The Knee Jerk

The Knee Jerk – Wednesday

Another strong Villa display. Another Christian Benteke goal. This time, however, Paul Lambert’s blossoming side fall short as Branislav Ivanovic is allowed to stay on the pitch to nod home Chelsea’s winner.

The Game Changer

Arguably, referee Kevin Friend was the most influential individual on show. There’s also a strong case for Christian Benteke who struck his third goal of the season and has now scored nine league goals in his last 10 outings. Branislav Ivanovic’s goal proved the difference, however, and rewarded those who invested their double Gameweek funds whilst underlining the goal threat previously on show in Saturday’s win over Hull.

Friend’s decision to brandish a yellow for Ivanovic’s lashing out on Benteke was undoubtedly the turning point. It allowed the Serbian to demonstrate his ability at set-plays as, just minutes later, he headed home Frank Lampard’s dead ball delivery.

Ivanovic was the only Chelsea defender denied Fantasy Premier League (FPL) bonus points from the Hull victory. Despite escaping a red card and being left for dead by Gabby Agbonlahor for Villa’s goal, Ivanovic looks set to earn bonus to make him Chelsea’s top scoring double Gameweek asset.

The Underused

While Benteke will earn huge investment following another goal and effective display, those who are struggling to stretch their funds to the Belgian will be eyeing the impact of Gabby Agbonlahor. So impressive during Villa’s run at the end of last season, he has started the new campaign in stunning form and yet claims less than 2% FPL ownership.

Instrumental in the victory at the Emirates, it was his turn of pace and delivery that set up Benteke for his equaliser. Agbonlahor has scored five goals and earned four assists in his last ten league outings.

The Selection Poser

It’s hardly a poser. Jose Mourinho’s decision to start with Demba Ba and leave Romelu Lukaku shackled on the bench disappointed Fantasy managers and Chelsea fans alike. His introduction for the ineffective Ba on 65 minutes provided little consolation. Lukaku played fewer minutes than any other Chelsea striker in the double Gameweek, having looked primed to start the campaign following a convincing pre-season.

Mourinho’s reluctance to hand Lukaku a central role on the Premier League stage is a puzzle. Perhaps he will start at Old Trafford on Monday and face a defence which he terrified on the final day of last season at the Hawthorns. It’s unlikely to make a difference – Lukaku’s ownership and price look set to slide.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Damn you and your 1 point lead over me Forca! Silva could do well, but equally 4/5 other Citeh players could rob him of pts. If the Toon do anything it will probably be HBA or Cisse getting the points. That said you have to go for Manchester City vs 2 promoted opponents.

          ohh yeah that's tough.

hmm. assuming martins doesn't get called up then definitely him. and traore is a good shout as well. tbh not sure what to say about Rosales. always seems to get taken off early and is quite injury prone as well it seems and sometimes randomly doesn't start (or maybe it's a slight knock that I don't know about) but also has good potential. assuming dempsey and EJ will both be gone with the national team then it's between rosales and (dare I say it) neagle imo. hard to say which of those two is the better choice

Exactly why I only mentioned the Arsenal game.

Soldado would have had an assist if siggy didn't side foot just wide and was unlucky not to nick another one on the one through ball that Lennon actually hit properly. Soldado v Sturridge for the 3rd spot in the ideal front 3 is a very close call after only one GW is all im saying

sure other changes would probably have netted me more points (starting shaw, or getting a different striker instead of benteke, or using the extra .5 to get mig instead of foster) but the one I would make is I would've followed my rotation spreadsheet and started Boruc over Foster as i'm generally happy with my team and my decisions this week but this is a realistic change that I strongly considered

was debating Benteke over Sturridge for a long long time, but went with Sturridge in the end, would have been an extra 12pts. Also the Migs + Coleman over Toure and Szczesny almost happened, but hey what can you do now?

Want to Kick Lukaku but for who ??????

The major problem of most of the fantasy
players , is to find replacement for Lukaku
( ofcourse could change today if he scores hatty
    against villa ).

    Option 1 : Lukaku ➡ Dzeko

Risky Punt , Not nailed on but nice stats also
    fixtures.

My Opinion : If you fancy to take a risk with those
favourable fixtures then go for it, but I will not go
for it simple because he is more of a rotation
    threat.

    Option 2 : Lukaku ➡ Bony

Unfavourable fixtures but a solid player which he
will prove in this season and main man ahead of
    Michu.

My Opinion : He is nailed on 100 % for sure (after GW 4) and
can grab goals and assists , the only downside is
fixtures for next 4-5 gws.If you want to risk him, could be a worthy punt.

    Option 3 : Lukaku ➡ Giroud (8.5M)

Fantastic Pre-Season form and player also, and
no rotation threat. Somewhat good fixtures if
there players are in form and are not injured.

My Opinion : He is worth a punt and can be a top
scorer in 2-3 gameweeks , but there backline is
full of injured players so he may like Rooney
midplay style. He is 0.5 more so may require
Hits , I don't like this route if you have Walcott
but if you dont have Walcott go for him.

    Option 4 : Lukaku ➡ RVW

100% nailed on with favourable fixtures and a
    set-piece players. Strong header player.

My Opinion : He is cheaper also and worth a punt
to go for 3-4 weeks and he.can be a penalty
player. Worth a go , the only downside can his
team create chances for him ????? Maybe.
If you think Norwich can create chances this
    season , Go for it.

    Option 5: Lukaku ➡ Soldado (9.0)

Beautiful Fixtures , a solid player and mainly he is
on penalty duties. Also no rotation threat

My Opinion : Go for it !!!!!!!!!!!
You may require Hits to bring him but he is worth
    it.

    Option 6: Lukaku ➡ Lambert

He is a Bonus Magnet Player, on penalty duties
and also on set-pieces. Favorable fixtures for 4-5
    weeks

My Opinion: I am personally going for this route.
Thou the new signing player Osvaldo may tamper
with him but from my resources and knowledge
point he will threat for Rodriguez rather than
    Lambert.
You may still say he is threat or not nailed on ,
but ask yourself a question if you are a manager
will you drop him ??? and even if he drops I dun't
think he will not start next match.

    Option 7 : Lukaku ➡ Sturridge (9.0)

Strong Pre-Season and a gold fantasy player.
Strong Fixtures and nailed on player.

My Opinion: Go for it !!!!!!
The only downside is -4 point hit. But if you have
Coutinho I may not go for it. But wound't hurt to
    double.

    Option 8 : Lukaku ➡ RvP / Aguero (14/11 M)

Quality players nailed on 100 %. Aguero may not
but he will start every game more than 60 mins.

My Opinion: Go for it !!!!!!!!
If you are in Wildcard now.

    Option 9: Lukaku ➡ Berbatov

Fixtures are somewhat ok not that great, also his consistency is a bit of problem.

My Opinion : Avoid him for now !!!!

    Options 9 : Lukaku ➡ Anelka

Not bad fixtures but not too good also. He is now in thirties age , so who knows will he scores or not. Also Vydra in threat with his position.

    My Opinion: Avoid him !!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ------------------------------------------Verdict-----------------------------------------------

Lukaku ➡ Lambert is thee best option if you can
go for it. If you have already triple on SoT , then
RvW or a long term punt Bony.

If you are in WC , go for Rvp mostly bu fancy a punt go for Aguero or both (can affect other areas of def and mids).

Thou he is not at 7.9M , some transfers will be difficult but best to go for Lambert or you want Man City and fancy a risk then Dzeko.
