The Fantasy Flutter with Paddy Power – Gameweek 35

The QPR defence has been letting everyone down this season, so perhaps we shouldn’t have been surprised when the R’s conceded to Stoke and deflated our hopes of a treble victory last weekend. While Luis Suarez and Robin Van Persie delivered their part of the bargain, Harry Redknapp’s rearguard was breached twice and our winnings lost. Elsewhere, Michu, Robert Snodgrass and Romelu Lukaku all fell short, leaving us in Paddy Power’s debt and desperate to claw some funds back with this week’s “flutter”.

Everton are big favourites to skittle over Fulham at Goodison, with Marouane Fellaini earmarked as the likely instigator of their downfall. The Belgian finds a place in the Scout Picks and with Everton keeping four shutouts in the last six, Paddy’s odds of 9/2 on a Fellaini goal with a Toffees clean sheet at home to Fulham looks to have legs. We’ll show caution, however, and put just £2 of our stake money aside for this opening bet.

With 15 goals for the season and four in the last six league outings, there’s little doubt that Christian Benteke looks most likely to derail Paolo Di Canio’s Black Cats revival. Villa’s need for points is by far the greater and we’ve a feeling that this will lead to a narrow home win with perhaps a rare Villa cleanie thrown in. Paddy are offering 11/2 on a Benteke goal with a home clean sheet against Di Canio’s Sunderland and that looks worthy of £3 of our funds.

Jay Rodriguez has emerged as an unlikely end of season Fantasy prospect, even overshadowing the achievements of team-mate Rickie Lambert, who has enjoyed a superb first top flight season. With three goals in his last four starts, the former Burnley striker will go into the home clash with West Brom strongly backed to add to his six-goal season tally. With the Saints conceding just three goals in the last six, Paddy’s odds of 9/2 on a Rodriguez goal with a Southampton clean sheet at home to West Brom look generous enough to temp £4 from our pockets.

That leaves just a single pound to wager on this week’s treble as we focus on Scout Pick Carlos Tevez and near-miss Demba Ba. Paddy are strongly backing both to come good this weekend, presenting 6/1 on a goal for Tevez against West Ham, a strike for Ba against Swansea and a Stoke clean sheet at home to shot-shy Norwich.

Register and Bet £10 And Get £20 Free

If you’re new to Paddy Power, then you can take up any of these odds and get yourself a bonus. You can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register an account and bet a tenner.

Finally of course, we should state that all these offers are only available to those aged 18 and over and are subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. Also, if you’re going to bet, always gamble responsibly.

    Who To Bench?!?!

    DDG
Zab - Vert - Baines - Enrique (Clyne?)
    Bale (c) - Mata - Fellani - Michu
    Tevez -RvP - (JRod?)

I really like Saints today, just can't fit them in. I like Enrique v New and RvP v ARS on sentiment alone. Michu will be involved against a tired Chelsea back 4.... Can I really bench JRod and Clyne? I just got screwed benching Clyne for 4 other defenders who matched his score last week :-/

I thought about it, but don't you like Enrique for e clean sheet AND moving forward to add the threat on the flank. Rodgers seems to send him forward when Suarez is out.

Does anyone put any stock in the Ramirez / Rodriquez rotation, or do you think Gaston is the clear backup and it was only due to illness?

Would Chelsea qualify for next seasons Champions League if they win the Europa Cup? Just wondering whether their priority is to win the cup or finish top 4, if winning the Europa gives them an easier CL route.

If you're playing catch up, I'm not convinced doubling up on attack works. Double/triple defence, yes. I'd drop one for Sturr perhaps & strengthen elsewhere.

Ok, my thinking is if city score 3, & LFC score 3, & your on catch up, u gamble on tevez & Sturr hatricks & you've got 6 goals. By doubling on City, you're hedging your bets & sharing the 3 between Kun & Tev.
It's go hard or go home time.

However given the fixtures say city score 2 and LFC score nothing I will get more from Aguero and Tevez than from Sturridge and Tevez

Okay I get what you saying. I agree with you in that sense. (If I had 2 city defenders) I clean sheet will apply to all of them so it makes sense doubling up on defense then doubling up on attack.

Did fellaini play deep last week with osman in the hole or am i mistaken? also, gibson could be out which would defo make fella play deep.. honestly considerin swappin him out for mata for -4 since i already have baines and mirallas to cover everton incase they trash fulham and i got no chelsea coverage

Yeah, it's a lot of cash to spend on a goalkeeper, dilemma is made worse by hart being a guaranteed starter for the DGW and DDG is likely to concede against ars, Chelsea and potentially replaced by lindergard

I think selling RVP maybe the answer as you can use the cash to strengthen other areas and its not like your going to captain him this week or next. So the risk is offset

Am I set for the weekend with correct subs and captain choices? Wondering if I should be playing Clyne.

    Bego
    Mert, Baines, Rafael,
    Mata, Michu, Walcott, Fellaini
    Lambert, RVP (vc), Tevez (C)

    Subs: Jussi, Maloney, Clyne, Pearce

No more FT, and would need an 8 pt hit to bring Bale in. Thanks for all the replies!

In my opinion then, I would take the hit. You have come to far to risk high profile differentials at this stage in the season. I was 50 points ahead in the ML I care about and took a 16 point hit last week to cover the WC of 2nd place.
