The FFS Paddy Power Cup – Wild Rover Claims Glory

Our congratulations go to Wild Rover after he clinched victory in the Fantasy Football Scout Paddy Power Cup Final last night, following an 87-75 win over Mile High. The double Gameweek 23 proved a fitting backdrop to their head-to-head, with that winning margin ultimately coming down to each player’s choice of Arsenal and West Ham coverage in the final match of the Gameweek at the Emirates on Wednesday evening:

While both finalists handed Theo Walcott the armband and also had Kieran Gibbs and Guy Demel in their ranks, Wild Rover’s midfield proved decisive. Joe Cole and Santi Cazorla both returned double figure hauls, while Mile High received just four points from the Hammers’ Mark Noble, with Jussi Jaaskelainen and Bacary Sagna chipping in with three points apiece at the back. Wild Rover’s five double Gameweek players produced 63 points, then, compared to Mile High’s 51 from six – a 12 point gap which proved the difference between their Gameweek scores, despite our new champion taking a four point hit for the occasion.

The Final

1Wild rover87 – 75MileHigh

Third Place Play-off

2ange1range175 – 94Mr.KK

Wild Rover now joins donnellyc, Jonty, Goonerdave, Ninja_Fit_Saints, sleepingmaster and previous champion Mch in our hall of fame and will now gain automatic qualification to the Fantasy Football Scout Paddy Power Cup from this point on.

Along with the virtual silverware, Wild Rover also receives £100 worth of free bets with Paddy Power and £100 in Amazon vouchers, while Mile High gets his hands on £50 worth of free bets and £50 in Amazon vouchers. Mr KK receives £50 worth of free bets and £25 Amazon vouchers – he saw off ange1range1 94-75 to take third spot.

All our Quarter-Finalists from this year’s Fantasy Football Scout Cup also go into the first FFS Shield tournament, running over the final four Gameweeks of the season where they will face off against the eight Quarter-Finalists from the Members Cup, due to start very soon.

If you’re a member, keep checking back for details on how to get your name in the hat for the qualifying round. If you’re not a member and want the chance to take part, this page will let you know how to upgrade or register a member account.

Not sure about Podolski in your WCT. He's probably had his haul for a while and will do little over the next few gw's. I would rather have Fletch and invest a little more in defence.

Luiz to Davies and Dzeko to Aguero for a hit? If Dzeko isn't in the lineup on Tuesday? I'll have about 15 minutes to do it.

In spite of his brace last week, he generally doesn't have enough goal threat for me to consider him over the other big hitting midfield options of Mata, Walcott, Bale and Gerrard. If you decide to go with two big strikers, Aguero is basically competing with Rooney and Suarez, both of whom have teammates who people like as much or better.

Agree with you re Aguero, but I already have Suarez whom I am very reluctant to trade off for Aguero (or anybody else). So looking at Suarez Fletch and RVP with Silva as my Citeh attacking cover. Gerrard is an option, but with Suarez would be overkill

Fair enough. Having Suarez at a discount is nice, but it's hard to pay retail for him when you could have Sturridge for 3 million less.

So Fellaini's going up tonight. 2 home games coming up. I'm on a WC. It would be silly not to have him right?

FWIW he played awfully deep vs Southampton with the introduction of Mirallas and Anichebe. Hoping that was just a switch in tactics due to the game being a boring stalemate but who knows.

This was what I've been thinking/hoping.

WC team would be a terribly predictable:

        DDG Fed
        Nasty Sagna Daws Davies Demel
        POWER 5
        RVP Kun Pog

Watch out for Dawson, you'd probably only get one decent home game out of him before Kaboul is back I'm told.

Very very similar to my current team though so I like it haha:

          DDG Fed
          Gibbs Wilson Mariappa Davies Demel
          POWER 5

I think he's a player that might drop off in the second half of the season. Historically he's had flashes before, but he's never been a big scorer. What with the risk to his position iI think he's likely to regress back to his scoring from previous seasons, although I'm sitting very uncomfortably looking at the next two fixtures.

How about going with what you have there, making no transfers next week, then planning on Fellani + Pog > Sturridge + Gimp in two week time?

    Need advice:

    Cole to Zaba/Nasty/Clichy + Lambert -> Fletcher for a 4 point hit?

If so which of those three city defenders would you get i can afford all, but it may be slightly beneficial to choose between nasty and clichy as the extra 0.4m may come in handy elsewhere

Should I consider somehow getting bale or aguero in this week?

I was expecting a Podolski bandwagon after last night but his NTI is less than 1k today. He doesn't seem to be in may WC team either. Have we seen the best of him? He has, arguably, the best next 4 fixtures of any forward so I'm inclined to keep.

Fletch and Sturridge are in a similar price bracket, but cheaper - and more nailed on.

Me too, Fletch rising but Pod not. Usually the masses rapidly transfer in teh biggest scorer of the week. But it appears that the masses are doing Hazard > Mata instead

Yep don't be put off by the crowd. He's a perfectly dangerous forward to own. I have only one week left before wc so am undecided about keeping for Liverpool who have a very solid defence. But given striker competition right now, next 4 looks good.

Maybe. But he's the 7th highest scoring FWD in the game - higher than Rooney, Berbatov, Aguero, Defoe... Nobody will catch me arguing against Fletcher, I got rid of him for the second time this season and regretted it both times, but you can hardly discount Podolski.
