The Fantasy Flutter with Paddy Power – Gameweek 35

The QPR defence has been letting everyone down this season, so perhaps we shouldn’t have been surprised when the R’s conceded to Stoke and deflated our hopes of a treble victory last weekend. While Luis Suarez and Robin Van Persie delivered their part of the bargain, Harry Redknapp’s rearguard was breached twice and our winnings lost. Elsewhere, Michu, Robert Snodgrass and Romelu Lukaku all fell short, leaving us in Paddy Power’s debt and desperate to claw some funds back with this week’s “flutter”.

Everton are big favourites to skittle over Fulham at Goodison, with Marouane Fellaini earmarked as the likely instigator of their downfall. The Belgian finds a place in the Scout Picks and with Everton keeping four shutouts in the last six, Paddy’s odds of 9/2 on a Fellaini goal with a Toffees clean sheet at home to Fulham looks to have legs. We’ll show caution, however, and put just £2 of our stake money aside for this opening bet.

With 15 goals for the season and four in the last six league outings, there’s little doubt that Christian Benteke looks most likely to derail Paolo Di Canio’s Black Cats revival. Villa’s need for points is by far the greater and we’ve a feeling that this will lead to a narrow home win with perhaps a rare Villa cleanie thrown in. Paddy are offering 11/2 on a Benteke goal with a home clean sheet against Di Canio’s Sunderland and that looks worthy of £3 of our funds.

Jay Rodriguez has emerged as an unlikely end of season Fantasy prospect, even overshadowing the achievements of team-mate Rickie Lambert, who has enjoyed a superb first top flight season. With three goals in his last four starts, the former Burnley striker will go into the home clash with West Brom strongly backed to add to his six-goal season tally. With the Saints conceding just three goals in the last six, Paddy’s odds of 9/2 on a Rodriguez goal with a Southampton clean sheet at home to West Brom look generous enough to temp £4 from our pockets.

That leaves just a single pound to wager on this week’s treble as we focus on Scout Pick Carlos Tevez and near-miss Demba Ba. Paddy are strongly backing both to come good this weekend, presenting 6/1 on a goal for Tevez against West Ham, a strike for Ba against Swansea and a Stoke clean sheet at home to shot-shy Norwich.

If you’re new to Paddy Power, then you can take up any of these odds and get yourself a bonus. You can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register an account and bet a tenner.

Not saying they'll keep a clean sheet for sure but until the end I can definitely see Hart outscoring ddg by 4 points+

Problem with it is: who do you bring in?

Defoe makes little sense given his limited gametime.
Mata's averaging less than 4ppg and has two tough fix.
Wigan players are as unreliable as Auckland's rugby team.
City: only Hart and Tevez appeal here.
Swansea: only Michu and Davies needed.

6 players should be enough imo.

Ridiculous... the best you can realistically hope for (barring a Hart penalty save or assist) is break even. GW35 and still I do not understand the logic some people apply to FPL... just leave that transfer until next week.

If you're taking the hit next week, then it doesn't have to payoff immediately and you'll be better off if Hart outscores DDG this week, which is pretty likely.

          Realistic best case scenario:

          Hart: 6pts
          DDG: 2pts
          Outcome: 0pts gained

          Realistic worst case scenario:

          Hart: 2pts
          DDG: 6pts
          Outcome: -8pts

Just absolutely baffles me some of the transfers people make on this website... it makes no sense whatsoever to do that transfer this GW.

That's not true at all. You have to look beyond one gameweek.

It's actually 4 points gained in the first one and 4 points lost in the second. It's not an extra hit as the hit would've been taken next GW anyway.

Ok, say Hart scores 20 in from GW36 onwards, and DDG say 12.

If you take the hit next week, then you'll be 4 points better off than if you kept DDG. Even if both score 2 this week and you take the hit, it'll be 22(-4) vs 14, whereas if Hart gets more than DDG then you're even further up if you do it this week.

So if you think Hart will outscore DDG this week then do the hit this week.

That logic is so badly flawed it's not funny. Hart *might* outscore DDG this way but, if he does, it's almost certainly only going to be by 4pts. Why even take the risk? Just take the -4pt in GW36, and forget about trying to get ultra lucky this week.

If you're going to take the hit next week anyway, then essentially it's a straight choice between DDG and Hart for this gameweek. And if I had both, I know which I'd play this week....

Each to their own, but how is it flawed? If you think Hart(WHM) will outscore DDG(ars) then by doing the hit this week you'll be better off. I think that's almost certain and if both get 2 then nothing is lost. I cannot see a Utd CS.

I am thinking of DDG to Hart for a -4 hit this week as i also have Bunn but not sure if DDG or bunn will play this week and i think their gametime will be seriously affected between now and the end of the season.
      1. Ruddy is fit and will get gametime soon
      2. Lindegard needs 2 matches to get his premiership medal which this is almost certain to happen.
Hart will play last 5 games and will get more points than the other 2 so a -4 hit doesn't sound to bad and the other risk i have is that neither bunn or DDG will play for me leaving me without a GK for a few of these remaining games.
      What do you guys think?

Captains on Bale now but if I know for sure Walcott playing up top it may sway me to captain him. Against united yes, but I believe against uniteds reserve defense.
