you analyse your existing Fantasy Premier League squad, provide you with roadmap for your team selections and captain choices, and allow you to model a new squad for your January Wildcard.

Chris Atkinson, the creator of the Rate My Team model, again joins me for this movie, be sure to check out our first effort here for some further background on Rate My Team.

What is Rate My Team?
Rate My team is a statistical model built specifically to assess every player in the Premier League and return their expected values for Fantasy Premier League (FPL) points in a given Gameweek. The system is a complex and thorough one which, of course, plots the probabilities of a player’s time on the pitch, their expected number of goals, assists, bonus points, yellow and red cards, clean sheets, own goals, goals conceded and saves. The strength of the opponent they are facing in a given Gameweek is also crucial; so every team has a attacking, defensive rating, every player a probability of playing a given match with injuries, suspensions and international absence factored in.

You can find out more about Rate My Team here, or, of course, in the movie below.

How Can It Help Me?
If you’re a member you can use the Rate My Team tool in a number of ways. Firstly, you can use it as a projections tool to predict what specific players will score, on average, over the next X number of Gameweeks. As you would have seen in our first movie, you have a players table that can filtered by position or FPL cost and which can be extended to show any number of Gameweeks. You can also sort on “Value” to find those players projected to offer the best points per million return.

However, this is just one part of the functionality. Rate My Team can also analyse your existing FPL lineup, recommend captains, vice captains your bench and bench order and allow you to model your future transfers. You’ll see this at play in the movie below, as I tinker with my replacement for Marouane Fellaini and scrap my squad to start building my January Wildcard selection.

When will Rate My Team be available?
We’re looking to roll out the Rate My Team tool for our members on January 1.

Gibbs is way more attacking than Bac; plus Gibbs' spot is a bit more secure.

Jenks is a threat to Sagna; I even think that Jenks will play in one of the DGW matches.

      Gibbs is injury-prone though.

As regards your predicament, I very much like the Tevez > Podolski for a hit move. It's leftfield but not too risky, those are the best ones.

Only problem is it may limit your from getting an Ars defender or Caz/Theo for the DGW.

I'm waiting one week (day) to make that transfer (b).

Sterling could easily pick up an assist on Sunday, meaning Walcott needs to score twice to make it worthwhile. Of course that is entirely possible (even a hatrick) but I'm not convinced. Even with 'Toons diminished squad I reckon they'll put up a fight against Arsenal.

That would explain the 'Gorkss - season keeper' comments then.

So I should put off the Aguero -> Berba/Anybody, please! hit until next gw then 🙂

Podolski cheaper and in the better FPL form believe it or not.

I think Pod allows you to go with Wally or Caz and get Sagna for defensive cover. Pod is underrated in the extreme.

I'm going for both (without Cazorla) and ditching Suarez unless he scores nine goals on Sunday.

Also bringing in Gibbs & Noble to add to Lord Demel (don't ask)
