Wildcard activated, do any of these moves look good?

    A) Baines, Eriksen, Welbeck OUT / Pieters (if fit), Ramsey, Pelle IN
    B) Baines, Eriksen, Welbeck OUT / PVA, ADM, Pelle IN
    C) Baines, Eriksen, Welbeck OUT / Pieters (if fit), Chadli, Rooney IN
    D) Eriksen, Welbeck OUT / Mirallas, Pelle IN
    E) Krul OUT / Mannone IN

Today was a sobering reminder of how frustrating Welbeck can be. I'm also second-guessing my Baines pick, considering cheaper alternatives to Eriksen in the midfield, and looking for any excuse to dump Krul as Newcastle look like a dumpster fire at the moment. Any and all thoughts appreciated...

Just get price risers. By the end of the week I'd keep Baines though.

Post your pre WC team (if you can be bothered) I see people on here being far too eager to use their WC.

True about Welbeck being frustrating, but remember he's a lower-mid priced striker, playing for Arsenal. He will miss lots of chances, but he will get lots so a few will go. No need to compare him to Costa. I don't have Welbeck myself by the way, jus sayin'

It was an impulsve, drunken decision. Was originally planning on playing it over the second international break...

    Morning DZ. I like trains.

    1 FT 2.3m ITB

    Bego
    Debuchy Clyne Cahill Ferdinand Moore
    Fabregas Ramsey Siggy Sterling Albrighton
    Balotelli Rooney Naismith

    1. Debuchy is a priority to go out. To whom?
PvA, Chambers, Duff comes to mind

    2. Costa is obviously essential and I still don't have him.
Fan of Pelle so woud want to bring him in. Should I bring in one now for a hit?

    3. No City player but they're a minefield..

      1. Moreno. Good fixtures and attacking.

      2. Balo->Costa asap. Take a hit here if necessary.

      3. Agreed. Playing in the CL complicates matters even further.

I'm not sure if you're being serious or not but I wouldn't be holding onto a 5 mil defender from QPR. Attacking returns are basically a crapshoot so I wouldn't bank on them either.

Yeah it's a pretty amazing site. Usually they have two highlights one extended one of just goals, depending on the match. They also put the highlights up really quickly after a given match is over. The main problem is that they are all over the map with what language they are on, but that's the only complaint. No problem 🙂

Given that it tends to be the highest scoring part of the game, Wood needs to be booted asap. I won't ask why you even have him in the first place.

      Take a hit and do:

ADM -> Chadli (Ramsay would be better but you have spent your money on Henderson, Caulker and Ivan sadly.)
      Wood->Pelle.

Evening. Finishing up entry of all the teams for the Champions League Picks Challenge spreadsheet. Have not logged the points from today's matches but here are the picks.

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1wdBCsUAU2Gq1T7WnCdF9epGh2aJWaFdrklhSjrMcxWo/edit?usp=docslist_api

Bayern Chelsea Real and Barca are not surprisingly the favorites, but the action will really be with the teams with a wide distribution of points like Monaco, Leverkusen, Roma, and Zenit. Actually, Group C is the wildest of all of them as far as our picks go.

As for us, Dusan Citizen, Baby Tigrrrr, and Chicrah are the most original with at least six clubs outside the norm, considered here as at least 5 points either higher (green) or lower (red) than the mean.

Probably won't feature for another 2-3 GWs and will be used sparingly off the bench for a few GWs i expect. This could coincide with Arsenals improved fixtures so could be worth looking again around GW 8-10.

Haha ... I'm sold on yours 🙂 I want to see United firm up at the back consistently before I'd consider a defender. The 4-man backline they rolled out last week looked a lot tighter, only after consistent CSs against more reasonable opposition would Rojo become an option. MHO of course

Understandable. But it was Blind and our fit fullbacks that made all the difference at the weekend. We were relying on the likes of Cleverley, Young and Valencia in those positions prior.

Thoughts on Di Maria vs Herrera for man utd midfield coverage?

    1. PhoggyRatherGroggy

I haven't heard anyone talk about Herrera and was wondering why. He looked great and was involved with everything against QPR. I am still not sure why he didn't get an assist on the ADM goal, when he drew the foul?.

    2. Not Irish

      The former

Based on the limited amount of information we have to go on, I would expect Di Maria to outscore Herrera, though Herrera may be better value.

Di Maria is obviously class player but with a historically limited goal threat he is going to be heavily reliant on assists. This seems to be working ok for Fabregras but I prefer my premium midfielders with a bit more goal threat, giving more points options. Remember Ozil last year?

I'd also need to see how Man U looked against a team with a semi decent midfield before judging the new formation and players.

Personally I'm not ready to get either in and I'm not chasing the Di Maria value. I may change my mind later if necessary.

I don't have adebayor, would captain him if I did.

Classic gamblers mistake in that I'm chasing the lost Costa captain points from last week and feel its a good week to back against him where the mainstream who picked him this week may stay on him.
