With July now upon us, the Pre-Season section of the site is up and running once again as we edge towards the first batch of friendlies. We’ve collated the current summer schedule for all 20 Premier League clubs and also added links to every article referencing the upcoming season, from Moving Targets to Sleepers, Great Expectations to Scout Reports to Fixture Analysis pieces, in addition to a look back at the three promoted sides displays in the previous campaign.
We’ll be updating the Pre-Season section on a daily basis, adding every article upon publication. Each team also has their own “Scout Notes” and “Form Players” sections – we’ll be scouring the friendlies and, as well as rolling out plenty of Scout Scribbles articles to cover the games, will be using this as a handy one-stop-shop for your guide ahead of next month’s kick-off.

10 years, 11 months agoGlad to see that SKY FF have pulled up their socks and upgraded the rules of the game as well as the interface. Of the new additions I like:
- Keeper points for saves
- Live scoring will actually work, hopefully
- Transfers (an additional 10 transfers give you a transfer per week with no limitations on when you use them
I'm not so sure about the option to elect two (C)'s in a given week, I think this will be great for the fantasy football nut (I know, we all are for the most part on here) but it will definitely hurt the more casual gamer who likes to do his team on a Friday night/Saturday morning and leave everybody do their thing that GW.
As it's the first game open this year, I see a fair few people have questions on how it works, I finished just inside the top 100 and I took the following approach:
(1) Even with additional transfers this year I would set your team up for the season - don't pick a team focused on the first 5 fixtures say, pick a team of known starters where possible because you don't have points hits in SKY FF - the extra transfers will be really handy for DGW's, so, build a team that you hope to have until the end of the season for the most part.
(2) I found 3-5-2 formation the most beneficial, the bonus points are weighted heavily in favour of midfielders because the likes of Aretea/Fellaini/Hazard/Mata can easily complete 60+ passes in a game (+2 points) as well as making +4 successful tackles (+2), so, use the Members Section here to look at pass/tackle stats.
(3) Because of the bonus points falling the way they do (more in favour of midfielders), I found spending money on defenders a bit of a waste of time - yes, they get clean sheet points and will get tackle bonus, but, in my view, you are better off paying middle-of-the-range amounts on your defenders. Again, it helps to look at the Members Section here to see how many of the LB's/RB's complete lots of passes and tackle as well as pose a goal threat.
Sorry for the overly-long post, just my initial warbled thoughts.
