The ScoutCast – Episode 129 – Bitter

There’s no getting away from it, Granville and I are nothing short of bitter middle aged, middle of the table Fantasy managers. This week’s ScoutCast is a vitriol-filled slab of double Gameweek failure, inspired by Yaya Toure’s relentless point scoring and our stubborn reluctance to recruit his talents.

Of course, in between skinning our sour grapes, Granville and I dabble with the podcast regulars, whilst responding to another round of community posers including a lookey-likey query that smiles kindly on my co-host and has me recounting the tale of my very own office doppleganger.

Wallow in self pity via this link or look on the bright side via the player below…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Play Mirallas or Demichelis? Am scared Mirallas may get a 1 pt bench role this GW. If he starts could do very well against a desperate Fulham.

      as a gooner you could play demichelis meaning either arsenal score and you're happy or they don't and demichelis gets a clean sheet

    Any thoughts on where to improve? I'm thinking Mata...

    Mannone
    Zabaleta - Azpilicueta - Distin
    Hazard - Mata - Johnson -Sterling
    Lukaku - Suarez - Sturridge

    Subs: Davis - Evra - Ward - Bruce

      Mata tying up too much money there. Mata to Nasri? Sterling looking like a bench player at the minute too

      Mata and Sterling both need to go. Mutch and Yaya would probably be the best replacements.

      Unless you really fancy man utd (which I dint despite being an optimistic united fan) can you look to free up cash by taking out mata and Evra? Mata this week and Evra next perhaps?

    One of my favourite goals of the season, Sturridge winner over Villa. Maximum control and composure. Excellent decision making. The kind of stuff that set apart those who can make it at the top level, from those who were just playground flat track bullies.

        prefer that goal to his 1st. think the 1st is a goal you could get close to scoring if you were given 10 attempted where he got it. the 3rd goal i don't think you could put a number on how many attempts you'd need from where he got it

        It's a good place to start though I tend to look ahead to player form and fixture combos that I anticipate wanting and start moving my team in that direction earlier if price or individual fixtures warrant it
        Eg if I decided I wanted more Everton and less arsenal for week 34 I would do giroud > lukaku this week even though giroud home to city is fine but I would prefer lukaku at fulham

      It's difficult to know whether it's worth it. I plumped for Silva because I thought Jovetic being fit might be a threat to Nasri's gametime; that hasn't been the case. But if Silva's fit he's at least as good an option as Nasri. I'd probably hold for now.

    Evening. Anyone think Silva to Nasri is worth a FT if he is injured or just hold and hope for the best with this underachieving midfield?

    Boruc
    Baines Coleman Caulker
    Sissoko Sterling Cazorla Hazard
    Suarez Sturridge Dzeko

      That's probably strong enough without Silva, but yes start him unless we hear that he's out for definite.

      Sounds good. In a strange way it will be liberating to hold fire and give my long shots one more chance to come in.

    Pick two transfers to do in GWs 33 and 34:
    A. Rooney -> Aguero (0.7)
    B. Gerrard -> Silva (0.4)
    C. Hazard -> Yaya (0.3)
    D. Sagna -> Zabaleta (0.6)
    The numbers in the brackets are how much money I'd need to free up.

        And Roon -> Kun or other striker on G34

          Those two transfers would cost me 2.0, wouldn't be able to free up that much without taking a 4 point hit (e.g Kosc + Snod -> Barkley + a Sunderland defender)

        Don't see how I'd free up 1.3 and still be able to afford another City player.

    If Villa front three are confirmed fit to play, I feel I would bench Evra.

    There's a risk of him to start on the bench again for. Buttner's game time.

    Mannone
    Ivanovic - Coleman - Fonte (Evra, Ward)

      wrote about this earlier. Usually it is the CL player that gets the rest in the league. In this situation, the reverse is true. Do you think that Buttner will start and then be forced to play 90mina on Tuesday?
      Wouldnt the more likely scenario be for Evra to start and give Buttner a run out @ 60mins?

        Or Buttner starts and plays 60, then be replaced by Evra and saved for mid week ?

      No way Butner plays weekend and vs BM so I expect Evra will start unless injured. Even with that said I would start him over ur other 3 so benching is fine

    Worth even starting Silva if we get the usual 50/50 tripe tomorrow? Got Flanagan on the bench and would hate for Silva to come of the bench if City were somehow losing late on.
