The Weekend Team News

John Terry returns for Chelsea ahead of the double Gameweek, though Rafa Benitez confirmed earlier that while the defender is in the squad, he will not start tomorrow’s game at Stoke. Petr Cech will travel with the squad to Stoke and will be assessed prior to the Britannia clash, while Benitez also revealed Demba Ba had a hamstring niggle in midweek and Fernando Torres was suffering from a stomach bug but both forwards are fully-fit once again:

Sergio Aguero is ruled out of City’s trip to Arsenal but could return in time for next weekend’s home clash with Fulham. David Moyes expects Leighton Baines to recover from an ankle problem in time for tomorrow’s home game with Swansea, though is continuing to monitor the left-back’s progress.

Nani and Anderson are back for United but Wayne Rooney remains on the sidelines as the league leaders welcome Liverpool to Old Trafford. Rooney could, however, return in time for next Wednesday’s FA Cup replay with West Ham. Aston Villa will be without Darren Bent, Marc Albrighton and Chris Herd for the visit of Southampton – Ron Vlaar has returned to training but Paul Lambert is wary of selecting him, due to a number of weeks on the sidelines.

Carlos Cuellar and Danny Rose are both sidelined with hamstring injuries for Sunderland, while Stephane Sessegnon should shrug off an ankle problem ahead of West Ham’s visit to the Stadium of Light. Martin Jol has ruled out Kerim Frei and Momo Diarra, while Steve Sidwell is a doubt for the Cottagers’ home game with Wigan.

We’ve collected all this in our team news section and added our current predicted lineups ahead of the weekend’s fixtures. You can keep in touch with the very latest via our twitter feed as always.

Who's the better pick for the DGW?
    A) Shaw - young (could get a rest with Fox a decent replacement)
    B) Clyne - returning from injury, but greater attacking threat

Clyne - attacking threat and you'll need any assist/goal you can get from Southamptom defender to compensate for the spanking they'll get against Chelsea.

Moses has gone to the AFCON. So he's rotating with Mata, Oscar and Marin.

I don't see Marin getting too much game time so not too much rotation. In any case, Oscar will probably be the first out, so I think Hazard's good to go!

Not too many guys are after him. Despite the double, his price has dropped 0.1 this week! I think he'll be a fantastic differential.

Who's more nailed on for both games Luiz or Ba? Or who's the better choice for the armband? I feel CFC should definitely get at least one clean sheet. Whilst Ba may noty start against Saints, (despite scoring two past them in the cup)

Id say he has less considering the wealth of talent Chelsea have. Torres is upset and misfiring, Ba is pretty fresh and has already found the back of the net. Common sense says Ba will play both games, but with rafa you never know

There is no discussion. Mata is the best footballer in the league and essential i.m.o going forward, not least this week where he has two matches scheduled.

Ba will get his minutes and get his goals, but Torres won't be 2nd fiddle to him.

Many have both, but Mata over Ba anyday if you have to.

      I am going without him.

My front 3 is Suarez - RVP - Berbatov, why change it for one away trip to Stoke? Doubt Ba will play against Southampton if Benitez rotates, he'll want to save him for Arsenal.

I could do Suarez to Ba on my wildcard and bring Suarez back next week but would prefer to keep that free transfer for Azpilicueta to Gibbs.

    Hi guys,

On a WC, any changes needed?

    Turnbull (Begovic)
    Gibbs, Shaw, Demel (Mariappa, Davies)
    Mata(c), Michu, Bale, Fellaini, Walcott
    RVP, Ba (Suarez)

    Turnbull out for Federici?

Next week – Ba & Mariappa out for Ruiz & Evra.

    cheers

what you think of this im on wildcard want sunderland defender/GK - begovic to mignolet and get a stoke defender like cameron? You think its okay begovic is worth 5.1 to me, No other sunderland defender is nailed on injured etc

You sure you want Sunderland defence while they've got so many 1st team ayers out injured? Might be worth waiting a week or 2 first?

Is Noble worth bringing in for the next DGW? It's either him or someone like Puncheon who is keep as bench material...

Fletcher has the fixtures over him at the moment though, so you could argue for either.

Suarez > Ba (-4). DGW madness?

His fixtures are awful and Sturridge makes his position unclear. The only game I'd keep him for is next week against Norwich, but I may well want Podolski/Giroud in for him for that DGW anyway.

I wouldn't for -4. He is second highest score in entire FPL game and world class. Ba may only play against Stoke. Norwich as you mentioned next week.

United back four shaky in last few months. Unless you will keep Ba for the very long term and believe he will outscore or provide better value than Suarez at a 1.5m savings, I would not for a hit.

Sturridge won't start at Old Trafford.

I think its a more than sensible move, suarez has scored highly yes, but most of the time against against weak opposition, bitch him for ba and get podolski week after.

        Against weak opposition? HA.

He scored at Everton in a derby, at Chelsea, and against Manchester City this season.

He's been absolutely on fire this season, not sure if we can project the same returns with Sturridge set to grab his CF position though, and looks to me like Liverpool might set up defensively at OT.

I'm wildcarding after the DGWs anyway so Ba hanging in my team for another GW is not too much of a worry for me.

As I said I may well not keep Suarez against Norwich because I'd be looking to get in Podolski or Giroud.
