The Big Numbers – Gameweek 22

West Brom’s Romelu Lukaku heads up our ICT Index rankings after a weekend of football, with Wigan’s Franco Di Santo an unlikely name to keep Robin Van Persie company in our top three. Our members can investigate these standings in full, digesting all the data from the weekend’s action. Big Numbers makes a return to pick out our take on the key statistics on show, together with an array of trends that have emerged over the past four Gameweeks…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Bale > Cazorla for no hit, just for the DGW?

Can easily get Bale back in the following GW, and I really don't fancy Podolski.

Yeah he hasn't exactly been on fire, but I remember him scoring a cracker against West Ham earlier in the season and he is nailed on for 180mins.

Just hope Bale doesn't run riot against United again...

"Bale revelled in the open spaces that opened up between Paul Scholes and Rio Ferdinand, with the former looking all of his 37 years at times during a below-par first-half display.

When Robin van Persie lost possession on the edge of the Tottenham area, Mousa Dembele thundered upfield with a purpose that left Scholes looking like he was treading water."

Notice that on both occasions Scholes ain't helping the cause...

I hope so, just checked the report from the game at Old Trafford and we started Giggs AND Scholes?! WTH! No wonder Bale ran riot. Won't happen again.

I might now actually ditch him for said Santi 😉 and draft him back in.

They let 13 in their last 8 for about 1.63 per game. Plus there were two 4-3's in there. One a loss to City, the other a win against the Swans.

Fair enough, I was just thinking of their results against the 'big' clubs. (Not sure if Liverpool count as one of them anymore, but that's for another day 😉 )

They had clean sheets against Arsenal/United and only let in 1 against Chelsea.

    I currently have:

    federici, szczesny
    gibbs, zabaleta, luiz, bassong, demel
    walcott, fellaini, michu, taarabt, mata
    suarez, ruiz, lambert

I think that will see me through gw23, with a view to doing something like luiz--> wilson, ruiz--> dzeko. I could probably do with someone that will play week in, week out though... fletcher?

Luiz>Wilson is a good move as 2 big hitting defenders are more than enough. Maybe upgrade Ruiz to Defoe or Lukaku for a punt.

Cool. Evans has surprisingly good attacking threat. He's much more of a beast than you'd expect from corners, given he isn't that big. Rafael looks like an assist magnet to me from crosses.

Found myself up late and watching it, congrats. Very casual NFL watcher but was lucky enough to see the BAL - DEN madness yesterday.

Just to say props for the Swansea predictions, all came true and I'm glad I benched Michu that game. What I didn't count on from your lot was a CS - got burnt by Davies on the bench.

So, do you see the defence remaining so solid? Davies looks hard to ignore in the WC (curses upon you Optimus). In the medium-term, should I be wary of owning Michu if Swans are going to get fixture congestion with the double cup runs?

I'd bench Michu for the Stoke game too, the Chelsea game follows that. Yes I would be wary of owning him whilst we are in the cups, they are deffo Laudrup's priority.

The defence has improved, quite a bit of early disruption with injuries & suspensions. Davies is a gem but all of us had to bench him away to Everton. Keep him we'll be good for a few home cleanies.

        Glad you listened - a lot didn't 😉

Cheers, I'm more aware of getting outside opinions nowadays because I've been coming on FFS less and thus the groupthink has become a bit more obvious! Always like to ask those who have extra knowledge about their teams.

Will be considering Michu on the bench, though it won't be as clear cut as last week.

I see no long-term place for Walcott in my team but only have Gibbs for the DGW. Is Caz a better bet - less rotation risk?

And should I trade Bale (get him back after ManU) or take a hit and downgrade Ba?

    Thanks for any ideas 🙂

You know when to stop and don't spam our boards nonstop. Most importantly, you don't write english essays on every page about how great the players you own are and how bad everyone else's are, because you don't give enough a sh*t about it, like the rest of us. Unfortunately, he does.

The best one-line summary I read of santiagounreal was "you claim to have an english degree, but you write like an insecure 15 year old"

I'll also be looking at Baines rather sceptically having had him almost half the season. Not because his stats aren't great, but because they seem to never convert his crosses and I've been burnt by Everton defensive form.

Mata/Walcott were locks for me because of the double. Fellaini for value. Bale because I think he has the highest ceiling of any midfield player. And finally Nolan as a double gameweek punt. He won't be sticking around.

I did mine for this GW but 4 of the 5 that everyone seems to have picked (dropped Michu) and Noble for the double this week and easy bench fodder most other weeks as I still prefer playing 3-4-3.

      Mich * Mata * Fellaini * Walcott * Bale

Wanted Fellaini in but didnt want to lose Michu or value on hin going out and in went RVP Ruiz Ba benched Michuthink ill stick 352 rotate 2nd striker based on fixtures and upgrade to at least one big hitting defender possibly Baines.
