FFS Cup

FFS Paddy Power Cup – A Reminder

As the hours tick down until the Gameweek 11 deadline, we’re rolling out a final heads-up on the eighth Fantasy Football Scout Cup, sponsored by Paddy Power. Free-to-enter, the qualifying round is set to take place this weekend, so if you fancy your chances of joining previous winners donnellyc, Jonty, Goonerdave, Ninja_Fit_Saints, sleepingmaster, Mch and reigning champion Wild Rover in our hall of fame, read on for more details:

Seasoned veterans can click here to submit their entry, though if you’re new to the process, here’s a little more information:

What is the Paddy Power Cup?

The Paddy Power Cup is our version of the Fantasy Premier League’s Fantasy Cup game. Entrants who qualify for the first round will be randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that Gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores). In the event of a tie, the Manager highest in the overall standing will progress.

When does it start?

The qualifying round will take place in Gameweek 11 but you can enter after the Gameweek is played out. All entries received before 11.59pm on Monday November 11 will be entered into the qualifying round. In this first cup competition we will have 1024 qualifiers for the first round – those 1017 (plus 7 previous winners who will earn a bye if entered) with the top scores in Gameweek 11 will progress to the first round proper to be played in Gameweek 12. Again, FPL standing will decide who progresses in the event of tied positions.

How do I enter?

Simply fill out the entry form here. You will be sent a confirmation email to verify your entry. You can also check that you are entered via this list.

When will I find out if I’ve qualified?

Results from the qualifying round will be published on Tuesday November 12

What is the Gameweek Schedule

Each round of the Paddy Power Cup will be played out over the following schedule:

  • Qualifying – Gameweek 11
  • Round 1 – 1024 teams – Gameweek 12
  • Round 2 – 512 teams – Gameweek 13
  • Gameweek 14 – Break
  • Round 3 – 256 teams – Gameweek 15
  • Round 4 – 128 teams – Gameweek 16
  • Round 5 – 64 teams – Gameweek 17
  • Gameweek 18 – Break
  • Round 6 – 32 teams – Gameweek 19
  • Gameweek 20 – Break
  • Round 7 – 16 teams – Gameweek 21
  • Quarter-Final – 8 teams – Gameweek 22
  • Semi-Finals – 4 teams – Gameweek 23
  • Final – 2 teams – Gameweek 24

When are the fixtures released?

The fixture list for each round will be published a day or two before each Gameweek deadline.

Are there prizes?

Sponsors Paddy Power are supplying the competition with some great prizes and we’re supplementing these with Amazon Vouchers. The prizes break down as follows:

Winner – £100 worth of free bets. £100 Amazon Voucher
Runner-up – £50 worth of free bets. £50 Amazon Voucher
3rd Place – £50 worth of free bets. £25 Amazon Voucher

In addition, the top scoring manager from each round will win a £25 free bet from Paddy Power on supply of their Paddy Power username.

Cup Entrants will need a Paddy Power account and be aged 18 or over to be eligible for some of the above prizes. Prizes are also subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. You can, of course, enter without being over 18 and without a Paddy Power account but will not be eligible for the free bet prizes.

Do I have to enter if I’m a previous winner?

Yes, because your FPL team ID will have changed, we will need to record your entry again. As a previous winner, you will be given a bye to the first round proper.

Do I need to be registered with Fantasy Football Scout?

We ask you to supply a FFS username so we can feature you, as a member of our community, in any articles associated with the tournament. Ideally, you will already have a username with us but this is not essential to enter – you must, however, supply a username for the purpose of the tournament so you can be identified in articles. You must not change this username throughout the course of the tournament, should you do so without permission, or should you enter multiple teams or if your FFS account comes under moderation for any reason, we reserve the right to remove you from the tournament.

Silva out to whom and why?
Thinking Yaya or Coutinho. Already have Oscar, Januzaj, Ravel and Ramsay so dont want to go too cheap.

BR could play a 442 like last week, can he not? Coutinho on the left wouldn't make hime very effective and may see much if the same form he showed early in the season

They didnt play 4 4 2 earlier in the season. Amd the only reason they switched in the second half is because there was no glen johnson or enrique. Instead there was flanagan who isnt good enough and cissokho. He will definitely stick to the 33112 or 3 5 2.. whatever u want to call it.

Nasri. He scores or assists most games, is rising in value, should be nailed on with Silva out and is cheaper than Yaya which gives you options elsewhere

Yaya over Coutinho all day long.

Coutinho hasn't done anything all season, even before his injury. There are doubts over which role he'll play (LW or in the hole), he has no set-pieces and has only just come back from injury.

Just don't see the appeal at all yet, though maybe owning him earlier in the season has clouded my thoughts

Last season he played 900 mins (same as yaya whos scored 63) and cout scored 70... 3 less than ramsay. And that was LW... LW or in the hole.. either way will be good. Cant judge him on the 3 games he played. No suarez.. the only player infront of him was sturridge amd they were all only 1 0 wins. If u actuallt maybe watched the games you would see how much of a threat he is. Im glad not many ppl lile him amd think his a disaster for fpl jusy cos of 3 games lol

I think you and others name some good options. Ozil if you can afford him is obviously decent (though you perhaps wouldn't want double Arsenal in midfield). If you want a punt, Gerrard has been scoring well recently yet firmly under the radar...

    How does the team look?
I know it looks abstract but it's somehow got me into top 5k:

    Boruc
    Terry, Chico, Clyne, Collins, Toure
    Ramsey, Januzaj (Özil, Nolan, Brady)
    Suárez (c), Sturridge, Agüero (vc)

I would be very surprised if Ozil didn't view this game as a chance to really test himself. Good players thrive on these sort of games so it could bring the best out of him.

Am I the only one who always feels the need to captain a player that cost points to bring in, just because it feels you're getting your money back?

Had the armband on Suarez all week, but tempted to put it onto Hazard/Aguero just because I coughed up some points to bring them in

youre not alone but the players you need to bring in need to score 4 points more than the person you took out to justify transferring them in this week.

      keep suarez captain, trust

Yeah, this is definitely not the week to be punting with the armband. If Suarez does the business so many people will have him as their captain that it'd be a red arrow for sure

I'm answering your point. Don't be distracted by anything else but who you think will score the most points. What you paid for a player, in points, might make you impatient to get something back for it but it makes absolutely no difference to anything. It's all in your head

How do u lot think United will lineup for the Sunday game??
    A) park the bus and try to score on the counter/set-pieces
    or
    B) try to beat Arsenal's midfield man to man and play more open

they're not too playing too good but it's still at Old Trafford and they're still one of the bigger teams.

Classic Moyes trying some unsuccessful mind games then. I think you're right about Smalling right back to try and contain Caz, although I'd say Jones and Carrick will play a more level line, with Kags on the left and Rooney a deeper lying No.10, spending a lot of his time tracking back into midfield and holding up the ball

    Morning all,
Is it sensible to just leave Silva on the bench this week?
    Boruc
    GJ Coleman Chico Burner
    Oscar Ramsey Barkley
    Sturridge Aguero Giroud
    Foster Silva Jedinak Bennett

    Or -4 for Silva to:
Toure - others in my league have him
    Nasri
    Coutinho
    Gerrard
    Hazard
    Lallana
    Januzaj
    Other?
