Anyone else struggle with wanting to start with the more expensive player instead of "sure thing".

Ramsey vs. Sanchez is a great example for me.

I feel like if I start with Sanchez and he explodes early, great. If he doesn't and Ramsey does, it's an easy quick move to Ramsey or whoever else.

On the other hand, if you start with Ramsey and Sanchez takes off, finding the $1.5 mil to get to him can get tricky very quick.

Interesting Pep. That's not a double up that was even on my radar.

        Rooney/Mata and/or 2 of Costa/Hazard/Fabregas

But once you start doubling up you're basically conceding some or all of City, Pool, Spurs, etc. coverage, which may or may not be a good thing.

Yeah but the rest of your team is weakened by using 1.5m on Sanchez

Sanchez is potentially great captain material (double figure hauls). If he does start strong and take off, then it's not really weakening.

And as mentioned above it's an easy swap if he flops

The point I was making is that it's not as simple as ''oh I can downgrade him easy if he flops'' and you shouldn't pick Sanchez because you can downgrade him easily because the rest of your squad is weaker when you have Sanchez.

If you think he's gonna do great then pick him, I'm not saying don't do it just don't pick him because you can easily downgrade him

I reckon Giroud id is a bargain. Not the best player but at 8.5 he only got 10 points less than Sturridge last year for a full 3 million less. I think he has to be in my team. Getting pretty close now to a starting squad and have slightly reigned in my gambles.

I understand that Giroud offers great value points per million wise, no doubt.
Hands down, one of the best in the game last year & certainly a good buy this year too.

Although, the point I was really driving at here was, Sturridge offered us 7.5pts per game & Giroud only netted 5.2 pts per appearance.

So, Sturridge's real *value* comes to light, in the fact that he's an easy captain's choice most weeks while Giroud unfortunately is not.

I like Stokes first 10 fixtures enough to ride Bego for the first 1/4 of the season.

Not having Yaya last year killed me and I still cant rationalize the price even though he is obviously a heavy hitter. I guess City's fixtures give me an excuse to try and risk not having him.

My punts in my starting XI will be Cabella and Sessegnon. Seems to have a very low ownership. Just have a feeling Siggy will do less for the money. Never go back is what they say after all and Sess' fixtures are pretty decent at the start.. Cabella well what the hell he has done pretty well preseason and I had earmarked that spot for De Jong, but you don't start with a potential injury do you?

He's in a midfield three and they look to him to go forward and create for them. Quite secure

If Martin Kelly moves to Palace - 4.5 Palace defender & probes be more nailed on than Mariappa. thoughts?

Currently on Mariappa... given that I'm sitting him on the pine for the opening GW, I'd be inclined to jump on Kelly before the GW1 deadline/as soon as he's available on FPL. Definitely the better option of the two

He's no more than an impact sub & will be inconsequential fantasy wise until CL really gets underway...

    A, B or C...

    Yaya Hazard Rambo Siggy JWP

    Studge Roonpig Diouf

    Or

    Yaya Rambo Siggy Arnautovic JWP

    Studge Roonpig Costa

    Or

    Mata Rambo Lamela Siggy JWP

    Studge Roonpig Costa

B costs 0.5 more than the other two. Any advice appreciated.

All this will depend upon the uber defense choices at tge back.

Defense is sorted. I can take 0.5 out of it no problem.

Any opinions on how this could be improved?

    Krul Mannone
    Lovren Chester Debuchy Ward Wisdom
Mata Fabregas Eriksen Ramsey (Isgrove / other 4.5)
    Jovetic Bony Rooney

As you can see for the forward pack I've decided to go with two moderately priced players instead of Sturridge + cheap. Jovetic obviously a punt, but I think a worthy one atm.

Giroud another option instead of Bony as well

Not too many people like Lovren based on fixtures and Liverpools defensive difficulties last year. However, if you don't have the extra cash for a Chelsea defender and don't want a ManU one, Lovren is not a bad choice. I think the mids are solid choices and your picks up front could work out for you--or can at least become Dzeko, Giroud, Adebayor, Soldado or any of the other options if they hit form.

They have exceptional home fixtures in the first half of the year.

IF you find a rotational partner you like then QPR could certainly worth a look...

Thoughts on a Hendo+ Sterling double up for the opening weeks? Hendo can become Siggy later.

          OK?

I don't know how this relates to OP's question about doubling up on "Hendo+ Sterling" though?

I think both could be good picks, but I do have to agree with O'Shaughnessy that the opening schedule for Liverpool makes a Sigurdsson + Sterling start potentially better (though maybe it is just a more conservative approach)
