The ScoutCast – Episode 111 – Bung

There are no brown envelopes in sight; this “bung” is firmly placed in my nasal passages as I clamber from my man-flu grief pit to sit alongside Granville and take my Gameweek medicine. After seeing me off by 21 points, it’s only fair I gave my co-host his moment of glory, regardless of being short of match fitness.

Somehow we end up arguing about Robin van Persie once again, before taking a gander at the bandwagons rolling and preview the weekend’s action the only way we know how: by rambling endlessly and singling out some dubious player picks along the way.

Get your repeat prescription via this link or cure your ailments via the easy to swallow player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    So amidst all the bullshit what transfers are actually likely to go through before Tuesday?

    Probable ones, it seems:

    Bale -> Real Madrid
    Fellaini & Baines -> Man Utd
    Evra -> Monaco
    A WIlliams -> Arsenal

    Any others?

      No. He's having a lot of shots and involvement, but not the furthest forward. Most shots are from outside box

        What formation are they playing then and what is Ross's role?

        Just that an Everton season ticket holder in work said that he is "in the hole"

          4-3-3. He's playing as a classic central midfielder with attacking duties, like Lampard and Gerrard back in the day.

      I've seen this suggested but from watching Everton play he definitely isn't. Doesn't get into the penalty box.

      He had a stonking season in 2008, was their player of the season IIRC

      He's never been much of an 'assister' or scroer, but he may do well under the new BAP system, I'm keeping an eye, depeding upon what price he comes in at

      Speaking of which, seeing as he may play this weekend, I assume they'll add him today??

      Zab was pretty bad against Cardiff then again they're playing at home to hull and be may just sneak in a goal or assist on top of a clean sheet so might be worth the hit.

    Have Kun. Invested in him, believed in him and now it's time for that 11.0 to pay off with the C.

    If Dzeko outscores him I might just say to hell with rotation, Dzeko's cheap and does nothing but score goals.

    Aguero is miles better, on pens, gets set piece, is 10x faster surely, surely he will outscore Dzeko or Negrado.

      Dzeko might outscore him, but he's much more risky. I'd go Aguero in a heartbeat if I had him, best captain choice this GW out of all.

      Aguero is not 10 x faxter than Dzeko. Dzeko is deceptively fast.

    Would have thought Kolo Toure would have fallen in price by now, guess it makes sense to hold on to him otherwise I'd have to take a hit.

    But I do want to replace Koren as he's useless to me without his set pieces and I'd have to play him against City at Etihad... Whittinham (Everton at home) for a hit and longish term replacement?

    So amidst all the nonsense what transfers are actually likely to go through before Tuesday?

    Probable ones, it seems:

    Bale -> Real Madrid
    Fellaini & Baines -> Man Utd
    Evra -> Monaco
    A Williams -> Arsenal

    Any others?

    Rumour has it that Shay Given may sign for Liverpool. That's going to be an interesting problem.

    He is the eighth most popular goalkeeper so presumably a lot of people will have Mignolet as well. I think I am right in saying that after one GW Given will count against your total Liverpool players and you would need to make a transfer if you already had three.

    Aside from that, you would be a bit restricted on Liverpool's other options if you ended up with two Liverpool goalkeepers in your side.

        What a pain in the bum if you have to use a sub on a non-playing goalkeeper. Ouch.

      I prefer Sturridge/5.5. I'm not totally sure what City's centre back situation will be but I think Nastastic will oust Lescott when Kompany is fit.

    If you're not Captaining him, does it really matter that Dzeko might be rotated? He's scored exactly 14 goals and 6 assists in both of the last two seasons and he did it in roughly half the time afforded to Berbatov and Lambert.

    If he plays, say. even 30% more minutes or Man City score 30% more goals than last year (both of which are realistic), he'll more than justify his price irrespective of whether he starts.

      that is true but if the likes of aguero are nailed on you can get a viable (c) choice for every week as well..

      I think, barring injuries, he'll struggle to match last year's minutes much less exceed them. I think Negredo will be first choice eventually. If you're right and he does get solid minutes, you're right, he could be a great option and he's certainly played well enough in the first two weeks to earn more minutes. The no captaining thing is also a major problem when Sturridge/Soldado/Giroud/Benteke all look so solid for only 1-2 million more.
