Dugout Discussion

The Dugout Discussion – Saturday

Saturday’s events continue with a quartet of three o’clock kick-offs, culminating in a crunchy tea-time clash at Stamford Bridge.

The battle to clamour free of relegation worries dominates the day, as Caridff seek out another three points to follow their unexpected St Mary’s triumph – a mid-table Stoke City are their opponents in South Wales. Elsewhere, compatriots Swansea make the trip to an out-of-sorts Newcastle in their bid to keep themselves free of the Premier League trapdoor. Paul Lambert will look to halt Aston Villa’s alarming slide down the table with their home tie with Southampton, while Crystal Palace will seek out a fifth straight win when they pay visit to Upton Park.

The day is rounded off by Chelsea’s bid to climb to the top of the table for 24-hours at least, as they look to hammer a nail in Sunderland’s coffin. Given the Black Cats’ show at the Etihad on Wednesday, however, we should expect the unexpected.

Look to our Twitter feed for all the news from the day’s team sheets, while our Dugout Discussion chatroom remains open for those looking to partake in some real-time banter.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Hmm, interesting how lowly Falcao is being rated. Costa is talented, but I'd take Falcao over him. Much more clinical.

      My list would be:

      Falcao
      RvP
      Costa
      Cavani

Costa all day leader in that poll for me. 25....big.....clinical.....a bit of attitude thrown in there. Falcao is a great player, but 28 and coming off ACL. Not that 28 is too old. Just when you add it all up, I think Costa is a better target. Cavani I like as well. RVP......not so much. He's dang good, but age and injury history, etc.

Na, I was really just curious about how recent performances affect peoples perceptions of a players' ability. RvP one poor season with injuries, Falcao injured and in an unwatched league, and Cavani playing badly against Chelsea which was on the telly, and Costa getting a lot of praise. I got what I really expected.

I'm not sure you even know what you expected. You seem to be arguing that Costa is getting too much praise and that we who rate him highest at the moment are just morons who are judging the players over the course of the last month or something. Then, you go on to say that you would take Costa over Falcao, but that you think Falcao is a better striker. You've got me right confused chap, and I think you've confused yourself as well.
