Injuries

The Treatment Table – Gameweek 30

We scour the weekend’s matches and analyse the post-match reports for news of any fresh injury concerns ahead of double Gameweek 31:

Arsenal
Reports suggest Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was replaced by Thomas Vermaelen with five minutes left of yesterday’s win over Spurs due to a tight calf. Nicklas Bendtner missed the north London derby win as a result of illness, according to Arsene Wenger.

Aston Villa
Gabby Agbonlahor was withdrawn in Saturday evening’s win over Chelsea with a calf complaint. Paul Lambert remains optimistic the forward will be ready for Sunday’s home clash with Stoke:

“Gabby had a little problem at half-time just with his calf and so we watched it and took him off because we still have masses of games to play – I think he’ll be okay.”

Everton
Gareth Barry needs to be assessed after suffering a shin problem in Everton’s win over Cardiff. Roberto Martinez rolled out an update on the midfielder, who picked up the problem following a strong challenge by the Bluebirds’ Kevin Theophile-Catherine:

“Gareth has stud marks on his shin. It’s a strong knock but it didn’t affect any joints so that’s the reason he could carry on. I haven’t seen the replay, but I believe the player has both feet off the ground and he doesn’t get the ball so it was a reckless, violent challenge.”

Fulham
The Cottagers record signing Kostas Mitroglou failed to make the weekend win over Newcastle after picking up a knee problem, whilst Darren Bent was unavailable due to “personal reasons” once again, though is expected to return next week. Goalscorer Ashkan Dejagah is an early concern for Saturday’s trip to the Etihad after he was forced off towards the end of the 1-0 triumph. The Iranian emerged from the benched to grab the winner but lasted just 26 minutes, with manager Felix Magath revealing:

“It’s too early to talk about it. He was injured before and has done almost the same thing. I’m afraid it might last a bit longer this time.”

Man United
Chris Smalling’s run of six straight league starts came to an end yesterday after he missed the home clash against Liverpool with a hamstring injury.

Southampton
Dejan Lovren was forced off towards the end of Saturday’s 4-2 win over Norwich with a groin problem. Mauricio Pochettino revealed after the match that the Croatian suffered the most tender of injuries:

“Basically, one of his testicles was stepped on by another player and I’m pretty sure that one testicle is quite inflamed, quite swollen.”

Stoke
Erik Pieters was subbed off with less than 15 minutes on the clock after sustaining a muscle injury. Post-match, the Dutchman gave an update on the problem after a trip to the hospital:

“Had my first scan in half time and I’m happy to say everything it’s ok. Weekend rest and see how it’s on Monday.”

Sunderland
Steven Fletcher lasted just 45 minutes of Saturday’s goalless draw before limping off at half-time with an ankle injury, with Jozy Altidore now looking in pole position for the central role ahead of the Black Cats’ double Gameweek.

West Brom
Morgan Amalfitano was ruled out of Saturday’s win over Swansea after picking up a knock in training, according to reports in the local press.

I don't know why people think Nasri isn't nailed on lol..

yes he didn't play much the first 3 matches of the PL season, but since then? 65+ minutes in 18/20 matches and started last 5 City matches: 90 90 90 74 80.

instead of buying AJ as I had planned, I'm considering a punt on either AOC or Rosicky.

AJ's a fine player, but inconsistent, and Sunderland's upcoming fixtures are shakey. He hasn't done much at all since his run of 4 games with a goal... If he can't be relied up on at home to Hull and Crystal Palace, i'm not going to waste a spot in my midfield.

On the other hand, Rosicky and AOC have been clicking. My only reservation is that they seem to play only 2 of every 3 matches.
    Ramsey/Ozil/Wilshere still out injured...

    Thoughts?

SCOUT PICK CHALLENGES - GAMEWEEK 30 FINAL RESULTS
    *** SUAREZ POINTS UPDATE ***

Just for those who are wondering whether Suarez's assist (+ 2BPs) affects the rankings, it hasn't done and the top 3 remain as they were (and fortunately for myself, so do the bonus points allocations). So the results are still as follows:

Final results are in, scores have been counted and verified - I am pleased to announce that this GW rankings are:

    1) Lionel's Messy Boxers (69pts)
    2) Vince 'Newcastle' McMahon (59pts)
    3) Chickenwithpeas (58pts)

Well done to all three of you! Quite a few people managed to beat the Scout Picks & Differentials this week, with bonus points being awarded to:

Lionel's Messy Boxers, Vince 'Newcastle' McMahon, Chickenwithpeas, MB10, Nice to Finally Michu, Greenwindmill and Djerbil - Feyenoord at my helm.

Lionel's 4 points from this gameweek shoot him straight up to the top spot, and things seem to be heating up. The league rankings for SPC now stand at:

    1st - Lionel's Messy Boxers (6pts)
    2nd - The Happy One, Irina'ss & Gloria Kanchelskis (4pts)

So Lionel establishes a healthy lead at the top, still all to play for though! Until next time folks...

    Spreadsheet: https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=4C7B4AC17811122!522&authkey=!AB-BatPfVH5sgAw&ithint=file%2c.xlsm

Note: Scores may be updated during the week if mistakes are found on the spreadsheet (although, there shouldn't be).

Chasing a 90 point lead! Is this worth a 12 point hit? I know it probably isn't but if I'm going to catch him this is the week to do it...

your only needing to pick up11 points per week which is perfectly feasable but if you start taking 12 point hits that makes it really difficult to catch up.

              Very valid point!

I would probably want Terry and Hazard back in which would mean more hits. Maybe I'll stick to my original plan which was to hold and ignore Silva/Coleman

That's my thinking behind bringing in Coleman but then again Terry could keep a CS v Arsenal.

It's also why I'm a bit confused with what to do with Hazard. I'm pretty sure he will stick and I can see it being a low scoring game but it could also go the other way.

look further ahead than 1 or 2 games, check the fixtures and try to work out a strategy going foward, take as few hits as possible but when you do make sure the player you are bringing in has a few decent games etc. eg. chester could get you more than Terry this gw at only 3.8 and has a total of 4 decent fixtures

Someone else mentioned Chester earlier but I really can't see him outscoring Terry for example including the -4 to bring him in. If I were to bring him in I would probably do it for Gabbidon but I'd like to use my spare £ to upgrade him to Zab for example or maybe even Kosc.

Thanks for your advice on looking forward etc you're it really isn't do or die this week, still plenty of weeks left.

theres a good chance Hull could keep a cleanie at home to West Brom and then they have West Ham. I can easily see 1 cleanie out of those games. that then gives you £3 million to invest elsewhere. that could be the difference between getting YYT over Mirallas etc. good luck with what you do though, ive managed to turn round a big deficit myself so I know its possible

You can only have 3 City midfielders in your team, so by you have at least two midfielders who don't play for City. Sell one of them instead of Hazard. And I'll take Hazard in 8 over Sunderland midfielders in 11.

If I took him out I'd want him straight back and would struggle to afford him. Only 10 oublers is a ssacrifice I'm willing to take for the points I expect to come in later weeks.

1FT - whom to bring in for Lallana? Max 8.4m.
Sterling, Nasri, Sissoko, Navas, Oxlade, Rosicky? Somebody else?
I don't want AJ with those fixtures.
[Having Sterling / Sissoko would help me to save funds for Aguero when he's back.]

    My team is:
    Adrian
    Baines / Coleman / Kolarov / Chester
    Yaya / Nolan / xxxx
    Suarez(C) / Sturridge / Lukaku

Bench: Mannone / Hazard / Ivanovic / Assaidi

I don't think there's much in the the sub-8.4m bracket, so maybe raise a few more quid taking Kolarov out and aiming for Gerrard / Silva.

Looking to get Nolan in for DGW for one of Puncheon or Noone, which to go for

    a) Noone and likely end up with Thud benched in GW34

    b) Puncheon with Noone on the bench in a 4-3-4 in GW34

Do we think Puncheon will actually play twice in a DGW?

Could really do with a little advice.

Would you stick with Rooney and Lallana or get in Suarez and Sterling/Henderson.

awful awful week- left mannone on the bench and made Haz captain!

    Mannone x2 (Boruc)
    Smalling x 2, Coleman x2, Chester x2 (Cahill, Ward)
Mata x2, Januzaj x2, haz, snoddy, Lallana
    Lukaku x2, S a S x2

It looks as if I'm going to have to get rid of Mata as he's cost me too much already. Looking at:

Mata + Lallana--> Yaya or Silva + Gerrard

Good moves for -4? That would give me 10 DGW with Haz or Snoddy playing as 4th mid.

or you could remove snoddy and lallana and have 11 dgw's and be 4 points up. Just saying

good point.I have £2.2m itb so could easily get Yaya or Silva for Lallana and stick with Mata. I still would only have 10 DGW players though?
